Several enhancements to the Dreaming Spanish website to make your experience better and give you greater visibility into your personal language learning journey.
* Add YouTube videos to your outside content watched with one click!
* Insights chart on the Progress page so you can see which guides, Spanish dialects, difficulty levels, and types of comprehensible input you consume each month.
* See video difficulty scores all the time, on every page.
* Adds publication dates to videos and when each video was added to your personal playlist.
* Improve the auto-play behavior: play videos with no delay and automatically stop when your daily goal is reach.
You have total control. You can turn on or turn off each of these improvements individually using the extension's menu.
This extension does not gather or store any of your personal data. It does not interact with any website other than dreamingspanish.com and youtube.com. With the exception of adding YouTube videos to your outside content, all of the enhancements it provides happen in your local browser only and don't affect your Dreaming Spanish account.
Some technical details--
There is a limit to what can be shown about your video watching history because of what Dreaming Spanish records and doesn't record about the videos you watch. In particular, if you watch a video more than once, the extension only has information about the most recent time. Also, if you skip forward or backward while watching a video, the extension's best estimate of the amount of time you watched can be incorrect. There's not much the extension can do to fix this; the necessary data simply isn't recorded anywhere.
When in doubt, trust the watch time from Dreaming Spanish. It's totals are correct, even if the details in the Insights chart are sometimes off a little.
For the "Send to Dreaming Spanish" button to work on the YouTube History page, you must also have a Dreaming Spanish tab open somewhere. Currently this feature only works if your YouTube History page is in English.
I hope you enjoy the extra insights, but remember that the important thing is to watch a ton of content and enjoy the process!

Seems to work well overall for tracking videos and time and integrating with DS site. Update: 8/10 Buttons to transfer views from youtube have disappeared.... Update: 8/14 Buttons are back!!! Soy Feliz!
- (2024-08-14) Shari A: The same issue that Sidney Irvine had happened to me. After August 6th, there were no longer the yellow buttons on YT to do the transfers. I uninstalled and reinstalled the extension as well as Chrome to no avail. I loved the extension until I could no longer do the transfers. I'm on Mac running latest OS. I also have premium YT. ETA: Chris, thank you for the response. The extension is again working. I was wondering if the problem was with YouTube not the extension. Keep up the good work!
- (2024-08-02) Oliver Steinmeier: Just found this extension, and it seems excellent. Would second the request from Adam on 5/4/2024 for a data export feature. Also, is there a way to view the statistics on the Progress page not month by month, but for my entire time with DS? Thanks for making this extension! Update (8/1/2024): I watched three videos today. Two by Pablo, one by Shelcin. All three appear in my view history on the "Library" tab. But the Insights extension only seems to count the two Pablo videos. It only shows that I viewed two videos, both by Pablo, and the only Dialect is "Spain". Any idea why that is the case? The Shelcin video was actually the first I watched today (this month). Some sort of "off-by-one" error where the first (zeroth?) video isn't counted?
- (2024-05-04) Adam Jason: Honestly awesome, love this so much; big data nerd but don't have the skills to do something like this (yet). Only thing that could make it better if there was a way to simply download all the data / analytics into an excel file so can then make our own charts etc.
