The "Metadata Viewer" extension allows you to read metadata headers in image, audio, video, and PDF files. It utilizes the ExifTool library by Phil Harvey to read metadata information in the file header of a wide range of file formats. The extension runs on an isolated window. It can read many metadata including EXIF, and ID3.
Features:
Recognizes thousands of different tags
Reads maker notes on many digital cameras
Reads timed metadata (e.g. GPS track) from videos
Reads structured XMP information.

- (2025-07-13) omegatron: Works, but only in a separate window with local files only?? Shows comprehensive EXIF data, which is good, but you can't use it to view EXIF of the web image you're looking at, so I don't know why it's a Chrome extension. Oh if you click Options, there is an option "Show right-click context menu for image elements to inspect metadata" that is not selected by default. With that selected, it becomes the best EXIF addon. It shows comprehensive EXIF data unlike the other chrome addons.
