Description from store IXL is a fun, immersive program that improves students' understanding and confidence in math, language arts, science, social studies, and Spanish. With over 7,000 interactive skills and an adaptive learning environment, IXL offers questions at the perfect level of difficulty and continues to challenge students as they grow. And with the combined power of learning tools like personalized recommendations, IXL Analytics, and IXL's Continuous Diagnostic, parents and teachers can drive progress, target trouble spots, and more! HIGHLIGHTS OF IXL - Comprehensive coverage of over 7,000 math, language arts, science, social studies, and Spanish skills
 - Wide variety of question types to engage and challenge students - IXL's Continuous Diagnostic, an up-to-the-minute portrait of every student's knowledge - Personalized skill recommendations based on student practice history - Engaging Spanish curriculum that prepares students for real-world interactions - Virtual prizes and awards to celebrate learning milestones
 - Used in the U.S. by 1 in 9 students and over 300,000 teachers TESTIMONIALS "Thanks to IXL, our students' performance has increased dramatically. Because they practice the skills daily, and because the site provides feedback, students are able to correct their mistakes and master the concepts easily." Waleska Batista, teacher, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, U.S.A. "My favourite feature of IXL is that if you get a question wrong IXL will tell you how to solve it and what you did wrong. Another thing I really enjoy is that IXL provides awards and progress reports showing how you do over time. I think these two things are very effective because they make the student feel like they are actually studying and not wasting time." Student, Calgary, Alberta, Canada "This program takes the frustration out of math because it allows the student to practice at his/her own pace and stay focused. It's okay if you mark one wrong because another one will be waiting. This is a great tool to have." Parent of a 4th grader, California, U.S.A. "We like the rewards and certificates; our children work very hard to receive these! The reports are also brilliant in keeping us informed of the levels our children have reached and where they need extra help." Parent, Coolah, NSW, Australia "My students are improving by the day, and some even stay in for recess to work on IXL!" Helm Jackson, 5th grade teacher, Redmond, Washington, U.S.A

  • (2022-03-24) Isabella Pinuellas: the L in IXL stands for LOSE i hate ixmid with every fiber of my being. <3
  • (2021-08-26) Gage Kelly: Well, it works fine for what it's for. Most of the negative reviews here seem to be a vain attempt at getting this app removed from the web store and/or to vent.
  • (2021-08-12) adeavil: this is the worst application to practice ANYTHING. The point system is shouldn't even be in a practice program. Your trying to teach kids how to learn, not to simply google the answers because of how broken the system is. IXl is not for older kids, older kids tend to focus on things that are fun and that's why their GPA score is a lot lower than younger kids GPA score. Get rid of the point system and give us an actual grade instead of forcing us to get a 100. When we practice, we are expected to get things wrong and that's okay. But, forcing us to get it right is just plain out wrong. IXl would be entertaining without the point system. Doing a summer packet on IXL is hell. Do better IXL -a 7th grade student.
  • (2021-05-14) Captain's Archive a: Fundamentally, IXL is actually an XLent application. (see what I did there? why aren't you laughing at the joke? *pulls colt smg* laugh at the joke.) At grade levels 5 and under, the application is great for a quick 10-minute practice session, and is a great application to use if you're a teacher looking to quickly give the students an assignment to refresh their memory. However, once you reach 6th grade, things become shaky as hell. First of all, I hate the point system. Everyone hates the point system. It's unfair, and cannot be reset under ANY condition. This means that if you answer 30 questions and you're still confused with the topic (which can be represented through a score of 70 or below for assignments with the normal scoring type), when you come back and finally understand the topic, you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time essentially answering the same question with different variables. I'm of course talking about IXL math, since it's the most commonly used subject on IXL. On top of that, the point deductions are frustrating beyond belief. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I went from 97 to 89 points because of one silly mistake. Additionally, for IXL math grades 6 and up, the questions don't actually get any more difficult once you reach a SmartScore of 85 or 90, depending on whatever topic you're practicing. All they do is throw in some extra variables and decimal areas, making the assignment more complicated, not harder. The application isn't as terrible as people make it out to be, and if you look past the experience you have with the horrible point system, you can see the silver lining. This is coming from someone that just answered seventy questions to master a skill, and I can say that the Diagnostic arena is my favorite part of the application. It lets you know if you've been improving (if you wait for it to refresh for about a month after taking it), and you can flex on your friends that you're 3,402,840,275,684,002,987,453 grade levels ahead of your own. For those that don't want to read this essay, I understand. Overall, I cannot recommend this to anybody that's trying IXL math at a high level. The point system and the difficulty "increase" (which just overcomplicates questions) leave much to be desired, but I only cried over the application once! Don't worry, I've cried over Roblox more. Have a good!
