Description from store HP Support Assistant Chrome OS is HP's official simple and user-friendly customer support app that provides various diagnostic tools and many different support options for HP Chrome devices. With this extension, you can experience the app via the URL (listed below), launch the experience as an application, and pin the application to your Chrome taskbar. This application allows you to access real-time health information on your device by running in-app diagnostic tools. The battery test allows you to gain insights into the health of your battery to determine if your power source is charging at the rate optimally. The system memory diagnostic tool allows you to monitor your memory health. HP Support Assistant also makes it easy to access your warranty information while providing customer support options based on your geographic location. You can also create and manage your support cases. If you are having trouble with your device and would like to get guided troubleshooting the automated Virtual Assistant is available for you at all times. • (2024-02-26) Sharon N: Hi all, in the instructions it says AFTER you install the extension, then paste this link in your Chrome browser: https://hpcs-appschr.hpcloud.hp.com/ I picked the 'Guest' method for access and the diagnostics for CPU; Memory; Connectivity (WiFi); ran OK for me. In a separate section for storage, it showed the Hard drive: 128 GB eMMC okay, but gave me this message 'Please run storage check to view storage status.' I did not find this 'storage check' button to run.

  • (2024-02-09) Kevin Westendorf: In order to use this extension you need to have the HP Support Assistant app installed as well. I guess it uses the extension to grab the data and execute the tests etc but without the app I guess I can see where it is useless.
  • (2024-01-12) rollerotr1: I have the HP Chromebook Plus. Downloading and installing the HP Support Assistant, the Chrome Web extension was easy to install. But what does it do? It does not put an icon on the taskbar or anywhere else. I went to the HP website, created an account, added a device (this Chromebook), then attempted to access drivers, manuals, diagnostics, etc. Other than the warranty tab, all other tabs led to broken (I'm Sorry) links! I called HP support and was told that if I wanted to access device info and diagnostics (not HP specific), I needed to enter Chrome OS via "crosh" program to view internals and run diagnostics. I did not get a clear answer as to the "current" purpose of the Chrome Web extension. If someone reads this and has some answers....please respond to this review!
