The secret ingredient for a older (and better) looking YouTube.
PlayerTube is a free browser extension that is used for editing and changing up the style of the current YouTube player to a more older (and better) look.
PlayerTube provides lots of features & options that can change the YouTube player's functionality and/or look, each can be enabled or disabled from it's extension menu.
Users can customize the style of their YouTube player and share it across the web for others to use with custom theming. PlayerTube provides a whole page dedicated to it's custom themes feature so users can jump right in without looking up a YouTube tutorial.
Latest update (v1.9):
* Fixed styling for the new YouTube player style named, Delhi (I think is what it's called)
* Added a new option for toggling the "More Videos" feature when in fullscreen--toggled off by default
* Added a new option for toggling the fullscreen buttons that show on the bottom right
* Fixed 2006 fullscreen CSS
* Fixed a CSS issue with the thumbnail not showing up in the unstarted-mode state

- really good, the ui could be a bit bigger or maybe an option to toggle that (maybe I missed it) I'm used to the 2024 one now, would be great if that could be added somehow

- pls make the player 2024

- I downloaded this in hopes of removing the pain the new YouTube player brings me. In general, I'd say this is a fine replacement for the modern look. However, I have some gripes. Note, I am using Opera GX as opposed to Chrome, so some issues noted might not apply between browsers. For one, I am using the 2013 scrubber, and its center dot isn't exactly lined up with the bar itself, being a little pushed back. Additionally, the bar itself ends a little left/earlier than where the page actually ends. If an ad plays before a video, then the bar is fixed, but if you change viewing modes (moving from normal to theater mode, for example), then the bar's length is reduced once more. I do not know why this is the case, but it causes me to subconsciously want ads to appear. Finally, during ads, the bar's gray circle still appears on the yellow progress bar even though, from my memory, that was not the case (please disregard this point if my memory is incorrect). Still, this extension is an amazing must-download, it just needs some small refinements to be perfect in my OCD brain.

- With the new player UI, this is broken. Still, use it. Anything is better than that new piss-poor player.

- Fantastic. One star off because I was combining this with Youtube Redux, but the UI was cropped.

- This is great but I found the 2006 player glitches with the progress bar. Sometimes, especially when I go fullscreen, it will stretch to the full extent and obscure the other controls rather than keep in its box. If you could look into this, I would be most grateful. Thank you in advance.

- great job, but please be aware that youtube has now pushed a new player UI to the test. Even though your layout switcher does good at swapping the gradient bars, it does not reinstate the old button layout devoid of big opaque bubbles.

- Aside from the progress bar not being filled all the way and sometimes disappearing (this does not affect the fake bar option by the way), this is a really good extension, one worthy of being used alongside Youtube Redux. Edit: The progress bar disappearing has been mostly resolved (doesn't happen often), but the small piece of space at the end of the progress bar is still there. I'm wondering why it is, if the creator knows about it, and if it is possible to fix.

- More compact. Stops another extension from cluttering out and hiding the volume slider.

- Mostly works well, but as of late it has caused severe lag on YouTube, so I had to disable it. I hope this can be fixed soon!

- It's good, but a major flaw is that in my case, it seems that the player is a little too high and therefore when you watch a video a small part of the top sticks out. This then means that you see the video progressing live, which I'm quite sure is not how it went in the past (unless the dev can correct me on this and this was the intention). Even before the bar moves down when watching a video, you see the bar is a little too high and there's a gap between the video and the bar at its bottom. Would be great if there's a fix for it, or if the dev can fix it. EDIT: Indeed, it appears older youtube actually had this feature and I just did not remember after going through footage of it. It seems sadly the advice given on toggling the fake bar does not change anything for me...? But it seems the extension is largely doing its job, so thank you dev.

- OMG VERY GREAT! :D But i hope you fix it cuz when i applied the customtube, the end of the video player line is a bit broken, and so are some of the button, even without customtube it's still happening :( but still great!

- It's a bit broken, especially the 2006 player. In any case, it's better than a modern, flat player :)
