Description from store The Complete 1:1 Learning Platform. EdTech apps built around teachers. Spiral is a suite of free EdTech apps for teachers that make 1:1 classrooms more collaborative. Each app, designed by education professionals, is designed to mirror a specific classroom practice and can be used across all subjects and age ranges. Easy to learn and simple to use, Spiral makes lessons engaging, collaborative and fun. Quickfire enhances question and answer activities, enabling you to get the responses of the entire class in real-time. It requires no planning – just ask your question as normal and students can respond using their personal devices. Show anonymised answers on the whiteboard in different formats to really bring the class' learning to life. Discuss is a powerful tool for creativity, exploration and deeper learning, Discuss encourages students to share ideas with each other. The content created forms a useful shared knowledge base which can be accessed in the future for homework and exam revision. Team Up improves the process and outcomes of group work. Students work in teams during one or more lessons - contributing ideas and building shared presentations in the form of slide shows or posters. Teams can work from individual or shared devices to create high quality outcomes that everyone can learn from. Clip is the fastest and easiest way to introduce videos into your lesson plans. Teachers can simply find and play any video from Youtube and students can add comments in a live feed. In addition, you can add questions or multiple-choice quizzes, review on the whiteboard and save the results. Spiral's EdTech apps were co-designed with the world's #1 educational institution We are working in partnership with UCL’s Institute of Education to ensure pedagogy is at the heart of our development process. The team at the IOE support our design workshops with teachers and students across the UK. Their research and literature review help us create apps that enhance collaboration, facilitate formative assessment and embed technology seamlessly into classroom practice.

  • (2017-02-22) Bob Read: This looks to be a very promising set of apps. I have yet to fully pilot them in classes but they appear to be very well conceived and reflect good practice in interactive teaching - well worth exploring! Congratulations to the development team!
  • (2015-07-22) farrah224224: I am teaching Geography in Hong Kong. My school requires us to use ipad in classroom. I used to have lots of problems in getting my students to answer to my question. They totally ignore everything I asked and said. I felt quite embarrassing. I don't know if it is because I am a new teacher or I am too young. Usually I got no reply after asking questions. Then I started using this apps (I saw it in another forum). Students start replying my questions. They are just too shy to say so. Because those comments students made will be shown in my ipad but anonymously in the whiteboard. I am really happy that my students are more responsive because they are the first group of students I have. If you also have trouble getting your students to answer, you can take a look at it. Hope that you can have a better relationship with students as well as I do!
