- (2019-10-24) John Martin: Just some garbage that says I can't create an account because I haven't created an account and then when I create an account (which you have to do on some other site) I go back and try to login only to be told I don't have an account again. Ya ok then. bye bye garbage.

- (2016-06-27) zhan ishzhanov: Whats the point of this "addon" if not maybe actually making the freaking IDE client side (as in not like editing wikipedia). I suspect it were a firefox problem; goodbye my browsing environment. This "app" leads to docker based service rather than "improved" beta.

- (2015-11-13) Patrick Kelly: I have used many great IDE's including Cloud9, VIM, Aptana, Pycharm and they are all great with certain strengths and weaknesses to each. One thing none of them can offer is a cloud based solution. Codenevy is that solution and it doesn't sacrifice anything along the way. The GUI is great, Github connectivity works perfectly and you can test and debug as well. I cant tell you the freedom I am feeling being able to take my chromebook and work wherever the heck I want. Get it!!!
- (2015-09-03) Rachel Phillips: it's nagware, forces to login to use
- (2015-07-21) Dad: AMAZING absolutely wonderful for my coding, I would really like some sort of offline function built in...
- (2015-07-01) Alhex_Bitcrypt: Excellent, I can write my programs at home and can continue while at work. Visually is perfect, you can work on for long hours without end with eyes tired. It would be great if an auto-complete is added in the future. Great idea code envy.
- (2015-06-18) Alessandra xx: It took me awhile to get used to Chromebook...and a longer time to find a good IDE .. But alas, I found Codenvy. It is easy to use, onlineIDE,looks amazing, well organized and it works well. I would recommend this to my fellow chromebook users looking for a great IDE.
- (2015-06-06) Coding Puppy: After trying out couple of other cloud IDEs, I decided to use Codenvy. It's very easy to use (even if you are new to cloud IDEs like I was) and supports most of the well known languages which makes it very easy to get up and running without having to configure everything from the ground up. Totally worth at least a try.
- (2015-06-03) Damian Wydro: Very helpfull web IDE. It helps save time if is it necessery to make quick change in code, works on mobile dev. I recomend it to anyone!
- (2015-05-29) Andrew Clancy: P.S. We'll ship you a Codenvy t-shirt for an honest and detailed online review - both pros and cons - at the Chrome Web Store or GetApp. Plus, if you "like" Codenvy on AlternativeTo (click the heart at the top right of the page) we'll throw in a couple Codenvy stickers! Just reply with where you left your review and if you liked, your t-shirt size and shipping address. :)
- (2015-05-29) Matthew Kaufer: Codenvy makes developing in Chrome way easier. Great web IDE. It's so intuitive, and easy to use. Definitely check it out.
- (2015-05-29) Claudio Fontana: The most complete platform for develop and test app in a web sandbox. For me is the best alternative to desktop develop. Very good!
- (2015-05-29) Kodewulf: Not much to say about Codenvy other than it's one of the best online IDEs available. It's fast, feature rich and most importantly actively being updated and enhanced.
- (2015-05-28) Noah Cha: I needed a free IDE that I could use to develop with. I needed something easy to use, and this was definitely the right choice. The fact that it is online is so convenient when it comes to sharing, but I wish there was some way you could colaborate offline. Excelent for Python because of how fast it is.
- (2015-05-28) Marcos Ortiz: This was a wonderful application to run into. It allows you to run your favorite programming languages on your own browser. This is substantially better than it being on your computer because you are able to take it anywhere without your heavy equipment. The thing that I don't like very much is the learning curve and appearance of the app. It looks too obtrusive and it is hard to navigate through it. Great solution for heavy programmers.
- (2015-05-28) Garry “Garry” G: I have tried other web ide and when i saw this, I stick to it when it comes to my Python google app engine projects. Not really good when I tried it for my PHP favorite frameworks. It's really handy because i do not need to always bring my laptop everywhere because I can just any PC and login using my github account. Community wise, I had a great help because people are answering. At first I was frustrated with the upgrade to new version but when I saw the hello world apps, I became happy using it again.
