- (2016-01-25) Dave Hurka: Ignore the other ratings. If you aren't intelligent enough to figure out a simple game do not blame the creators. This app deserves 5 stars. Google "n-back" if you do not know how to play.
- (2015-11-17) Rina K: Ummm clearer instructions please
- (2015-09-17) Susan Cochrane: Ok, yes, I can see how someone might say that it's difficult figuring out how to play this game at first, given the lack of instructions. Sort of like a mini IQ test going in! (lol) But I love the workout that it gives my head so much, I gave it five stars in spite of that issue. I think the reason that I figured it out pretty quickly is because I've played similar games on Lumonosity where they give good instuctions and then let you do a little practice game. But hang in there because if you take a few minutes learning how to play this game, it's really challanging and so not boring. And unlike using brain building websites where you have to pay, it's free! There are ways to raise the challange on the first row of choices (how many "back" you choose, how many turns, the size of grid) and different (I'll call them) "variants" on the second row of choices (Choose off or on for: audio, color and/or sum). The challange to your concentration really goes up if you choose more than one of those variants to do at the same time. Start off easy until you can figure it out, by clicking at the bottom until you are only doing one thing at the easiest level. (Choosing "2 back, 10 turns, grid of 1," means you only have to remember what was two turns back, on only one position on the matrix, and you'll get 10 turns.) Then choose only one variant to do on the bottom row of choices. (Ie: Only color-on.) Now when you play, you click yes if the color is the same as it was 2 turns ago, no if it isn't. If you use a higher matrix inaddition to color, you'll have to remember if the color is the same as it was 2 turns ago AND was it in the same position on the matrix as it was 2 turns ago, so you'll have 2 yes or no decisions. Once you have all that figured out, it's easy! I haven't even tried to see what turning the audio does, but I have already added my own variant to the game and that is to use 2 hands in stead of one. One hand for moving the pointer and the other for clicking. That, I think, will cut my time in half down the road, but right now it's challanging me to the point that I'm SURE that I'm getting more smarterer!
- (2015-05-07) By that logic I must also be stupid. As other reviewer totally non-intuitive. Instructions are not helpful.
- (2015-04-15) Al Roulexe: I must be the stupidest person on earth, because the very first game I just cannot work out what the hell is going on. Utterly bizarre and totally non-intuitive.
