Mosh (mobile shell) for Chrome

Description from store
Install Mosh on your remote server (http://mosh.mit.edu) to use this app. Mosh for Chrome is especially useful for Chrome OS users.
Mosh provides a remote terminal session similar to ssh, but is tolerant of network issues such as latency, disconnections, and moving from one network to another. You can leave Mosh running all the time, even while your laptop is in standby, and expect your session to persist.
See the upstream Mosh project at http://mosh.mit.edu for more details.

- (2023-10-13) Bobbie Simpson: I love mosh on linux. I was very excited to find this extension but sadly it does not work. I can not even launch it there is no way to attempt a connection whatsoever.
- (2023-06-06) Chris Ross: This doesn't work any more. "Old versions of Chrome apps won't open on Windows devices after December 2022." Is there an update?
- (2023-01-01) nick name: works very well on a chromebook, thank you very much. i would like to have it integrated with hterm, the linux/ssh terminal.
- (2022-11-18) Альховик Дмитрий: Super! :)
- (2022-10-05) Lars Wattsgard: Brilliantly stable on horrible connections as well as stable connections. Now Chrome complains that it won't launch old apps after December 2022, is there anyone planning to release an updated package? Would be awesome! :)
- (2020-04-13) Damian vdm: Finally, a robust alternative to ssh that can handle a diverse range of connection types with ease. This is one of my favorite pieces of software. Keep up the good work
- (2019-09-29) Ex Atiqur Rahman: Never able to connect to my ssh-server where my macbook mosh works perfectly fine. Entering passphrases won't work and enter password seems useless always would fail. It would not be able to connect to the mosh-server port. Port 22 is the only one it would connect but authentication always fails!
- (2019-08-07) Mace Moneta: Works well. Not quite as good as the Linux (Crostini) mosh, but uses much less resource than bringing up Crostini. This version seems to occasionally have problems with the cursor positioning, but a 'reset' in the session corrects it.
- (2019-06-03) Laurent Boulard: Non obvious setup and never worked. Just a black window.
- (2018-08-15) Jason (jxyzn): Works well enough, though lacks support for 24-bit color.
- (2018-08-12) Okiki Ojo: It won't connect to the ssh server I setup for my android phone. It says: `Bad response when running mosh-server: 'sh: mosh-server`.
- (2018-07-14) Ken Tobias: Can't connect to SSH servers with a more secure cipher set. (e.g. Fedora/RedHat with security level set to "FUTURE". The standard Chrome/ChromeOS SSH tool has no issues.
- (2018-04-20) evandrix none: can't do ssh reverse tunnel :/
- (2018-03-25) Callum Chis: Best SSH client to ever exist. First thing I setup when I work on a VPS etc
- (2017-10-01) Arun Das (ADTC Rulez): For a bare-bones terminal app, this solves the BIGGEST PAIN POINT of SSH - dropping connections at the slightest disturbance of THE FORCE (aka Internet). I was extremely surprised to see how I could continue with my shell session even after I disconnected and reconnected to the Internet. THAT NEVER HAPPENS ON SSH. So a big THANK YOU from me.
- (2017-08-26) 刘光添: It work,Awesome,like it,thanks.
- (2017-04-19) Lancelot Xavier: Full screen would be very nice.
- (2017-03-30) Michael Slavitch: Really good when, on OS's like Windows, you don't have easy access to a proper terminal app.
- (2017-02-22) Kalle Kareinen: First of all: I love it. It really makes your life easier whether you were configuring your VPS or just using IRC. However, since you are still developing this I hope that you include somekind of profile management. Would be lovely if I could just click VPS and connect to my VPS after I've connected to my shell server and the other way around. Keep up the good work and I hope I'll see the profile management here some day!
- (2017-01-28) So very fast compared with ssh. It's bare bones, but when connecting to a VM using my phone as a hotspot, my ssh client is both slow and drops the connections throughout the day. With mosh I'm simply always connected and it feels like I'm typing on a local command prompt.
- (2017-01-14) todd freed: I would like to be able to make a fullscreen window on Windows (no menu/title bar), also different backgrounds and terminal color palette
- (2016-07-28) Sam Clark: There's a couple quirks, but for the product this is the best utility on the market.
