Description from store
Offline Wiktionary for Chrome 9 and above.
Uses HTML5 <progress> element, includes JS implementation of LZMA compression engine, WIkiText parser, Files, FileReader, Blobs, FileWriter, WebWorkers, Typed Arrays, header/footer html tags, uses HTML5 FileSystem API, xkcd comic #214, levenschtein difference, a search engine that incorporates over 4 consumer signals, binary XHR, and lots of cool stuff. Definitions and suggestions appear instantly as you're typing. And please give me a Cr48.
I'm also aware that I probably broke the no-perspectives rule on the icon, but the web store icon also has a perspective, so I doubt it's a huge issue. And whatever you do, do not open the web inspector, because it has memory leaks with successive file reads that happens a lot with its binary search algorithm. Not opening web inspector is fine.
This is basically a pre-release of js-wikireader which is pretty much the same thing except that js-wikireader handles multiple several-gigabyte wikipedia dumps. I'm pretty certain it works pretty well already, but I haven't figured out how to get hosting and downloading (probably payment too) to work for those dumps. But anyway, the code for that (and most of this) can be found at https://github.com/antimatter15/js-wikireader

- (2016-05-04) Valentin Nikolaenko: What is this???
- (2016-03-15) 右川: this is really good. It's not confusing, so what is wrong with the people who say that it's bad??? People say that it needs fixing, but there's got to be something with their computer, because mine's working fine.
- (2016-01-25) MightyStar Jin: very good

- (2015-10-02) Vo Van Khoa: I don't know how to use it. Can anyone help me?
- (2015-08-18) Luke Keppler: If you care about derivations, keep looking. Offline Dictionary neglects the "Etymology" section from Wiktionary (i.e., the best part), removing the definitions of the words from which your word was derived. It shows the base words, but removes the definitions. The section becomes useless because these base words are almost always in another language. This makes the app fairly worthless to me since I try to know the etymology along with the definition of words.
- (2015-08-09) Erica C: Didn't work.
- (2015-06-15) Ruben Ablog: Needs more info. Android version is way better than this.
- (2015-03-10) Dheeraj Reddy Mallapu: does not show any meaning
- (2015-03-07) Karina Heinold: Didn't work well. If I typed in a word, it would only tell me the definition of what it suggested, not what I typed in.
- (2015-02-25) Myla C: I have found this little app QUITE useful! Other than one REALLY annoying glitch, it is quite nice. Simple, has a wide range of words and wordforms. The only vociferous objection I have is that when I start typing it starts bringing up possible matches...very handy. HOWEVER if I try to click on one, it erases what I typed & resets the page to the blank homescreen! WTH is up with that?!
- (2015-02-01) Pradeep Dwivedi: its really nice !!!!
- (2015-01-12) J.K. Lin: It does not work for me.
- (2015-01-05) Laurie Shanin: Does not work at all. Useless on asus chromebox
- (2014-11-20) Elissa Steele: This is the worst dictionary app ever. When I typed in ignition it went to igloo. I tried again and again then it froze.
- (2014-11-12) While this comes in handy most of the time, it is definitely buggy and I can't look up any "A" words, at all. It doesn't take long to load, but there are so many dead links to other words. Super easy to use, but why it hasn't been improved for so long is beyond me.
- (2014-09-18) Sven Steinert: In enlish not bad, but i would realy like to use it in german. Please add more languages!
- (2014-09-09) ColinTNMP Productions: I don't see why people are saying it's bad! It's really fast, a lot of results, and has a debug in case anything goes wrong! and maybe even more! Sure it works better on the faster computer and not on the slower computers, but It works really good. And if it looks confusing, sorry, but you should really think before making your self seem like an idiot. search bar people! random button for random words! not hard!
- (2014-08-27) Isaiah Georges: Wouldn't even load! never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever download it. 100 "ever"s#havetooomuchtimeonmyhands
- (2014-08-24) Exactly what a student with a chromebook would need. Just needs more attention to the user interface and maybe more dictionaries to choose from.

- (2013-09-04) Heri Velo: it works very nice
- (2013-08-27) No good for a bio student. "Desmosome" is a word any decent dictionary would have.
- (2013-08-19) Daniel Barrett: Very useful--worked fine for me--not sure what anyone has to complain about. That said--I wish it had better synonym listing capabilities. Most entries don't list any. There's a need for an offline thesaurus for Chrome.
- (2013-07-23) Alexey Yakushev: it works well
- (2013-07-21) Hrishabh: it works very nice i don't know why other people say its bad
