A decentralized floating comment extension for YouTube. Comments are stored on servers you specify, not on a central server.
Danmakustr is a tool that allows users to leave comments on online videos (currently supporting YouTube). These comments, known as danmaku (だんまく; 弹幕; literally translated as "bullet curtain" and figuratively as "barrage") are synchronized with the video timeline and float over the video, similar to subtitles. You'll see thoughts from others watching the same video segment, often finding many who share your perspectives. It's a fascinating viewing experience.
Features:
* 🌐 Decentralized: Based on the distributed social network protocol Nostr. Your comments can be displayed not only in this plugin but also in other software using the same protocol.
* 🚫 Maintenance-independent: Even if the plugin is no longer maintained in the future, it will continue to function as long as the Nostr network exists. This avoids issues like those faced by dmooji (a once-popular YouTube comment plugin that became unusable due to lack of maintenance).
* 🛡️ Censorship-resistant: No censorship system ensures freedom of speech. You can use your own Nostr relay to store and spread your comments, countering censorship.
Due to the current low user count, I've created a simple page (https://danmaku.nostr-relay.app/) to display recent comments.