- (2015-05-28) Rodrigo Machado: Useful for kick editions out of the work environment. Very recommended for academic use. Easy to use and very intuitive. Saved me sometimes :)
- (2015-05-28) Jake sawyer: This is one of the better cloud IDE's I have had the chance to use. I have limited experience with it only using it in personal projects because I didn't want to download a whole set of utilities just to write a couple lines. I look forward to using this more in the future and the list of features gets me excited about exploring it more.
- (2015-05-28) Mike Levine: much of my job starts with an SSH session into a webserver and then running emacs. No longer with CodeEnvy! With CodeEnvy i can perform routine maintenance or develop complex features. all from a simple web interface. LOVE!
- (2015-05-28) Lynn Mueller: This is a similar developing environment to Cloud9 and Codio, but the advantage is that because it's an application that can be added to Chrome, it's especially handy when you're working off a Chromebook- since you physically don't have to type the web address to get to your developer environment. It IS more powerful than Cloud9 and is more capable of things in general, such as language availability. I would compare its functionality to be similar to Codio, but it's a bit more visually appealing.
- (2015-05-28) Kaustubh Joshi: Awesome IDE which is now faster than ever. Pros -Docker Support -Google App Engine Direct Deployment -Git hub support -no cumbersome setups -easy for colloaboration Cons -limitations on free usage -debug options limited -no android tablet app
- (2015-05-27) Derk Horlacher: Codenvy is my go to online IDE. It's professional, intuitive, and has pretty much everything I need to get the job done. I also really like the GUI.
- (2015-05-27) Ethan Henderson: Very easy, fast, and much more reliable than other online IDEs.
- (2015-05-27) Eric Muir: Nice on the go coding environment, which is free and very easy to use. If that is all your looking for this is for you, possibly the best out there, or at least that I have found; but if your wanting a fully fledged development environment on the go, you won't find that here or anywhere. This is the best I've found and am having to live with when developing on the go.
- (2015-05-27) Daniel Standage: I'll soon be replacing my Macbook Pro with a Chromebook or maybe even an iPad, so I've been trying out different cloud development platforms for a few months. Codenvy definitely has the best interface I've seen so far, and the environment looks infinitely configurable with Docker support. Videos and screenshots advertise an interactive terminal, which is a huge part of my development workflow. I spend a few minutes writing code, then go to the command line to run unit tests, then commit to git if things look good, and then repeat. After spending an entire afternoon I was unable to get an interactive terminal working. I was finally able to configure a "runner" to run my unit tests for me, but the overhead of launching the runner (15-30 seconds) really throws a wrench in my workflow. I don't know how much of this is a limitation of their system versus my own limited understanding of how their system works. The documentation could definitely use some streamlining and improvement, in which case I may more easily be able to find an answer to my question! Assuming I can resolve this issue, I will have no problem moving completely to a Chromebook or iPad for my development!
- (2015-05-27) Rafa S: Great tool. Same IDE for several programming languages. Without installation or maintenance problems. It works very well
- (2015-05-26) Finally found a program to code on my chromebook for school, and best part is it is all on the cloud, so it syncs with my desktop pc and macbook. So far it meets all my needs but, I am a novice when it comes to coding.
- (2015-05-26) Brian Lin: This is a free IDE? Really? I've used Cloud9, Eclipse, and some other IDE's, but this one is seriously impressive. Seriously. The interface is very simple and professional, and is able to build a plethora of languages. The GitHub support is like a cherry on top. +1+1+1
- (2015-05-26) NIKHIL AGARWAL: Hi, I used codeenvy to use sqlalchemy with python. Since there's no stable linux environment for that, I used browser based codenvy app which made it easier to build the project. Also, the webinar last wednesday was amazing with different environment usages showcased.
