I HATE having different applications or documents for notes and this app keeps everything organized in one place. There were a couple of times where the last paragraph or so I wrote was not saved and that was irritating. I'm hoping it was a fluke but will have to take it down a star if it happens again.
  • (2018-10-10) Owl & Twine Cottage Core Lifestyle Shop: My only issue is adding images to text and lack of export options. Way prettier and easier than scrivner which I still want to love but the syncing issues make me frightened to write. Ill updat as I go but so far I'm impressed.
  • (2018-05-21) Susan Langer: It has a very basic word processor. One like a first or 2nd grade level.
  • (2018-03-01) Morgan Chambers: Pay scam!
  • (2017-12-25) Alanah Wilkinson: u have to pay for things it is a waste of money
  • (2017-12-03) June Bell: The best program
  • (2017-05-23) Anthony Allen Alexander Weise: This is one very exceptional piece of software that I will most definitely use to write my upcoming book. Then later have it published too! Plus, it's reasonably priced too as well. Especially by the month or just annually. Thank you very much for this well put together book writing manuscript software app here on Google Chrome Web Store right now!
  • (2016-08-11) Adrienne Adams: not free. its five dollars a month. pass
  • (2016-07-23) Laura Whitaker: Wonderful cloud based novel writing app. Very intuitive and easy to use.
  • (2016-06-06) Chris Richards: I want to love this app, but it has a few huge holes in it, the most notible one is that I can't export the work done in the notebook section. I know dev is probably working on this but exporting my rough work and notes is almost as important is being to export my actual chapters. It also makes it difficult to commit to a workflow when there is such a huge hole in it (i.e. my notes) Good start, I hope this feature is coming soon, and am a little surprised it wasn't built in on release.
  • (2016-05-20) Jim Murray: Add the app to Chromebook, create an account, sign up for free trial, then it states MUST PAY to use on the Chromebook. APP BAIT - junk
  • (2016-03-12) Ernest J Simon II: Great site get this app and start writing!
  • (2016-02-16) Ray Mroz: As another reviewer has mentioned, it certainly does have potential and I can see this becoming a very rich application should the developer wish to continue to flesh out and grow his/her idea. As a long time professional software developer myself, I will give my own personal recommendations at improving this application - of course, these are just the product of one man's opinion. :) Also, let me begin with a pat on the back for getting your vision up and off the ground and publishing it here in the Chrome Store. I am well aware of the work that goes into germinating an idea and seeing it through to the stage where you have a working product out in the wild. Congrats! The first move I would make would be to develop an offline build and to give it a first-class, operating system level application feel. The next move I would make would be to expose more fine-grained, configuration controls over manuscript layout to the end user, perhaps as an advanced options/settings tab or some such, with a collection of sane defaults under the basic settings controls. For instance, most publishers request a word count on the title page in the upper right corner, opposite the authors address in the left corner. Of course, different publishers may have different requirements (headers, footers, etc) and the capability to change these quickly in order to produce a compliant manuscript targets would certainly be nice. Maybe even a tweak-able manuscript schema in JSON or some such in order to provide for much more fine grained control for more advanced users. :) The key thing to remember here is that you do not want to have any hard limitations present in your manuscript configuration as these could conceivably shut you out from entire potential segments of your market just because of some simple limitation(s) in your end product as a result of unforeseen requirements or constraints on their end. I think from there my next step would be to develop a few more features in the text editor mode, such as the addition of font control widgets and text style/layout controls. I think that making the scene the basic, atomic structural unit was the right way to go. If you go the offline mode route, you could structure your entire file system layout around this idea, with the each scene as a separate document with directories for chapters and so on. Of course, having the ability to quickly and easily move scenes around and hence, change the overall structure of the novel is a must. Adhere to standards where applicable (LSB/FHS for example) and make certain to completely separate your app code from the underlying operating system specific file system stuff with something like an abstract factory pattern. To bring it all together, I don't think that you want to go too far overboard with feature creep/bloat, because then you get into the realm of trying to compete with a Scrivener or some such, but I think that without doing too much extra work, you can produce a nice, light-weight and configurable app which can generate excellent, configurable manuscript targets to meet a wide variety of needs and demands. I think that the key design philosophy to keep in mind for such an application is to remember that its all about the product which comes out of the back end, which is to say the manuscript which is produced, so in essence you want to achieve an application which allows the end user to produce said manuscript in a relatively easy and painless fashion. As such, I think that developing a nice little editor with some very configurable design/layout controls, all centred around the scene as being the basic, atomic unit of novel structure, is the way to go and top all of that off with exposing the capability to fine tune your final product, namely the novel manuscript, to the end user. Cheers for the app and best of luck with its success!
  • (2015-10-31) Favio Becker: It's ok, has lots of potential, but unfortunately no offline support, which would be fantastic. If I could use the app in chrome offline, I'd be sold for a membership straight away.
  • (2015-10-23) Dale Wheatley: This model of having me create an account to write and then to have the audacity to charge a subscription. Maybe make a more general text editor that novelists and screenwriters and journalists can use so you can sell it for a fair price outright to wider market. I saw all the red flags but thought I would try it anyway--nope, I need to sign in to do that. Take care.
  • (2015-09-29) Kristen Kieffer: Novelize allows you to write and organize multiple novel projects (including individual scenes, chapters, character bios, settings, and other notes) in one clean interface. You can also set and track word count goals, which is incredibly helpful for keeping to your writing routine and deadlines! I highly recommend this app to anyone searching for a program more tailored to novel-writing than Microsoft Word or Google Docs but less complicated than Scrivener. Fantastic resource for writers!
  • (2015-09-29) Tom Farr: Novelize is one of the best tools for a novelist who wants to write without distraction and get their novel finished.
