Image from store Debugger for Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Description from store Google Analytics (GA) Debugger is a Chrome DevTools extension for Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tracking information to its own tab in the Chrome Developer Tools. This extension supports a debug_mode parameter so that you can monitor events in Admin > DebugView on the GA4 report and the Chrome Developer Tools. It is also possible to opt out tracking events during the testing sessions so GA data can be kept clean. You will get a new tab in your Chrome DevTools: 📶 GA4 Debugger if a current site in the Chrome browser tab uses GA4 tracking.

  • (2025-03-06) Jackie Rosenzveig: Was working perfectly for years, but now basically catches nothing except page load events - validated with multiple people in my org. Seems the latest Chrome version might have some conflicts or something. Please check and fix, because when it's working, this extension is an essential part of my work!
  • (2025-02-25) Azat Zalyaev: It's not working for debugging GA4 events for chrome extension unfortunately
  • (2024-11-22) James Banks: This extension is incredibly helpful—thank you! You’re a lifesaver for GA4 debugging.
  • (2024-11-21) Matt Walker: Debug mode not working. When Debug mode is activated, no debug parameter visible in events, no events showing up in GA4 Debug View
  • (2024-10-22) Afzal Shamim: Not working at all
  • (2024-10-08) Harro Heijboer: Not working with Google Tag Manager, so useless when implementing correctly
  • (2024-09-04) Rodney Jaspers: great extension, use it daily!
  • (2024-08-29) Raquel Ibanez: In my case, the extension is not retrieving info on the left block. Anyone knows why? Thanks
  • (2024-08-01) Greg: This extension is fantastic, and I use it daily. Ignore the freeloaders' negative reviews—they don't appreciate having such a great tool for free. Keep up the excellent work!
  • (2024-07-10) Alex Merrick: Great start, it's not ready to be a daily driver without the copy and paste function and also the events don't start loading until you activate the tab which make it impossible to see some events like first_visit that happen before you activate the GA4 debugger tab. Also I'm confused about the Data Layer function, I'm not seeing any Data layer payloads fire.
  • (2024-07-08) Nelson Amaya: Great extension! What's the difference between the events shown in the left panel and the ones in the right panel (DataLayer)?
  • (2024-07-05) Stephen Jeyarajah: It is a great extension, as below. However, it would be good if we could copy and paste the text for the GA debugger.
  • (2024-06-10) akari kurai: Thank you for the wonderful extension! Previously, I was able to copy the text from "ga4-panel" and "gtm-panel", but now I can't, right? Is there a reason why you have set "user-select:none"? If possible, I would like you to make it possible to copy the text from "ga4-panel" and "gtm-panel". The extension you made is really wonderful! Thank you always!
  • (2024-04-05) Ian Lotinsky: Thanks for creating this, James! Sometimes the DataLayer on the right misses the page_view event but registers in the event list. Is that because it never enters the DataLayer or is this a timing bug in your extension?
  • (2024-01-30) Rick Kukiela: Seems to work good except it does not work for sites where the GA4 tag is inserted via Google Tag Manager so I deducted a star.
  • (2023-12-21) Cuong Luong Chi: Great to track the existing events and learning from the other websites.
  • (2023-11-23) Augusto Fornitani: Great addon! Also very helpful for setting events in GTM.
  • (2023-11-06) Christopher Catchpoole: Great for web. Simple, intuitive and no learning curve, especially if you've used similar debuggers in the past.

  • (2023-08-19) Igor Santos: Doesn't exactly help in my scenario - I'm trying to piece out what's going on with a hybrid app and it simply doesn't show any event. Works fine on the website, though - although the interface is a bit ugly and could get some extra love.

  • (2023-06-16) noah jy: As far as I know, there are 3 extensions that work for debugging GA4 but this extension is the best GA4 debugger. I use it every day. It is not complicated as other debuggers and everything is intuitive. Love it.

  • (2023-06-15) Nick Vincent: Used to work great, now unusable as it no longer shows up in the Dev Tools, therefore is completely inaccessible and unusable. Tried across multiple Chrome profiles, tried uninstalling and reinstalling -- simply never appears in the Dev Tools (also confirmed GA4 running on sites tested).
  • (2022-11-02) sangmoon high: Great! It is easy to use and has enough features to debug.
