Features:

Instructions:
1. Open a YouTube video.
2. Click on the extension icon (in the chrome extensions toolbar, to the right of the address bar).
3. Wait for the extension popup to load a brief overview containing the YouTube channel, video title, total comments count etc.
4. In the info popup click on the Comment Reader icon. The Comment Reader opens in a new tab and starts loading comments (from newest to oldest).
5. Watch the progress while comments are loading.
6. Click OK to interrupt the loading process at any time to start reading the comments that has been loaded till then. When all comments are loaded, the progress view and interrupt button will disappear.
7. An interrupted loading process can be continued at any time if loading more comments is desired.
Tips:
Use (left, right, up, down) arrow keys to quickly navigate through comments and replies (although, of course, mouse clicks work as well).
➤ use up & down keys to go from one row to another
➤ use the right arrow key to dive into details (of a currently selected row)
➤ use the left arrow key to leave the details and return to parent list
➤ Quickly open any short video in a regular player (..so you can adjust the timeline, speed, volume etc.) by clicking the video description in the extension's popup
8. To reply to or upvote a comment you may click on the comment time (e.g. "6 hours ago") above the comment text. This will open a new regular YouTube window with the targeted comment (as the "highlighted comment") appearing immediately under the video player. That way you can interact via the regular YouTube user interface.

- (2024-06-10) Metallsturm: Finally, found an alternative to YCS after it stopped working. Great extension! The only suggestion is it would be nice if it would open on YouTube video's page, instead of a new tab. UPD: Been using it since late April 2024, and now by June 2024 I can safely say that it doesn't always load all the comments for real. If a video has several thousands of comments, it'll load last ~500 comments at best and that's all. Still, since YSC is still not working, this is so far the best alternative.
- (2024-05-30) Anthony Milton: Does exactly what I need it to. Used to use Youtube comment search extension, but it stopped working. Someone recommended this one. I LOVE that it opens the comments in another tab. Quickly indexes and searches the comments!!

- (2024-05-26) Riaz Ali: pro tip: once you click the toolbar icon that opens the popup, you can press 'Enter' to open the search page. It's easier to keep my hand on my mouse and use my thumb to press the numpad Enter key. Although, an option to open the search interface somewhere on the youtube video page would be nice

Another plugin called YouTube Comment Search put their results in the description tab and that worked really nicely and convenient but that plugin is no longer updated.

- (2024-04-08) Glenico Fernandez: YouTube Comment Reader 1.0.8 works great but doesn't work on Incognito tabs. Instead, it redirects you to the New Tab (not the incognito tab), and nothing happens. I also want an option where you can show comments and replies that the author likes, from verified authors, from channel members, from users who have donated, timestamps, and chat replay, like in YouTube Comment Search. Can you put it between the video's description and comment section like YouTube Comment Search? (Though, this is just a nitpick.)