- (2015-05-26) Great for small, personal projects; but it's not really production-ready for enterprise-grade apps. Dynamic and beautiful, but lacks some keyboard shortcuts, languages and customization details.
- (2015-05-26) Sean Hoar: The most reliable of cloud IDEs I've seen so far. c9.io and nitrous.io have a slow dashboard; Codenvy launches the instance fast, and right into the IDE. I just which it looked better on my chromebook 1300x768 - but not many IDEs look good at that resolution... all in all a good pick, works well with digital ocean, bitbucket, github, etc.
- (2015-05-26) Brian Moyer: I picked up a chromebook so I could break away from my desktop. My initial plans were to develop using linux; however, I kind of like the simplicity of chrome. As a result, I have been test driving the IDEs available and Codenvy is simply great. The projects screen is easy to use. The interface resembles my go-to editor, ST, so I feel right at home. Finally, codenvy is quick. I am looking forward to using codenvy for my next project later this week - I will be sure to add to my review as I log more hours with the app.
- (2015-05-26) Jayson Brown: Everything I was looking for when I made the switch to Chrome OS. Still fiddling around with things, and hopefully offline mode will be available soon!
- (2015-05-23) Mark Lee Lamont: Codenvys states its overall goals are eliminating tricky configurations so that we the developers get to spend more time coding. On first signing up to Codeenvy and then using it for a bit (nothing critical at first) It appeared to me to be relatively fast, incredibly flexible and I found getting around within it was super easy to learn. If you find yourself working with server-side apps compiled using Java, Spring, Python, Ruby, or PHPget.I just received an email telling me that they are going to be doubling everyone's free monthly gigabyte hours so from submitting this review you can now get 20 free gigabyte hours of build and run time every month along with unlimited free IDE time, projects, storage and developers. It nicely duplicates the classic IDE layouts with a file tree on one side and the editing window on the other. Codenvy felt like I was using my local IDE instead of in a HTML5-compatible browser ,plus the super nice debugging features,Source control via Git,GitHub,BitBucket and access to your favourite key bindings from vi, emacs and sublime makes Codenvy feel even more like your working on your PC rather than working in a friendly Cloud IDE/browser. I know the use of modern web development programs that largely reside on remote servers still makes quite a few coders & management nervous, however, there’s little reason to be afraid of the Cloud any more. With the adoption of several simple security precautions and an open mindset most web devs/programmers can reap the rewards of developer workspaces you can modify, run and debug in the cloud or on-premises/locally. Codenvys incredibly rich code development environment integrates seamlessly with deep connections to a number of the major hosting platforms like Amazon's Elastic Beanstalk,AppFog,CloudFoundry,Google App Engine,Heroku and OpenShift. There are around a half-dozen options available, and they hi-light themselves depending upon which type of application you want to create, the Amazon dialogue for instance lets you manage your instances and data stored in Amazon S3 buckets and having custom tools for several major cloud providers also makes configuration that much easier.New projects can be injected into Docker machines that you can then define with any stack while commanding an army of micro-services to execute those tasks at scale via the recently upgraded CDE which offers three types of Java projects (library, WAR, and Spring) and the classic dynamic languages such as Ruby, Python, and PHP and just some of the supported languages & frameworks I have had a play with were Java (web & console apps),javascript,Angular.js,C++,MongoDB ,Ruby on Rails,Node.js and some HMTL/CSS although theirs even more I haven't even touched on yet.
- (2015-05-21) John Doe: Overall, this was a good product. It's fast, and easy to use. Pros: -User friendly -fast -works well for most languages Cons: -Wouldn't run my Python application. Other than that, it was great!
- (2015-05-21) Jayram Singh: Codenvy is one of the best IDSs I have ever used. It doesn't have any hassle of downloading an configuring. Pros: Git support, lightweight, use it from any system anywhere as it all is in cloud, simple UI Cons: Debugging is a bit slow, IE integration not there +1 recommending it.
