• (2020-09-29) Gavin Burnett: I have been trying to find a chrome OS app that will play the music stored on my home dlna server, and at last I have found one. Needs a few minutes to set itself up on the first run, after that it found the server on my home LAN straight away and plays the music well. Great stuff.
• (2018-08-19) Steve Gravel: Tried a few DLNA clients and this was the only one that worked for me. Still getting familiar with it, but it looks like there is not a full screen option in the player.
• (2018-07-11) Michael Cowperthwaite: So far, the only app I've found for my Chromebook that can browse my local DLNA server. I only use for playing music. Problems: crashes hard every time a playlist ends (on ChromeOS 67, the only version I've run this on); no way to edit the playlist.

I originally installed Movian to play videos from the Syno's UPNP/DLNA media server, but I just found it has an extra ability... ...Movian can also play audio from the Logitech Media Server running on the same box. I was lamenting the lack of a Squeezebox player/controller for Chrome OS, but Movian can serve the same purpose (I think, because LMS also acts as a UPNP/DLNA server). Great work, Movian people! :-)