  • (2021-05-07) A Google User: WORST APP EVER!!! I swear to god if my lazy teachers tell me to use this again im going to flip. This app is used by really really boring and lazy teachers whom dont want to do anything. I am in the 7th grade and I have used this for Many years. This app is not fun AT ALL, Its actually the opposite of fun. It makes students stress too much which makes it harder for us to focus. If you are a teacher whom uses this app. From now on, you are forbidden to use this application with your students. You are only making it worse for the kids to learn and pay attention. (i have broken 2 computers because of this app)
  • (2021-04-22) deez nuts: Its so annoying everytime I get one right its wrong I now its right so bad. It made punch my chromebook hard. Its really stressful
  • (2021-04-13) tajin super cool: IXL IS LITERALLY THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD MY TEACHER GIVES IT TO ME AND IT IS SOOOO FRUSTERATING AND I HATE IT!!! IF YOU ANSWER CORECTLY YOUR LEVEL GOES UP BUT IF YOY ANSWER WRONG THEN YOU LOOSE A LOT OF YOUR SMARTSCORE I HATE IXL BRUH.
  • (2021-03-29) Billy Hawthorne: i'm learning from this,i always feel good when i get one of the rewards even if they look ugly, its really helped with home schooling, i enjoy using it i guess its bc i enjoy school but i dont reccomend they're are so many mad mad kids i feel like im a big fat nerd for liking this since like all the good ratings are IXL ....really dont buy this it makes everyone so MAD! -an nerdy 3rd grader
  • (2021-03-24) Thomas Costa: The scoring system is terrible, but you can learn new math skills...
  • (2021-03-12) Austin Hatcher: It send you back so for when you get it wrong,, but goes up very little if you get it right
  • (2020-12-10) Leia 99: I don't know how many times IXL has made me cry. After five years of being forced to use this, I must say that I am quite disappointed in how little IXL has changed after many years of receiving negative reviews. I am not going to say that it is not helpful because it is, but there are plenty of other sites you can use that are way better than IXL and less stressful. IXL is very stressful and it can be quite unfair. If you have child please do not make them use this.
  • (2020-11-16) Noah Stromberg: Satins work. Thats all I have to say. And I can't rate it 0 stars >:|
  • (2020-11-16) Bricks Is Epic: This is garbage. My school makes me use it every Friday. This sucks!
  • (2020-11-13) Duck: Well it's a good learning website for students, but one small (big) issue. Instead of punishing kids for getting their answers wrong by bringing them all the way back, an incorrect answer should just not give them any points, not take away a lot. If the "Smart" Score is like that I'd think IXL is a great learning tool.
  • (2020-11-13) CoreynotSocial: This site is so garbage it resets your score all the way down if you get a question wrong the rewards are trash the site makes m want to die
  • (2020-10-27) Shawn O'Neill: This app is good at getting kids to practice and not guess. I am a parent and one thing my kids like to do is just guess at answers on their homework. They do not care about grades yet so they just fly though there work and call it done. This app on the other hand does not reward guessing. The only way to complete the work is to get most answers correct and the last 5 questions for sure. In this way my kids truly have to master a concept to move on. Also, if you get one wrong, it shows you exactly, step by step, how to work it out so you can see why you got it wrong. When you complete an assignment, you have truly mastered the concept and have had adequate practice. Kids on the other hand may not like it because it does not let you move on until you can reliably answer the questions. When they get older, they may see the beauty of it. I can see kids give this app 1 star. Parents and teachers give it 5 stars.
