- (2025-07-07) Stephanie Oh: This extension is so convenient for when I write since I can easily scan anytime.
- (2025-06-17) Tom Grice: All it does is link to the GPTZero dashboard. Does literally nothing - whats the point in this?
- (2025-05-27) Alejandro Gartner: I'm incredibly impressed with this software. It's a must-have if you want your writing to be genuinely original. Use it for anything—work, creative writing, or class assignments—and you'll never face issues with AI detection or plagiarism again. give it a go!
- (2025-04-17) Brett Apple: I wish they would provide the ability to give 0 or negative stars. This extension is wholly unreliable. The Share button does not function most of the time and consistently fails due to unknown errors. Do not waste your time with this extension or GPTZero for that matter. Google its reliability as an AI checker.
- (2025-04-13) Anonymous A.: Was great, but no longer working for some reason. 1/5.
- (2025-01-08) Goat: Decent, google docs feature is good but sharing does not work, it says it generated a link, but no link appears, the link in the top search bar does not work as well, defeats my purpose of downloading
- (2024-11-09) Julian Elias: Update to the update below - Nov '24 Alex contacted me and refunded around $65. I've been using GPTZero Origin in Chrome pretty regularly for the past year. It's helpful. While it may not be 100% accurate every time, in my opinion it's reliable. I make sure my students know I use it to scan their essays, papers, etc, and I'd say that knowledge deters many of them from plagiarizing. I also tell my students they should use the free version of GPTZero to check their work before they submit it. All in all, I'm glad to have Origin at my disposal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update - November 2024 I upgraded to the Premium plan. It's supposed to cost $155.88. https://gptzero.me/pricing From their website, here are the prices: Essential = $99.96 annually Premium = $155.88 annually Professional = $299.88 annually Yesterday GPTZero took $192 out of my bank account - for the Premium plan, which costs $155.88. This doesn't make sense. None of the plans cost $192. I sent multiple emails asking for an explanation but have received only an auto response. Very frustrating and disappointing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a subscription for which I paid $120 to GPTZero in November 2023. I don't really know which tools or features I'm able to access compared to non-subscribers. Sometimes Origin seems to work well, but other times it has stopped working after approximately ten minutes and given me this message: "You have exceeded 150 uses per hour." I don't think I ever "exceeded 150 uses per hour," especially not when I was using Origin for only 10-15 minutes at a time. In a nutshell, I like Origin - but I've had some frustrating experiences with it over the past six months.
- (2024-11-07) Anthony Guijarro: works okay for what it's intended for but is overall a broken extension. it breaks a lot of website code, especially for device theme related stuff which is horrible for accessibility. would recommend setting this to only access site data on click in your browser extension settings
- (2024-08-30) Jessica S. (darkocean): Doesn't work I wanted to see what it thought of my story but won't check it on royal road. Make it compatible with all websites, thank you much.
- (2024-08-14) Pierre Maroun: top
- (2024-08-01) Mark Kaplowitz: I have found Origin by GPTZero to be a very useful tool when assessing student work. I like that I can right-click on any type of student writing that I receive in my LMS and have an evaluation generated that breaks down how much each sentence contributes to the determination of AI vs. human contribution. I like that I can download a pdf of the evaluation. I like that the evaluation not only claims what percentage of a work is AI-generated, but also assigns a degree of confidence in that evaluation. And, frankly, GPTZero's evaluation of student writing aligns with my intuitive evaluation roughly 90% of the time, so it's nice to have GPTZero in my corner, even if it's only a probabilistic assessment that cannot explain how it reaches its determinations.
- (2024-07-29) DANIEL DEL FERRARO: This is so incredibly useful as a teacher. Oftentimes, I'll read a student's work and think that it doesn't sound like them at all. This tool helps me to check their writing to see if they used AI to craft it. The percent readouts are great to show students and parents to make the point very clear.
- (2024-07-27) Sai Vaddula: great
- (2024-07-26) Jasmin: Very helpful app I use it often to double check my work. You do run out of daily credits and I did purchase a plan Thats how much i love it and use it daily !
- (2024-07-22) Alzy Majed: Great app very helpful to me daily
- (2024-07-17) Amenah Saeed: Great extension and very helpful in my day to day life.
