  • (2025-08-03) Christopher: It's a great tool. I'm back in grad school and i've found that as i've gotten older, it's tougher to comprehend what i'm reading so speechify allows me to focus better on what i'm what i'm reading by allowing me to follow along. So the combination of hearing and seeing what i'm reading helps me comprehend and remember what i'm consuming. Highly recommend for anyone that needs some help with learning or just to listen to books, articles, or whatever you're in to.

  • (2025-05-29) Fred: 3-1/2 stars. The Chrome and Edge extensions are very good, as far as I can tell. The android and Windows apps, not so much. They have major issues with Kindle, among other things. But I have never known the browser extensions to mess anything up. Stick to those and let the developers keep working on the others for a while.
  • (2025-05-23) Caitlyn: This app has become my Bestie! I have been using Speechify for everything since I've downloaded the app and let me tell you for someone that prefers to listen to the text on the screen, this app has become my best friend! Thank you speechify! <3
  • (2025-05-22) Jesse: I've been using Speechify for a few years now and feel like I get my money's worth. Even with more and more apps come out with native 'read aloud' features, none really compare to speechify and I find myself constantly exporting out the text to speechify to do the job. I love it when it just on the web so I don't have to export and I just use the extension.
  • (2025-05-13) JG: I have to admit when I first got This app it was kind of an accident; I was a little irritated. But I decided to go ahead and try it since I do have issues but led me to the trial in the first place. I have to say I don't know how I'll ever go back now this has been absolutely mind blowing in life offering sounds dramatic well maybe it does tries yourself see what you think if you really need help or if you need to be able to consume a lot of information while you're also doing other tasks it's priceless

  • (2025-04-19) Natalia: Great for reading textbooks for school.
  • (2025-04-05) I: Extremely worth Getting as an extension. I hope they come up with new AI narration voices. I am satisfied with my product. Thank you to the developer team for creating such a great experience for the user.
  • (2025-03-25) Nadia: I'm a listener type student, not a reader type - so this tool is defiantly worth the investment, especially the add on extension for Chat GPT
  • (2025-03-24) AJ: I love Speechify. Helps me to read through manuscripts a lot easier.
  • (2025-03-16) Natalie: I have been having some issues reading long pieces of text and this app helped me a lot. Thank you for creating such a great app! 👍❤️
  • (2025-03-14) James: I've been using this for about a week. I'm now reading my stock market reports. I am reading some books with it at about 640 wpm using Emma's voice. I have been reading and listening and my brain is actually feeling like it's getting worked from processing so much info. I've had some challenges learning the set ups in Kindle and such, but the speed of learning and by going so fast, I'm forcing myself to not be distracted it is aiding in retention and learning.
  • (2025-02-28) Erin: I was actuly amazed by the Speechify App. IT was amazing how they got the way i sound to the tee. I think it just needs to work on how emotions change voice pitches and it will be perfect
  • (2025-02-20) Eric: Thank God for Speechify. You have made studying and reading a 1000% better for me. I couldn't live without it!
  • (2025-02-09) Anthony: Well worth the subscription. Eventually there will be a solution that provides buttery smooth AI voices for 0 subscription, but until that future time, Speechify is the place to efficiently read and listen to books. Hopefully they keep innovating such that they can justify the nonstop subscription price. I have personally enjoyed reading many books with them and probably will continue to do so solely to keep a track record of what I have read. Eventually their Subscription model gravy train should theoretically shrivel up due to advances in AI and competition, but for the last ~2 years I yet have found a free alternative that can execute as well for punctuation and comprehending pacing as Speechify. I can imagine The free model eventually being turned into what I presently have enjoyed given that they do in fact do lifetime licenses to people whom do referrals. After ~5-10 years people should be grandfathered into keeping the original premium features as free voices. 9.5/10
  • (2025-01-28) Chel: The only downside is not being able to remove citations fully in scholarly readings. Hearing Hall & Hall a million times can be distracting.
  • (2025-01-24) Thomas: Works as described, very happy with service.
