It just shows you what it would look like if the words were different, it doesn't actually change anything that you are inputting. You can't, for example, change all instances of "Ohoi" to "Ohio" and then press enter and have it corrected, because they immediate change back to "Ohoi". It's a visual gag. It's not a real replacement.
• (2025-04-02) Asleep With Dreams: It's a great extension, but the new version is buggy. It used to remove whole lines and spaces with regex; also, the 'run-all' stopped working. Hopefully, this will get fixed in the next version, other than that, it was a great extension for find/replace.

This app is a little less intuitive than others, but it's actually very simple—it's also very powerful when you know how to use it. I highly recommend it.
• (2024-12-12) Robert Iggleden: Doesn't actually replace the data. Ran S&R for September/ December after I run the screen shows December, when I save the form they all switch back to September. I see in another review that the developer responded by saying it's impossible. "Google Form's data storage and display are separate. This extension can only replace the display content but can't edit the form's core data. There is no way to do this replacement with the technology I know of." I don't see how this is useful if it doesn't replace the data; it's just a waste of time. I guess I'll go back to copying and pasting over and over again instead.

• (2024-08-21) Mark Lindsay: Unbelievable! I had a cloud app with 170+ fields that had to have a search and replace performed. In Word this would be no problem, but on a cloud app w/o S/R functionaility, it took me a long time mamnually to do the first form. After that I said there must be a better way. Then I found this extension and it did the remaining forms instantly...nearly 500 replacements in all.

However, after saving the document and refreshing the page, the changes revert back to the original text. It appears that the tool might not work correctly on pages with multiple 'individual boxes' or input fields. Could you please confirm if this is the case and suggest any possible solutions? However, I have problem running regular expression for some cases. For example, I want to run this regex, (?s)(\[\/mp4\])(?!.*(?1)), to find the last mp4 tag. It works on regex101.com but not on your extension (nor the other extension called Find and Replace for Text Editing). But when I change the regex to (\[\/mp4\](?![\s\S]*\[\/mp4\])), it works on the mentioned extension but not on yours. Perhaps you can give me an idea where you test your regex. Thanks! PS: The Highlight function doesn't work.

I do a lot of AI-generated transcript editing, and this is a lifesaver for fixing names, industry terms, etc. I just changed part of my workflow to use Google Docs because this has worked so well. But unfortunately, I can't get it to run in Google Docs. It doesn't detect the items I'm setting up rules for. Works great on every other domain so far. Would love to see this work with Google Docs. I JUST discovered it used it for a short period of time and now realize that I'm already needing to use it less and less... because those particular words no longer show up. Unless, this tool is running in the background. That would be pretty crazy. I would love to add some suggestions if possible. Allow AI replace features. You can even allow us to use our own open AI api keys and whatever word I don't like, it will search and automatically change to something different that makes sense without me having to decide. That would be cool
• (2024-01-11) Jeff Suan: I think it's a great tool. My only issue is when I attempt to edit an item, make changes and then click save, it doesn't change the item. Instead it creates a new item with the changes and leaves the old item. This quicky ends up being tedious when it comes to searching to find the old one and make sure to remove it.