- (2024-07-17) Alzahraa Saeed: As a student I Gptzero to prove that my work was written by me and make sure i am not missing anything . This is great.
- (2024-07-02) Max McNicholas: As a student I use this to prove that my work was written by me. This is great.
- (2024-06-15) India Springer: Great extension especially for college students. With that being said, always keep in mind that technology isn't always 100% reliable so use AI responsibly!
- (2024-05-31) Emily Backus: This app could be a life-saver for students suffering false positives from AI-detection software. Finally, they can show where their text came from.
- (2024-05-30) John Laugesen: Love having the extension directly accessible in Chrome. The ability to just select and check text through the extension is a real time saver. I use this all the time to quickly look at the AI score for student exams. Much better detection capabilities than other tools I have used, although none of these can be perfect this is by far the best I have used.
- (2024-05-30) Sandra Karolus-Mikhael: I love having this extension built into Chrome. As someone in education, I need to be able to quickly and accurately assess student cheating, and this is a strong tool for that. By confirming my suspicions on several hundred responses, I have been able to observe what makes AI responses stand out, which has helped me devise ways to help others identify it as well. AI definitely has a place, but not in our field in the way many students are using it. Regarding the extension itself, I find it very easy to use, with multiple ways to scan text (right clicking to run the quick scan, copying and pasting into the extension, or using the website itself). I'm impressed with the text analysis as it's very clear and easy to understand. The writing report would definitely help me as an instructor if I were still in the classroom setting, but it's not as useful in my current position. I recommend it to others regularly.
- (2024-05-30) Eddie Rhee: This is a good program! I could check plagiarism with this program but I had to double check with other program for accuracy.
- (2024-05-30) keletso Mphuthi: I must say GPTzero helped me alot to improve my writing skills i mostly used it as a cowriter for my blog outlines and content writing , i beleive everyone one will get different outcomes but its all about how you prompt.
- (2024-05-30) Fraser Dobson: Great tool to use, very helpful AI detector and great writing feedback!
- (2024-05-29) test 123: GPTZero is a fantastic browser extension that excels in detecting AI-generated content with impressive accuracy. Its user-friendly interface, seamless performance, and reliable updates make it an invaluable tool for ensuring content authenticity
- (2024-05-24) Andrew Dixon: I love GPTZero as it catches students who think they will never be caught! Even analyzes each sentence for AI language/algorithms! The people who hate the program are probably parents and students as those are the ones who complain to me (or students pretending to be parents/teachers). This is the standard I use due to the precision and ability to check for regular plagiarism as well. It does catch students with translation software, but that is a good thing is teaching a different language. You can't beat teacher detection and the assurance provided by MULTIPLE checkers, not one alone. This way, when you confront the student/advisor/counselor/school, there is evidence to support the decision made. Trying to forgo work is what students do, it's natural. It's our role as teachers to prepare the students for future challenges, including college/university plagiarism policy. Students try to upload snapshots of different checkers to avoid being caught due to the accuracy of this, and inaccuracy of others.
- (2024-05-01) SKSDSD SDDSDS: App is terrible it cant detect anything and many people are being wrongly punished. STOP tricking teachers into thinking this helps against AI the real defense is us as humans. YOU cant put computer vs computer. Tell teachers the right way such as their eyes or programs such as gogaurdian.
- (2024-04-25) Mr. Alexander: Very inaccurate. Several colleagues unfairly punished students because of your extension! You should be ashamed of yourselves.
- (2024-04-16) Howard Kowalchuk: Hello...Maybe someone out here has an idea. My report was working well for a long while, but now it doesn't want to actually display the writing report. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how have you found a way to mitigate it so that when the report runs, it actually opens and shows the information. Thank you.
- (2024-04-09) Chris Ostro: GPTZero's Origin is a vital part of my grading workflow. Although it's not 100% accurate, it does a good job at highlighting which pieces I need to give additional attention and scrutiny. The Chrome add-on also makes it easier to scan discussion posts quickly! It works best when students give you "Edit" access to their GDoc, so it's probably best to require that if you're using this tool, fyi
- (2024-04-09) Tracey Staggs: I love using the Origin - AI detector - extension. It is nice to have to right there on the webpage and not have to have another tab open. I just wish I could use unlimited. I will sometimes get the over the limit message. But great product overall!
