Extension to return old Twitter layout from 2015 (or 2018). WORKS IN 2024!
This extension doesn't add any CSS on top of original Twitter. It's fully different client that replaces original new Twitter client, making it faster than alternatives that just add style on top of Twitter. This extension requires you to be logged in to Twitter account.
Please visit https://twitter.com/old/settings after installing to make it work just as you like. It switches to chronological timeline by default, you can switch back to algorithmical timeline in settings.
You can visit unchanged Twitter by visiting https://twitter.com?newtwitter=true.
The code is open source! Check https://github.com/dimdenGD/OldTwitter to see the code and report any issues.

I would give 5 stars but the videos only play for 1 second. the rest is pretty great. one other thing that would be nice, if I could "X" out the "Trends" sidebar. Thanks! :) May 21, 2024 Edit: tried out this extension again recently, the videos are much better, have another star. Although they're able to continue playing even after interacting, and can be played again in the comment section window in unison. Also the polls display correctly, but can't be interacted with unless in new Twitter. BTW the previous suggestion still stands :)

- (2023-11-13) purble place enjoyer: I've been using this extension for about a week or so, and I can already tell how much my Twitter experience has improved since I installed it. Not only does it now look better, but the performance has also become much more responsive. I truly hope the developer will continute the support of this extension.
- (2023-11-10) ⃣: It's honestly a very good extension however it will make your Chrome constantly eat loads of cpu usage even at idle. Just open any Twitter page with the extension on and check Chrome's integrated task manager ( ⋮ -> More tools -> Task manager) to see for yourself. I've tested this one 2 PC's and I don't recommend to use this until it is addressed.

- (2023-10-29) David Allen: It looked promising, but I couldn't see a way to pin my favourite lists for 1-click access, which I make extensive use of. That dropped 1 star. The other two are because every time I disable it, and when I remove it, Chrome crashed. Running latest Chrome as of today. I guess this could be related to interactions with another extension. The toolbar icon looks a bit odd from normal viewing distance. I appreciate the idea and will return for another check in a few months.

I noticed a high usage of my internet using more than 100 megas and when I used a program to see why I noticed that a video from the odysee website was playing hiddenly!!
