Manage your tabs vertically and browse quicker!
Before you begin...
• Outside of Chrome, Brave, and Edge, I cannot guarantee this will work. Please DO NOT review the extension unless you are using Chrome or Brave browsers. Other browsers that supposedly support chrome extensions can be added if you submit a GitHub issue or by emailing [email protected].
• Please submit a support request (by email, Github issue, or through the Chrome Web Store support feature) before providing a less than 5 star review. I will immediately fix whatever it is that prevents you from using the extension so that you can provide a 5 star review. Thanks!

= The Problem
Lots of horizontal tabs at the top of the browser pile up and become tiny. If they have the same favicon, or even with similar site titles, they become painful to search through quickly. This is a massive time waster for multitaskers like you!
============
= Our Solution
We open and attach a panel ("VLT") window to the left of your normal browser window and inside of it vertically list tabs, groups, etc. This should allow for large number of tabs to be visible at once and maintain the width of tab titles, increasing visual scanning and targeting speed for a specific tab.
==============
= Getting Started
1. Install the extension.
2. Click the puzzle piece button in the top right of the browser, exposing the available extensions.
3. Pin the Vertically Listed Tabs extension, which exposes its icon right next to the puzzle piece at the top right.
4. Click on the VLT button (the one next to the puzzle piece). Note: If it's a maximized/fullscreen window, we will downsize the window so the VLT panel can be attached to the left side.
5. In the list, hover over the tab's icon (the small image on the left) to expose the toolbar, allowing closing, grouping, pinning, etc.
==============
= Features
• The VLT window with vertical tabs opens and sits on the left or right of your browser window (under options) and, if you resize it, will automatically adjust. Note: Windows 10/11/etc has an invisible border around browser windows and will look different from macOS and the screenshots I take.
• Right click the extension icon and open Options, allowing you to control Background Color, Default Width, etc.
• Click tabs to focus them in the main window.
• Click, hold for 1 second, and then drag tabs to reorganize.
• Hover over the icon for the tab on the left side to expose a toolbar, including features like Tab Close, Group, Pin, and Pause.
• Groups are color coated!
• Group collapsing and bulk pausing or closing.
• Rename group titles from the VLT window.
• Detach the VLT window from the main window and move it to a different monitor.
• Support for Windows "snap" and MacOS "tile" features, allowing VLT to be shown along side of a full screened Window. Example image: https://i.imgur.com/Nwg2h6z.png
• Unfocusing on the browser to use another app, and then clicking on either the VLT or primary window will bring both the VLT and primary window to front.

- (2023-03-21) Dan: I'm glad, I found it! Convenient, if you work with many tabs at the same time. Does its job :) Just an idea on what can be useful to add: date and time of the last update on each tab..?
- (2023-02-14) Christopher Valentino: Awesome! Expedites my work, makes organization super easy, and is really intuitive to use. A must-have!
- (2023-02-14) Win Pierce: This extension was so easy to use and has made me so much more productive at work. As someone who does tons of project management and scientific research, I constantly have to say "sorry, I have so many tabs open" when on meetings. This extension has completely eliminated this problem and has saved me tons of time in managing the windows and tabs I have open. Highly recommend for everyone working in corporate America :)
- (2023-02-04) Josh Knoedler: Couple issues I'm having: 1) I have 2 screens. When I activate VLT on screen 2 it pops it over to screen 1. Any way to fix this? 2) Also when I activate VLT the browser window shrinks down to about half the size of my screen. I then have to go and resize it every time because it's so small. Can I set the size or save it so I don't have to resize every time?
- (2023-01-13) Dorian Wills: It didn't work at all. Nothing happened. Tried restarting my browser etc. Windows 10 21H2
- (2023-01-12) Eversong: Very elegant solution, allows to work with fullscreen Chrome window while having the list of tabs on the second monitor, regardless of the orientation/resolution. Easy enough to add own background colors in the options via configuration file. A couple problems I've noticed: 1) With multiple windows, the tab list calls the correct window, but doesn't bring the window on top; 2) Group coloring and overall color settings for the font/tabs are non-existant. Colored group marker is one of the strongest features for tab management, would be nice if you can figure out how to inherit group color property and display it the vertical list.
- (2022-11-24) Thomas Solomon: Having a separate window to help me organize my open tabs is very useful and a great addition to my chrome browser. I have this plugin downloaded on my work and personal laptop.
- (2022-11-21) Mike Manfredi: This makes _so much more sense_ than tabs across the top that are too small to tell you what's in them. I keep a ridiculous number of tabs open (it's an addiction), so this helps immensely when I got so many tabs I can barely see the icons for each site...
- (2022-11-17) Michael Ambrose: Awesome addition to Chrome! Being able to have a seperate window with my tabs helps me organize my work better. The plugin is simple, clean, & works well.