- (2024-04-08) Desanna McKenney: I recently had the opportunity to use the AI Detector website, and I must say, I am impressed. From its intuitive interface to its remarkable accuracy, this platform exceeded all my expectations. First and foremost, the user interface is incredibly user-friendly. Navigating through the website was a breeze, even for someone like me who isn't particularly tech-savvy. The layout is clean, organized, and intuitive, making it easy to understand and use.
- (2024-04-08) david brockway: As a HS History teacher I use Origin to verify if student responses are AI generated. I can generally figure out if they are or not and use it as a back up.
- (2024-04-07) DyosaRyl Dadako: As freelance academic writer, I have found the origin tool to be incredibly helpful in ensuring the accuracy and originality of my work. with this tool, I am able to easily identify any inaccuracies, plagiarized phrases, or areas where my writing could be improved. This helps me to quickly review my students' papers and provide scores, while also ensuring that they have submitted original works. If any papers have more than 15% similarity, I can quickly request revisions. In summary, Original by GPTZero- ChatGPT and AI Detector has been a life saver for me as an academician. It's an incredibly useful tool that has helped me to improved the quality of my work and the speed at which I am able to review papers. Thank you, Team! Kudos!
- (2024-03-17) dylan Mcdaniel: Beyond inaccurate, Just because I am remotely literate and I have an above average vocabulary that's big enough to use words with more 4+ syllables, doesn't make me a robot
- (2024-03-13) A.P. School: Inaccurate way too many times even testing on my own work
- (2024-02-17) Lance Lavelle: As a teacher, it's been a fantastic way to discuss the pitfalls of Generative AI with my students. It's my first line of defense!
- (2024-02-16) Kat Newcombe-Lang: As a teacher, this is a great tool! I will run student papers throguh it before I start the grading process. While false positives are always a possibility, I will use the results to help me look for other indicators of AI. This tool speeds up my grading process by serving as a reassuring agent when my students have not used AI, thus allowing me to not question every single students' work. When an essay results in more than 20% AI on the Origin button, I know to look for other indicators of AI use. So far, the only false positive I've seen occured in the 50%-60% range, but I was able to verify it through other strategies. My only complaints about this tool is the speed at which the writing reports are created (typically under 3 minutes, so it's not a deal breaker by any means) and the fact that, even at the slowest setting, the writing videos can be hard to follow, especially if you're trying to verify exactl what was copied and pasted. I'd love a super slo-mo mode!
- (2024-02-15) Shsjsuss Usissusudi: Helpful tool, but sometimes it does seem to give a false positive, otherwise it does help in knowing the originality of papers.
- (2024-02-15) Yasoda Nauth: Origin is one of my go-to AI detecting extension. The in-depth report and diagrams of writing patterns are very helpful, but they do take a while a load. I would love to have a paid version all the time!
- (2024-02-15) Kimberly Newberry: For the most part it seems to be really reliable and helpful in tracking student cheating. I only wish we were not limited in the free version. I'm not sure whether my school will pay for it or not.
- (2024-02-15) Brian Nuckols: This is a incredibly helpful tool that improves my writing workflow.
- (2024-02-09) Tania: Its so helpful, I wish there wasn't limited times we can use it though. Otherwise it's very accurate.
- (2024-02-08) Jinxed: Really reliable and easy to use and having an extension makes it even more better.
- (2024-02-08) EJ Park: One of the most convenient and reliable AI produced text detector. Having it available as an extension in Chrome makes a lot of sense. Easy and convenient to use.
- (2024-02-07) Juliette Diggs De Soto: As far as I can tell, Origin seems to be accurate in detecting AI written work. It has helped me immensely in my work as a professor.
- (2024-02-07) Clinical Analytics: Awesome extension! Very useful for my day to day work. Overall, very accurate for spotting AI generated text. A must for bloggers and content creators.
- (2024-02-07) Eileen Wang: Awesome extension! Really helps me with my writing assignments for school. This is really a must need for any student, journalist or writer. I've used several "AI detectors", and this one is the most accurate and reliable. I highly recommend!
- (2024-02-06) Amos MCINTOSH: It is good to help me identify possible uses of AI. It has help me to navigate through writings and give appropriate feedback.
