Description from store
Are you tired of having too many tabs open and losing track of which ones belong together? Auto Tab Groups is here to help!
This extension promotes ease of use by automatically grouping tabs from the same source domain into organized groups, saving you time and effort. Unlike other tab manager extensions, Auto Tab Groups takes care of the heavy lifting for you, making it easy to navigate through all of your open tabs without introducing extra workload for users. Try Auto Tab Groups and experience the convenience of a well-organized tab system.
Functionality:
- Auto Grouping
Automatically detect tabs with the same source domain and put them into
the same tab group.
- Auto Ordering
Push the last active tab to the first position of its tab group. Frequently
visited tabs would always be found at the left section of the tab group.
- Customize Grouping
Users can create custom tab groups.

- (2025-01-27) SG Park: I've been looking for extensions that care about single tabs. Other extensions I've tried so far just ignore them, which is quite annoying because when I turn off Chrome, those ungrouped tabs are lost. However, as other reviewers have said, it would be better if single tabs were handled better instead of being categorized as 'Other.' Why not give them their own separate groups?

- (2025-01-09) David K.: Somehow, it makes a lot of groups of tabs which are synced to my Chrome, then in the bookmark bar on the left, there are tens/hundreds of "other" tab groups, which I occasionally try to reopen and close tabs one by one to make that group disappear, but there are still a lot of them... It also makes a mess on my Android phone Chrome, where I see "unclosed tabs" filled with those tab groups
- (2024-10-05) Gary Watts: This is great. It makes Brave's implementation of vertical tabs usable for me. Vanilla Brave moves new tabs to the bottom of the tab bar, which makes it feel really awkward to use as I find my eyes darting back and forth for a few seconds to find the tab. I'd originally downloaded this as I was looking for a Brave version of Auto Container Tabs and this seemed to fit the bill for tab management. But I accidentally left it on while doing something completely unrelated to testing it out (I was just showing a friend how many tabs of downloads I had open) and it suddenly made it intuitive. I didn't even expect it to work with a feature not in Chrome by default. Definitely keeping. If you're a Brave user try it!!!! It's also "set and forget" which makes it more usable than the Firefox extension equivalent I was looking for.
- (2024-09-10) Amri Abuthahir: Elevory you can delete or edit the name of the other category by right clicking on it
- (2024-08-15) Hahn Loh: I love the extension. Auto-ordering and grouping work fine, but I’d like more customization options for how they function. While I don’t dislike the ‘Other’ tab, I believe a more elegant solution would be to have these new/single tabs ungrouped in one place. Tried multiple similar extensions, and I think I’ll stick with this one for now. Hopefully, it gets improved further.
- (2024-01-05) Nina Donovan: Was great, but suddenly has started to ignore my pinned tabs and pulls them into categories as soon as I open a new tab, making them impossible to find again.

- (2023-06-14) Elevory: Tried a bunch of extensions with the same idea, this one is probably the best. However, it still isn't perfect: - It forcibly creates an "Other" group for domains with only one tab. I cannot rename or delete this group. - There is no way to override the auto-grouping with custom rules for specific domains.

- (2023-06-01) Anthony Brooks: I'm in agreement with Albert's review. For just automatically grouping, it's fine. If you don't want to set up custom tab groups for things that you're just visiting (across multiple sites), it would be nice if the plugin would allow you to move things into those groups rather than automatically moving them back to "Other" or their own named tab group. It would also be nice to be able to rename the groups without making custom tab groups and adding the URLs since sometimes they can get pretty lengthy by just copying the site name.

- (2023-03-14) Albert Garcia: If you don't care how your tabs get groups, then this will do the job well. However, I don't want all my tabs from one website to be in the same group, i.e. maybe 5 google tabs and 2 youtube videos are related to one search and 4 google tabs and 3 wikipedia pages are related to another search, and I would like those two groups to remain separate. This extension give you the option to create your own tab groups and drag tabs into the group. However, those tabs get automatically deleted after a few seconds. If you turn off all the automatic grouping features, you still end up with your manually made groups deleting themselves, so this extension ends up being useless if you want to manually group a set of tabs.
