• (2021-02-03) Andy Hoster: Why don't any of these fake-news-bias-checker extensions ever do anything at all? CNN, Fox News, the friggin' Associated Press? Nothing. Just sits there, nothing under it when you click on it. Are they all just malware delivery vehicles for suckers, or what? Reported.
• (2020-10-03) Sugar Sugarplum: It's left-biased. It should have a giant "L" for CNN but for some reason they failed to rate it. FoxNews listed as Right Bias even though they are a mixed bag at best. ABC and CBS - OK, Left Center. Twitter/Facebook not rated as leftists. Buzzfeed, not rated BabylonBee is good. Also checked ZeroHedge, Junkscience, If you're on the left and you want another leftist to hold your hand and tell you that what you already believe is true, knock yourself out.
• (2020-09-11) PJRoRo: Great extension. I'm so glad I no longer have to go to mediabiasfactcheck.com every time I want to see a news source's bias. However, I do wish that it showed the bias of the source on next to the link on Google. It would save the burden of having to go to the source's website to see the rating. Just a general tip: You're better off using sources that show an LC (Left-Center), C (Center) , RC (Right-Center), or PS (Pro-Science) rating. Avoid Q (Questionable) and CP (Conspiracy-Pseudoscience) sites at all costs.

• (2020-07-17) Eric Wagner: It's great that this exists. However, as others have mentioned, the data is out of date. In some ways, this extension is now doing a disservice to the community by offering inaccurate information without providing any clues that it may no longer be accurate. For example, as of 7/17/20, the extension shows The Guardian as having High factual reporting. According to archive.org, that site has had a Mostly Factual or Mixed rating since at least 4/22/20—3 months ago. I also find it odd that the author, Jeffrey Carl Faden, uses "Official Media Bias Fact Check" in the title of this extension, without providing evidence of his relationship to the site.
• (2020-06-22) Stanley Charles: Extension works well for the most part, but it doesn't show the most current information from the MBFC website. For example, Huffpost is still rated as having a "mostly factual" credibility rating, but the MBFC website rates Huffpost as having a "mixed" factual rating as of 6/22/2020. Also, some websites that have pages on the MBFC website are not recognized by this extension, either.
• (2020-01-23) Doug Myerscough: Works very well. Fair assesments of bias although I know there is no scientific way to judge. The fact checking is in line with all of the most reliable fact checking sites.

• (2019-10-12) Whatever And Ever: Worked great at first - Can't say enough about this company's continuing endeavor; progress in covering an exponentially growing number of websites, ongoing commitment to refining/improving its process and ESPECIALLY transparency rivaled only by a select few sites, and then none to my knowledge in this area. Consumer Reports comes to mind, but obv with transparency enforced neutrality possibly on par with MBFC and certainly worthy of mad respect given CR accomplished its feats decades ago BEFORE taking its print magazine and creating a website around it, MBFC's very nature, the very question it answers is, by definition, much trickier. Starting with a noble dream so ambitious, MBFC - and this extension - deserves kudos. But I can't give it the rating I was looking forward to posting because it stopped working on Chrome for me (all other stuff is fine, I was a web designer for many years...not saying it is impossible that anything on my end is causing this, but highly improbable). The icon doesn't change on any site, not Mother Jones OR Fox News, nothing anymore. And now when i go to the actual MBFC site the particularly weird thing is there are no respective graphics next to sites carrying labels from left to right and everything in between, they all have the generic icon I see on the extension. Such an ambitious dream as theirs is noble, and to make such a dream a LASTING reality is a gift to humanity (sorry if dramatic, but in these times I believe everyone no matter our opinions needs this information right now). So I'm earnestly hoping they get this thing back on track, or, if there is some reason why my system is no longer compatible, that they respond on here and help me fix it. I've come to rely on the site, and would hate to think I can't use that anymore.

