Transform your Google Calendar task management with Duration for Google Tasks, the essential Chrome extension that adds time duration to Google Tasks. Streamline your productivity workflow by adding start and end times to tasks, creating visual time blocks that make schedule planning effortless and intuitive.
🔑 Core Features 🔑
⭐️Time Duration Management: Add precise start and end times to Google Tasks directly in Google Calendar. Watch as your tasks automatically resize to show their actual duration, providing clear visual time allocation across your schedule
⭐️Right-Click Task Creation: Capture tasks instantly from any webpage using the right-click context menu. Perfect for saving articles, research links, and ideas without interrupting your browsing workflow - ideal for productivity-focused professionals.
⭐️Custom Priority Levels: Organize tasks with personalized priority systems featuring custom names and colors. Visually identify urgent tasks at a glance and maintain consistent task importance across your calendar.
⭐️Task Templates: Create reusable task templates with pre-defined durations and descriptions. Streamline repetitive task creation for common workflows like meetings, project work, and daily routines.
⭐️Dynamic Visual Adjustment: Task blocks automatically resize based on specified duration, eliminating calendar clutter while maintaining accurate time representation in your Google Tasks list.
⚙️ How It Works ⚙️
Method 1 - Calendar Creation: When creating new tasks in Google Calendar view, use the built-in time picker to set start and end times. The extension automatically calculates and displays the appropriate duration.
Method 2 - Title Duration: Add duration directly to task titles using parentheses format (e.g., "Team Meeting(1h)" or "Project Review(2.5h)"). The extension parses this information and adjusts the visual display accordingly.
Method 3 - Right-Click Menu: Create tasks via the right-menu by Right Clicking on any webpage, and selecting "Add to Tasks". You can then provide all the necessary information, and a task will be created in the linked Google Account, and in the list of your choice.

- (2025-09-03) Amina Khatun Mim: The functionality seems really nice. Its just I can't install it at all. - Your browser & operating system? -> Chrome, Ubuntu 20 - Can you describe what actions you took when trying to use the application? -> I tried to connect it to Google tasks. It tells me : This app is blocked. This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access. -In case you are willing to try again, please try adding a duration to the end of the task title. For example -> Write Product Requirements Document (1h)-> Not working either
- (2025-09-02) Abel Osorio: This is a game changer. I've been only using the free version and it's more than enough. I wish Google buys this from you guys and make it a native feature ;)
- (2025-08-27) Luke Smoljak: Doesn't work. Could never try the functionality as connecting failed on both Chrome and Brave. On Chrome when connecting to my account I get the following error during the authentication flow after giving access: This app is blocked This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access. On Brave browser, which is based on Chrome the connect button doesn't do anything. Immediately after try this I ended up with a virus installing other extensions. Very odd timing and generally concerning.
- (2025-08-08) Evan Marsh: I had really high hopes for this product, but it falls short right now. I still have hopes for it in the future. The idea of being able to change the duration and priority of tasks in Google Calendar is exactly what I am looking for in my productivity process. My biggest disappointment is that tasks that originate on Google Tasks and are added to Google Calendar are not included in this extension. Still set at the default 15minutes, and we are unable to edit with the same menu of tasks naturally created on Google Calendar with this extension. I almost always add tasks on my Google task app and organize them later on my calendar when time blocking. Increasing the extension to Google tasks would be a game-changer for this product. Secondly, for free users, I wish there were a way to hide or grey out the priority and templates buttons if we are not paying for them. Ideally, the priorities would be included in a free feature, but that is not a deal breaker. Having these basically useless bubbles for free users is unintuitive and visually distracting. Feel free to reach back out if you would like greater detailed feedback. I hope this product can grow into something amazing!
- (2025-03-19) Andres Arosemena: Great extension! I would love to be able to change the duration with handles on the calendar, being able to expand and contract it like we can do with events.
- (2025-02-07) Laura: Works great, 5 stars if all day events would not be extended based on size in brackets. That support replan & would allow a "parking spot" until the exact time to action on it is finalized
- (2025-01-07) Audric Serador: this is awesome. i would love to contribute to this, feel free to send me a dm on twitter (@audricciel)
- (2024-12-12) Felix M. Barth: Great! But: The text of a task is correctly oriented at the top of each task – within the houres. Pretty correct. But if you define a task as "all day" (ganztags). (Maybe you know, what day to do something, but not, in which hour.) The task is correctly shown in the top, gets its needed height (One could overthink this, at the all-day-top!), but the text is oriented centered (not top). Thus the text is hidden behind the next all-day-calendar-entry, as the other entries just do not know about other entries bigger height, obviously. I don't know, why the text is oriented centered. Can you change it, to being oriented at the top, like it is at tasks down in the hours? (Or you define, that a all-day-task keeps the normal height like all other normal all-day-entries have.) Second thought: This does not help at the android calendar app, of course, as this is a chrome extension ... :-)
- (2024-11-06) Hasanboy Karimjonov: working, I am using it on opera browser but it is working without bugs. you need to write it like this: work-out (30m)
- (2024-10-11) Gabriel Sarateanu: It actually works! Thank you ;)
- (2024-10-05) Sonji Slade: Exactly what I was looking for, thanks! Super easy and very helpful. *Note to Others: After installing the extension, you might need to refresh/reload your calendar. I was adding the time duration at the end (e.g." Send Follow-Up Email (15m) ") but the task size wouldn't adjust. I exited Google Calendar and reopened it and ta da! That original task resized and now when I create more tasks they resize as soon as I save them.
- (2024-10-04) Jordan Hooftman: Great!!!!! it really helped me a lot with planning out my meetings and tasks <3
- (2024-09-12) Dominic Devine: Tried it several times and it won't work. A shame as it would be great if it did.