  • (2020-10-07) luke daniel: It is the worst website in the world i'm serious i'm in 6th grade and a quarter through the school year and the only thing that i have learned from ixl is to not rage because i broke my computer because of ixl BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • (2020-06-26) Pluto Is Not A Planet: This the despair in real form. Don't get it. All it does is gets you triggered and waste thousands of dollars worth of electronics because you smashed them.
  • (2020-04-16) Ben Hernandez: WORST EDUCATIONAL APP EVER
  • (2020-03-20) Zander Makes Videos: My school uses it. I hate it.
  • (2020-03-16) Sonia Lloyd: Really helpful and easy to use
  • (2020-02-27) Metros: this is the worst math site ever. This makes kids Mad and frustrate. this app is very bad
  • (2019-12-16) venk rao: Hey, most people know that games can be more frustrating. on a 1- 10 scale, games. apps like geometry dash and the now defunct flappy bird is around 8 on the frustration scale. THIS APP BRINGS IT TO A WHOLE ANOTHER LEVEL. This app will tear you apart and give you more crippling depression then watching youtube 2018 rewind for a whole day straight. Teachers, educators and students, don't use this unless you want to trigger yourself or your students, and that scale I mentioned. Oh yeah, this is like a 20. And developers, why do u want to take points away? Why you got to be like that?
  • (2019-10-29) Leo Peters: Makes me want to kil miself (misspelling intentional to not get removed). Please oh please do not subject anyone one to this bs. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I hate Paul Mishkin for creating this cruel and unusual punishment.
  • (2019-04-22) Kat: I liked it but there are some places for improvement. 1) myself and many of my friends accidently hit the enter key when we are typing in expressions. A double check to make sure we want to enter that as our answer would help with this problem. 2) When you miss an answer, the score drops *a lot*. It takes 3-5 right answers to make up for 1 wrong answer. This is very annoying.
  • (2019-04-11) Dylan King: it does nothing!!!!
  • (2019-04-02) I am a student who is constantly studying and learning new information through online resources, and since the school I attend is far in the Digital Age, we've started to use IXL to study our skills. Since I first started using IXL, I had two consistent issues with the program. 1. The quantity of "Smart Score" points you loose when you get a question wrong. I have a problem with this because I feel that this doesn't encourage the student to learn. Especially depending on what the student has in relation to "Smart Score" already. Me personally, I can say it is very frustrating to miss one zero and go from 90 to 84. I think there should be an entire rework of this protocol so it encourages the student to fix their mistakes and learn, rather to feeling punished because they're being deducted enormous amounts of points. 2. The way IXL determines if an answer is incorrect. IXL is very exact, especially for the audience IXL is supposed to be serving here. Younger students, or students who aren't good with keyboards will have a hard time inputting the exact value. I feel for questions that have the student input their own value, that IXL should notify the student if their answer exceeds or doesn't meet the answer's character count. This would help them remember, "Oh yeah there's a zero there!" or could offer assistance inputting their answer by looking at how to solve the specific question. The current IXL way of practice seems more like a test that punishes you for getting questions wrong, rather to encouraging students to continue to develop their math knowledge.
  • (2018-12-20) Cody Wattendorf: Not good
  • (2018-12-14) Will: IXL is the honestly the worst thing that I have ever expirenced. I have spent countless nights screaming and throwing things at this deplorable disgrace to our education system commonly used by lazy teachers. I have had bad teachers, but this is the most terrifying, intolerable thing I have ever come across in all of school. You get one question wrong and you go from 95 to 80 and then you have to spend another 15 minutes getting your score back up to do it all over again. There is a difference between torment and practice and this is simply torment.