- (2016-06-29) Sean C: It works great. I work almost exclusively in the terminal (vim + tmux) on a Chromebook, and I often have to roam and use sub-optimal Internet connections. Using SSH over high-latency Internet is unbearable but it's a non-issue with Mosh. It works just as well on ChromeOS as on other platforms thanks to this app.
- (2016-06-27) Carl Xiong: Hope there is session management. o/w works great.
- (2016-03-17) Vince Hsu: The best I can find for ChromeOS
- (2016-03-16) Andrew Cagney: Interface needs work. If nothing else use "MOSH" and not "SSH" as the only protocol supported is MOSH and that requires a mosh server. Also: - needs ssh-agent forwarding
- (2016-03-06) Nick May: This thing is awesome. Love having the ability to use mosh on Windows.
- (2015-12-12) Alex Bennée: Could do with a slightly nicer key/session management UI but otherwise works really well.
- (2015-09-16) IC Rainbow: Truly a life-saving app for chromebook devs.
- (2015-08-09) Ryan Boe: Bare bones but works great. Feels very responsive and provides a nice color display. A wonderful addition to the Chrome platform. Just be aware there are little in the way of customization options. Btw, it is possible to copy text from the terminal by highlighting text with cursor.
- (2015-08-07) Works great for connecting to a Mosh server. It's very responsive and "feels" quicker than the SSH client I have been using. I would like to see a way to store an address book.
- (2015-05-18) Moto Rider: Great to have the best remote-access app on my fav portable device.
- (2015-05-16) i got a know bug error and can not log in
- (2015-05-03) Mira “Siikakala” Ojamo: Easy way to get mosh on windows. Found out that you can change font size with ctrl- -/+ when connected and that resizes window also so I can have my usual window size. And the font is really readable in small sizes! Big plus. But as others have said, favorites and more preferences would be nice.
- (2015-02-19) Conrad Heiney: Lifesaver. Thank you so much.
- (2015-02-03) Kevin: It's nice. It lacks a lot of features though: like keeping a list of 'favorites', overriding colors, overriding the fonts, just needs more preferences.
- (2015-01-20) Carl Factora: I use mosh on all compatible ssh-connections. Great to see that it's now available on Chrome OS. Makes rebinding browser keys a thing of the past.
- (2015-01-11) Tyler Hallada: Makes ChromeOS awesome for programming. Chromebook + server + this app > overpriced Mac. Once mosh supports mouse input this will be perfect. This could also use a menu for editing preferences like font, font size, etc.
- (2014-11-27) So much better than good old SSH
- (2014-11-21) Philip Papadopoulos: I had to hunt around to figure out how to paste using Mosh in chrome under windows.. It's ctrl-shift-v. My only real complaint is the lack of scrollback in the terminal, but developers seem to be addressing that issue. I've been using this for about a week where I moved from hotel, to conference, to phone hotspot, to in-air wireless. Never skipped a beat. A great productivity enhancement to not have re-construct a connection to my server. This is very highly recommended!
- (2014-10-04) Kyle Cordes: Mosh is a fantastically useful tool, and this Chromebook implementation, while not yet complete yet, fills an important need. There are a few issues: No list of favorites, no way to script it, so you must manually fill in several fields every time you log in. The window edges are rather subtle, this becomes a problem if you have several Mosh windows overlapping on the screen. It seems to use some CPU (which irritatingly tallies under "Browser" rather than under its own task manager entry on a Chromebook) even when idle.
- (2014-09-06) Samuel Li (Sam): This awesome app is especially useful when you're at an unstable network, like Starbucks :)
- (2014-09-01) Stefan Penner: fantastic! Only thing I would love is control over the font and font sizes
- (2014-08-15) Zoey Greer: I use it with tmux, feels like home.
- (2014-08-04) Thomas Piart: Nice, but fonts should be improved :)
- (2014-08-03) Владимир Петров: To be honest I'm from Ukraine! But I quite like this program!
- (2014-08-01) Kevin Thom: It's the only way I know of to easily get a Mosh client onto a Windows machine. It works quite well, but I'd just like to have the ability to scroll back to see what's moved off the screen (useful in tail -f situations).
- (2014-08-01) Phil Tuckey: love it saved so much time finding this app, works great!
- (2014-06-29) Chris Myzie: Perfect!