• (2019-09-17) daniel: In the age of media where it may be hard to recognizing real news with fact based backing and news that is propaganda, low fact based and or to aimed to steer up their political leading and influence their audience. It is important to finally know the real true ''media bias'', where they sit on the political spectrum to their ''factual level''. We tend to accept news that we agree with and our ''ideology'' vs news that is fact based. Solving a problem is first ''recognizing'' it and this app with help you weed out the fact vs fiction.
• (2019-08-15) Artex Jay: Has far more bias than expected. Newsguard has been said to have some bias but this extension takes it to another level. On many sites that newsguard has reported as having very good journalistic integrity this extension labels as having questionable sources as well as not seemingly having an accurate rating of the level of reporting such as Judicial Watch, and many others. Sometimes it doesn't even have a rating. There is no way to check how they grade each website for their integrity or for their factual reporting. Thus this is inferior to Newsguard. At least Newsguard tries to be unbiased.
• (2019-06-10) Darren Skidmore: Very useful, but not without error. On some websites the icon appeared and only a blank white window would appear on click. The error was "Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute 'add' on 'DOMTokenList': The token provided ('VERY HIGH') contains HTML space characters, which are not valid in tokens."
• (2018-12-28) Ayya Sobhana: I like Media Bias Fact Check. Writing to inform the developers of a problem. It is occasionally showing INCORRECT bias rating. For example this page gets the icon for "Left" : https://www.themaven.net/theresurgent/ But it is actually conservative. A subsidiary of Erick Erickson and the content is actually conservative. On the Media Bias Fact Check website I could not find any part of the resurgent with a Left rating. I thought you would like to know. Thanks for listening

• (2018-08-03) Paul Atkinson: This is super helpful when I see an article from an unknown source. The group's methodology is good, and public, so I feel reasonably confident they're reporting bias accurately. Anything outside the LC-RC range is generally not to be taken seriously. Fantastic work.
• (2018-07-22) Filiz VZ: I can't read the news without this extension. It is so useful and it tells you right away the bias of the media source. Even better you can click on the icon and go straight to the related page on the media bias fact check website to see briefly why they rated it that way.

• (2017-10-05) Jesse Germinario: This is a simple but powerful tool that helps you see the bias on any news website you visit. I've had it installed for the past year and still find myself pleasantly surprised by its helpfulness when I navigate to an unfamiliar site.
• (2017-08-30) Kimberly Brosan: This is an excellent tool to keep you aware of the bias of sources you're reading online. If a site hasn't been evaluated yet, you can even submit it to be checked for you. I'm a school librarian and will be having students add this extension to Chrome next week so that they are able to use it anytime they're doing online research. I love that the notes about the site pop right up so you can read MBFC's assessment of the site right there without having to visit the site. It means that students are more likely to actually check why the site has been rated the way that it was.

  I may have missed it somewhere (apologies if that's the case), but this extension obviously sends every single URL I visit to your servers, which seems to pose a tremendous privacy concern. Can you talk about... 1) Do URLs get truncated down to the top level domain (e.g. cnn.com not cnn.com/path/to/story) or are they sent in full or some other form? 2) What types of processing happens on the client side? What about the server side? 3) Any chance of the ability for the privacy-focused among us to have a version of this that just downloads a list of domains and their corresponding rating + pertinent details? Just wondering if our entire web browsing history is sitting on your servers, and weighing the risks/benefits of that, versus an implementation that's a little more focused on the user's right to privacy, which I think MBFC would respect.

  This hasn't actually worked for some time now. Is it ever going to be fixed? It doesn't "check" anything! When I first added it a year or so ago, it worked fine, now nothing. Is it being hampered by other extensions, possibly? I loved it and used it all day when it worked. I'll just get rid of it if no one has any suggestions or bothers to fix it.

  About four weeks ago, I posted a support question about the extension only working on some media outlets but not others. After checking again today (before recommending the extension at a state of Idaho professional development workshop for teachers), I found that it's not working on any media websites I visit (tested on Vox, CNN, Fox News, Breitbart, National Review). Any chance you'll be working on a fix? I often recommend this extension to schools and libraries as it's a great digital literacy tool.

  Hello, The extension is useful and convenient, however I often find myself still having to go back to MBFC anyway to find out if it's an Extreme Right or Extreme Left website. It would be much easier if these gradations and letters were already on the icon. Example: Fox News (solid right) and NewsBusters (extreme right) are *not* the same thing, but the extension treats them as if they are, labelling both with a simple red "R." It would be more accurate (as well as useful and convenient) to match MBFC's ratings by identifying Fox as "R" and NewsBusters as "ER." Thank you for all the work you do to help correctly identify the bias of news sources and improve this product!

  Hey there, Firstly, I'd like to thank you for this app. I think it's a fairly pragmatic approach in helping people to avoid their own cognitive bias', because if you're aware it, then you're less likely to become victim to it; assuming of course, that people aren't using it as a way of deliberately avoiding the sources that oppose their own views. Anyway, here's my issue: I'm seeing the icon change colour and provide a letter to indicate the presence of bias, but when I click the icon to learn more about it, I'm only seeing a small window that shows the text from the bottom of the 'note' window. I added it to my uBlock Origin whitelist, but it still doesn't appear to be functioning. If I click the icon multiple times, it sometimes opens the window fully - but it's a pain in the arse. If you have any suggestions on how to remedy this, I'm all ears. Warmest Regards,
