Painless English With Your Favorite Videos
Learning English on a daily basis shouldn't feel like a burden, but unfortunately, it often does for most people (including myself).
The mere idea of having to study English is overwhelming enough, not to mention the struggle of finding learning materials and actually dedicating time to study them.
That's why I created PACT, an extension that leverages your favorite movies, TV shows, or any videos with English subtitles on platforms like Youtube, Netflix, Udemy, and more, turning them into interactive language practice sessions.
Engaging in these practices makes it feel like the actors themselves are teaching you English.
PACT utilizes AI and linguistics to assess your English level automatically after you complete several practices, and it selects subtitles suitable for your level to facilitate your learning.
Moreover, it incorporates smartly spaced repetition techniques to effectively review and reinforce any content you struggle with.
Essentially, all you need to do is choose an English video you enjoy, and PACT will take care of the rest.
Please note that PACT is currently in a very early stage, and some of the mentioned features will be included in upcoming versions. Currently, only Youtube is supported.
HOW TO USE:
1. Install the PACT extension and click on the PACT logo in your browser toolbar to set your native language. (The default native language is based on your browser language, so this step may be optional.)
2. If you're preparing for an English test or wish to prioritize certain vocabulary domains (such as academic, business, legal, etc.), you can adjust these preferences in the settings. The selected words will then be prioritized for practice.
3. Choose a video and click the PACT logo in the lower-right corner. PACT will automatically pause the video and display the selected practice exercises when the subtitles are reached.
4. Enjoy!
