An experimental browser that runs in chrome.

Image from store Leaf Browser Alpha
Description from store An Experimental Browser UI that runs in Google Chrome. This App is mostly an experiment to think about web browser UIs in a bit of a different way. Key Features: • A tree structure for managing your tabs (that you can choose to hide) (like tree style tabs / treetabs for firefox). • No distinction between bookmarks and tabs. • Ability to rename tabs. • Ability to "pin" tabs to prevent accidentally navigating away / closing. • Not all tabs need to be loaded at once (they are loaded when you want them to be, and marked with a tick. You can also unload tabs to free up memory without fully closing them). • Ability to clour-code tabs. • Completely Open Source - https://github.com/samlanning/leaf-browser

  • (2020-02-22) Luca Gentile (Cyclorbit): Great browser to use in alternative to Chrome on a Chromebook. It works fast and I managed to navigate on a site (of a bank) where google Chrome was not working good. THANKS!
  • (2019-05-25) Hansly Saw: It is actually a simple side-by-side web browser that runs on the same user agent as your Chrome version, which could be very useful, especially if you want to have separate browser. However, one issue, which I don't think is necessary in my case, is that it still has access to some extensions like your VPN. When my VPN was connected to Singapore in Google Chrome, the same thing happened to Leaf. Another thing, which is not also necessary, is that you can't have bookmarks. But overall, it is great.
  • (2018-08-20) Pang Wenze: I use it to watch stuff.........school blocked it. :D
  • (2018-04-28) Great... Just one thing... I use this browser for gaming sometimes, and I don't know how to enable Flash Player. Any help?
  • (2018-04-03) Bobby Doerr: Real handy to swiitch back and forth between tabs.
  • (2018-01-28) Ayham Waleed: this is horrible i connot do anything
  • (2017-12-20) Kayla E: i really liked it
  • (2017-08-05) Tom Bucceri: This is just what I needed. Some pages that won't display properly in Chrome, work in Leaf. If you have multiple accounts on one site you can easily switch between them without having to sign out.
  • (2017-04-28) This is absolutely amazing. I can play games with very little lag, and do things perfectly.
  • (2017-04-14) Harshiv Gajjar: It is and exceptional browser. Very Different from all other Browsers! I LOVED IT!!!!!!:)
  • (2017-04-06) Maximus Espinoza: Great Concept
  • (2017-03-15) Ralph Dratman: Please make this into a Chrome extension if at all possible! You could start a gofundme or kickstarter page for this, or just contact your favorable reviewers and ask for money! I will contribute for certain. Thank you Ralph
  • (2017-02-20) Zoop2: Interesting app, i like it. By the way you misspelled "colour" in the Key Features part of the overview. @Sam Lanning
  • (2017-01-21) Stoff Stoffer: I'm really fond of this app. I've just started to use it and saw it was highly reviewed, so I installed it. I find the branching tabs really useful, as well as pinning. Kudos to the creators!! :D
  • (2017-01-16) I really like it because I can do things on it thatthe school blocked but it wont let me enable the app. I dont know if its the app itself or my laptop
  • (2017-01-05) Bader Aldurai: I almost never rate applications, but this one has great potentials. I have read something first about it being discontinued then the owner/maintainer redirecting the development away from chrome since the announcement of google chrome apps discontinuation. totally understandable and I would love to see this project continue. I'm really interested in seeing where this will head. keep up the good work, Sam.
  • (2016-12-24) Dolphins Bay: This is very nice thing, that I was looking for, something similar had for Firefox but now will try on Chrome, thx :)
  • (2016-12-24) Alex Alex: Interesting

  • (2016-12-23) Viktor Lyovochkin: Good job! Nice and useful extension.
  • (2016-11-28) Alvin: Very creative idea. It organizes my tabs so I can get to them easily even if I have like a hundred tabs open.
  • (2016-11-15) Carlos Cabrera: Im concerned if is secure to navigate like in the original browser, i mean like aech tab is running in a sandbox, etc...If its the case, you will earn the 6 star from me
  • (2016-10-24) Andrei Kvapil (kvaps): This is a cool idea really! Excellent design and implementation, and I am very pleased to see the project on free license. I want to see this browser completed :) I hope that someone will find the strength and will continue this project. Thanks!
  • (2016-10-01) Zac Collier: Solid concept & compelling UI design. I was excited to use this extension for organizing my online reading - alas, the lack of any adblocking features made this less-than-ideal. I didn't use Leaf for more than 5 minutes as a result. Autocomplete in the URL bar is necessary as well.
  • (2016-09-25) h a: I have had the same thoughts of a web browser as the ones behind Leaf Browser, so it's funny and nice to see them realised. It's a really good system, if you open more tabs than you close. In Firefox I got Tree Style Tab and BarTab Plus to make up for it, but maybe this can make Chrome a better browser for me again. Shame it doesn't come as an extension for the main Chrome browser.
  • (2016-09-25) John Vujnovich: This is the most useful thing i dont think i even know i needed. Running an unknown gaming server, being an admin is a headache. Keeping up with several sites in all types of variety, it allows me to easily navigate, the sites, Pinning the parent site, Pinning Wiki sites for reference, and really just making everything easier. this is simply brilliant. Would be nice to have a nice table to click color pick, instead of hex code, but other then that simply marvelous!
  • (2016-09-20) Marla C: Awesome browser. It'd be nice if there was a setting option so that you automatically approve running flash for any website you visit so you don't have to accept countless times on every page though. :]
  • (2016-09-11) Luca Nijim: This is a beautifully designed app with a lovely GUI. It works fantastic. I love the tab trees, and it doesn't lag when you open lots of tabs. I know that it is still in development, so it doesn't have complete features, but it works great for me. I found it to use on my school chromebook to get around the administrator blocking extension, and it also hides my history . At first, it was a little laggy, but now it works fine. The only problem is that it uses a tad more battery than normal chrome, but that's not a big deal. I loved it! I do hope that you continue making it for other platforms!
  • (2016-08-29) Sara M: If I still owned a chromebook I would use this so much. The ui IS brilliant. I hope someday to see something so elegant implemented for windows/mac/linux.
  • (2016-08-14) Adrian Fox: The auto complete seems to put https:// into the command line rather than http: so many websites do not appear and a 'site not found' message appears.
  • (2016-07-22) Wesley Kelly: Love the idea, but autocomplete for website names is a must have.
  • (2016-07-07) Neel Kallidai: It was great, except that it doesnt work as its own browser (hope that will be fixed in beta/regular stages)
  • (2016-05-27) Alex “Big Cheese” Clarke: Really good! one improvement to make is the starfluid webgl demo's stars are weird
  • (2016-05-24) Solar Flare: This browser is awesome! I love the simplistic design, and easy to use Tab system. All I need in a browser!
  • (2016-05-12) June: Great job! Just one thing you should add an extension that can read the leaf browser so you can edit the new tab page. All you have to do is take a extension that already dose that and edit it to work on the browser!
  • (2016-05-01) J Liu: It is okay except that the touch screen was not good and the browser was a **bit** slow
  • (2016-04-28) Levi McFarlin: I love this browser but there is just one problem, why does the website redirect to www.google.com when I search something using Yahoo? Please fix this if you can, but besides that it rocks!
  • (2016-04-21) It was simply okay... I love the fact that people are at least trying to build other browsers for chromebooks. I wish more popular sites would create real apps for chromebooks too!
  • (2016-04-06) Ning Cao: good