  • (2018-09-20) Luke Bodden: This stupid piece of garbage does not work. It keeps changing the answers in certain ones. This program should not be given as schoolwork. It is almost impossible to finish loads of levels. This is not "I excel" as it is intended to be named, it is "I ex-hell"
  • (2018-09-03) Corrin: IXL IS THE VERY WORST LEARNING TOOLONE TIME I WAS ON 99 POINTS AND I GOT 5 WRONG IN A ROW AND WAS ON 11 POINTS I HATE THIS
  • (2018-08-26) Sammie Kalainov: Very frustrating and unfair. This program teaches kids to be stressed and scared of math.
  • (2018-08-18) Meline Dingreville: this app is so frustrating, it is said to be fun but each time I use it I feel so stressed once I was up to 94 and I was so proud of myself and I got my mom (who use to teach math) to check a question she said it was right so I pressed submit and it brought me back to 82 I was so mad and felt like breaking my laptop. I cant believe they make you pay for this
  • (2018-03-29) lily li: So frustrating, and I can't learn anything that I don't already know. It brings you up 2 points, then lowers you down 10 points. I don't think this helps kids want to learn or expect math to be fun.
  • (2017-11-14) JK Scar: it garbage...it not the worst though
  • (2017-10-16) Jason Scardo: THIS SUCKS DO NOT DOWNLOAD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WELL AND YOU HAVE TO BE SURE THAT U DONT HAVE AN EXTRA SPACE CUZ IT WILL COUNT AS WRONG AND MAKE YOU LOSE LIKE 222 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY/DOWNLOAD EVER!
  • (2017-08-17) Michael Conlon: I LOVE IXL!! I think kids can learn a LOT from it!
  • (2017-07-10) Robert Smith: I am an adult who has been out of school for many years. I am studying and I needed to relearn some maths i forgot in school. So I started at the beginning to fill in any gaps I missed during schooling. I have worked my way up to grade 10. I love the fact if you get something wrong you go back some points. This is not school. The school system lets you pass by getting 60% right. This system does not allow you to pass until you are proficient. I must agree it does chuck you back a bit too many points for 1 mistake. Which is sometimes a silly mistake. My children use this as a review tool to work along side of their school maths. They are all straight A+ students. It does not really teach you maths. To make it better they could use some video instructions. Or links to kahn academy videos. The kids like the reward system it has to keep them motivated. Also recently they are adding more play based tools in the program. So its more fun for the kids.
  • (2017-07-08) 麒麟大: Great. If you have ad blocker, pause it if you're doing an IXL problem. It's actually fun and educational, for I learned a heap of stuff from there.
  • (2017-03-30) Landry Grandstaff: Honestly, the other day I was at 99. It brought me to 80 smart score. The system is very stressful.
  • (2017-02-28) Ataul Noor: Not fun AT ALL!!!!! Supposed to be fun... BUT NO!!!!
  • (2016-11-10) Daniel Tull: It absolutely sucks from a kids point of view as missing one number or symbol will cause a 10 point set back. It's also just not fun and not very useful
  • (2016-10-09) Lilly Ward: This program is said to be 'fun' and 'educational', but in reality it's stressful and a waste of time.
  • (2016-09-26) Tarra Miller: Very helpful.
  • (2016-09-21) Killian Dattilo: its just im in second grade its geting harder
  • (2016-08-03) Annie Diemhuong: help me a lot. Thank you
  • (2016-07-02) sadasd: Practice that feels like play? more like practice that feels like hell
  • (2016-06-02) Muhammad Ishtiaq: its trash because when your at 90 smartscore and u get a question right u get 1 point but when you get it wrong it takes away like 20 points and it is very frustrating.
  • (2016-05-30) Not Active: IXL is literally the stupidest thing in the entire universe. You get a question right, and you get five points. You get a question wrong and you go down like 20 points. Absolute trash!!
