## 🔧 How to Run Locally
To run the extension locally in your Chrome browser, follow these steps:
1. Clone or download the repository from GitHub: https://github.com/Ordinath/Whisper_to_ChatGPT
2. Install the dependencies by running npm install in the project folder
3. Run npm run build to build the app for production to the build folder
4. Open Google Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions
5. Enable "Developer mode" by toggling the switch in the top-right corner
6. Click on "Load unpacked" button and select the build folder created in step 3
7. The extension should now appear in your list of installed extensions
Now you can use Voice-to-Text ChatGPT extension without downloading it from the Chrome Web Store!
## 🔑 API Key Disclaimer
This extension requires an OpenAI account with a valid API key to function properly. OpenAI provides a small amount of free credits for all accounts, which is more than enough to use the Whisper API in ChatGPT and enjoy the extension's features.

I have tried various applications with speech-to-text functionality, and this one is the only application that directly accesses whisper AI and transcribes everything without any issues. All the other applications I have tried do not achieve the high quality of this application. Feature Request: Currently, the application only works on ChatGPT. It would certainly not be a problem to expand the application so that it functions in the entire Google Chrome browser, in every input field. This way, we would have a perfect speech-to-text extension that can be used throughout the entire Google Chrome browser. edit: There is now a new application called "Whispering" that directly accesses Whisper AI and has the same capabilities as Whisper to Chat GPT. However, this application works in the Google Chrome browser on any website, not just on Chat GPT. - (2023-05-04) S I: Very good extension, it's simple and Whisper works like magic. Having said that, it would be nice to have some useability upgrades, such as: 1. The option to send the message automatically after recording (just this feature alone would make this extension worth rating the full 5 stars) 2. The option to press and hold the button (or the shortcut key) to record, and then releasing the key to stop recording.
- (2023-04-30) Bruno Henrique: I couldn't really understand the limits of using the API (either with Whisper or ChatGPT), I'm not too familiar with that, so I can't really speak to it. but.. that's a MUST HAVE. For now this has been awesome to use!
- (2023-04-14) Chase Elmore: I love this extension. I use it daily for ChatGPT as Whisper has the best voice recognition by far. It's been working perfectly until today, 4/14/23. I emailed the developer. Once it's back up and working it's five stars all day.
- (2023-04-14) Dawid Maj: It has been working very well until today. Now the black microphone doesn't appear and I can't use it. I tried reinstalling, and still doesn't work. Please fix this bug.