  • (2025-01-22) Sam: 1. Works well but way too pricey. And making the month-to-month option exorbitantly expensive to incentivize an annual purchase is just manipulative and annoying. Tbh, I'm not even sure that drives higher overall revenue bc you miss out on a lot of m-to-m subs that way. 2. Intonation definitely also needs work. Don't get me wrong—it's prob the best option out there—but in a paragraph describing team performance, it read "We hit our quota. Thanks to you!" in the same monotone voice as it read the performance metrics. Things like that can throw one off and make it harder to separate out key info from the less important. As an enhancement, it would be cool if Speechify could 'pre-read' the content to better understand the context, to improve delivery. 3. The timing of pauses and breaks can also be improved. I listen on 1.5x speed and sometimes I feel like the pauses (sentences, commas, sections) are too short. Makes it sound like run-on sentences. Other than that, and PRICE, I love it.
  • (2025-01-21) Kristin: I simply can't do my work without speechify. As a grant writer, I have to read, process, and consolidate vast amounts of information and quickly. To do this quickly, listening while reading increases my retention by at least 50% making my work fast and efficient. But the real help was after I had a concussion from being hit by a car. Speechify actually helped my brain heal by allowing me to just listen until I could track words without headaches. Without the richness of literary works my life would have bleak. Thank you Speechify, you made a difference that probably saved my ability to work.
  • (2025-01-19) Marguerite: I have been using Speechify for a few years now and I have to say it is the best text to speech technology out there. I use it for readings for classes and research. As a doctoral student, this technology has helped me so much. I am dyslexic and have ADHD, so this software is everything you need to get your reading done. Also, I really enjoy the celebrities' voices! I wish more would be involved to hear other voices. You all need to get Beyoncé next!
  • (2025-01-18) Aaron: works great
  • (2024-12-30) Bill: This is so close to being the best thing out there. The way it will truly become the best is to allow the user to highlight an area and then read it. The requirement to get a screenshot of an area is useable for small paragraphs but is far too difficult to do for larger articles. And you need to figure out a way to read the 'next' article on those sites (like MSN com) that feature a new article underneath the one you just read. In those cases, you cannot read the second article.
  • (2024-12-02) Lost: After adopting this as my primary text-to-speech voice reader, I've encountered some issues. When the extension works, it's unparalleled. However, when it malfunctions, the problems are significant. For instance, the article reading feature ceases to function, refusing to read the content. Additionally, the extension sometimes stops working altogether, preventing the opening of the interface to highlight text or failing to read the highlighted text. As a free user who prefers the "David" voice option, I find the extension often switches to a premium voice, prompting an intrusive ad to subscribe or revert to the free voice, which, regrettably, seems to be missing or hidden. Using Edge on Linux exacerbates the issue, as there's no free voice option available, resulting in a relentless stream of ads. Consequently, I've discontinued using this tool as my primary text-to-speech voice reader due to its unreliability for daily use.
  • (2024-11-23) Angela: This software is great. It has helped me in so many areas of my life and has helped cut down on reading fatigue, so I am able to read more and read more comfortably.
  • (2024-10-08) LISVALDO: Streamlined tool and excellent voice quality.
  • (2024-10-07) Wilmer: Does not work well with large PDF, have to use the picture function. For a paid service I expect this little kinks to be resolved and taken care of. Thank you.
  • (2024-10-06) Adam: An amazing addition to MS Edge, when it works. A few times a year I have experienced this app stops working, most often when trying to read posts w/in Reddit. Also, I don't like the large onscreen menu that the app insists that it must be present on the page, or not use any of the apps' browser features. Why, I hate seeing that menu. Let me minimize, or close it when I'm browsing.
  • (2024-10-01) Hisham: It doesn't recognize a Word document on the web and won't read unless I take a screenshot
  • (2024-09-30) Rocky: PROS All around, Speechify is a great tool to add to help reading and studying. It's a cheat code to anyone who has that book collection, or a reading addiction. A lot of languages to choose from, and the speed helps improve reading performance. The customer support is helpful and friendly. CONS I wish the word count would sync web reading count with mobile app count. There is also a 400,000-word limit that is not mentioned in the subscription. AI voices chop in and out at times.
