- Extension stopped working on Sunday, November 17th, 2024. Please fix this, I can't work. It won't launch the VMWare application. Please fix as soon as possible since I cannot go to work physically, I need to use my remote desktop and because of this, I can't work and will likely need to buy a PC because VMWare is working fine on PCs.

- The worst VDI client I've ever tried.
- John Paul Lorenti
- When the client chromebook goes to sleep and wakes up, the horizon client can wind up in a bad state in which the session is not recoverable but it won't go back to the initial login screen to create a fresh connection.
- Cordel
- I cant even open it. What's the point of having a extension when you cant open it?!
- Daniel Lindén
- Blurs all windows except the focused window. Cannot work side by side on large screens. USB forward doesn't work, it does not recognize card readers.
- Donny Churly
- Tried this app for the first time doesn't work, contacted our systems administrator they reviewed everything and determined there issue with the application because other employees are using the same app from their books without fail.

- This app is AMAZING! It works on my chromebook just like it does on my Windows 10 machine. There is no difference plus chrome OS is safer to use than Win10. It's a win-win for me :-)
- Jamesy
- IT WORKS! It doesn't but it does. As others have stated the way to get it to work is: 1. Download it from the VMWare website (crx file) 2. Right click the CRX file and open it as if it's a zip file. 3. Copy the contents of the CRX file to a new folder elsewhere created by you 4. Navigate to your extensions page in chrome, select switch to Developer mode within the extension tab and load unpacked extension from the folder you created earlier. ***NOTE: For some reason randomly VMWare's customer service portal will just try to redirect me to the store when I select download I'm not sure why but then I googled this specificially ("download vmware horizon crx file") and selected the link to the official VMWare horizon download page clicked download and it began to download the crx file.

- This app has been going backwards for a while now and has proven to be less reliable. There is little to no help or support.
- Jeremy Griess
- The Chromebook version of this app specifically will fire Access Denied and Session Expired errors frequently in the middle of VM sessions. This is unreliable and unusable.
- Alexis Delavina
- I just installed the app and it keeps crashing and leaving a white screen. i can't go any further than that. i am not going to spend money on a Windows computer when my Acer chromebook is brand new. This needs to be fixed ASAP!!
- Jason Richie
- Been using this for about an hour now. So far, works as well on my Chromebook as on my Windows 10 machine. No issues.
- Scott Lidh
- For the most part, this application works fairly well. I have done most of my work with the Chromebook and this client. However, there are times, such as initial logging in, where all I get is a blank screen. This forces me to use a different computer to log in. After that, there doesn't seem to be a lot of difficulty using the client. I do realize, from reading a number of reviews, that VMWare is slow to do anything about these issues if they respond at all.

- Scrolling with your mouse is horrible within the app. I have to turn the mousewheel a lot of times to scroll one step. Outside the app, scrolling is normal.
- Jamie Kwong
- Works great. You only need the server (link), your username, and your password to log in. Your IT department should have the server URL if you don't have it offhand, but it's usually the link you've used previously to access VMware. The app opens a separate window for each session, if you have more than one. This lets me switch to Chrome and other apps needed for my job.

- The basic functionality works on my HP Chromebook 14, but the lag, audio issues, and random freezes make everything just a little more difficult than it should be. I have gigabit Internet and my Chromebook never maxes out its CPU or RAM, so I think these problems are just due to Horizon being a terrible app.

- Update Nov 30, 2021: Still will not allow me to set a main monitor. If I want everything to start on my small chromebook screen it might work, but I want my chrome book as a secondary display. We need a way to designate a primary monitor when starting. They added the select monitor option which is nice, but not a designate primary option. Update Oct 2021: Still will not allow me to set a main monitor. I'm forced to use my chromebook as my main display, whereas I want to use my large monitor as my main display. This makes it useless to me. It worked great before the multi monitor update. Sure, I couldn't add a third monitor, but the two monitors I use daily worked just fine. Then the update and they borked it up bad, and the fix. The fix gets it closer, but it removed the ability to choose a primary monitor. Now it automatically selects my chromebook as my primary monitor, despite me having designated my big monitor as primary. I can't use the current permutation. The html version works ok with 2 monitors, but has it's own unpleasant downsides, such as the copy function is horrible.

- This used to work on my Acer CB3. Now it just freezes at the login screen. I now have to use my 15 yr old windows laptop. Don't bother installing it on chrome, if you need to use it for work pick up a super cheap windows laptop and install it on there instead.

- Works great in Homeoffice. No isses at all. Strangely, the Abdroid App is NOT working on my chromebook...only this one.
- Vanessa Manns
- Horrible interface; white screen unable to access desktop

- Newest update doesn't work. I've been using this extension since March 2020 at the beginning of pandemic and it has suddenly stopped working.
- Ryan Coen
- The update to 8.1.0 (2012) has broken multi monitor functionality. First, the "Use Multiple monitors when available" button in settings is no longer there. It is now hidden in the Display section. When I log into a VDI desktop, with the options selected for "Use all displays" or "Use selected displays" and select all the displays, it attempts to login to the desktop and the external monitor gets hung on "Waiting for other displays" and the Chromebook monitor goes blank. So I cannot use this app with multi monitors in my organization now.

- Thank you !

- With the recent October update - This is almost non-functional! Takes ages to even connect to my Office VDI. After waiting for almost 10 mins, I switch back to an earlier version of Horizon Client to connect to my VDI. In these times when most people are using this to connect remotely, why doesn't VMware provide a stable release for Chrome OS!

- Won't launch. Says "can't open this page" when I click on my work's portal launch link. I didn't have this problem using Citrix. And I don't have the option to run the Android version.
- Rajeev Ranjan
- Over the time it will be very slow. Connecting takes time plus after connecting the VDI is too slow to connect. I am also getting error the connection is not private. If possible help.
- Chris Uminowicz
- Poor performance I have been using chromebooks for (3) years. My current chromebook model has great performance using every previous app. I changed jobs and my new employer uses the vmWare remote desktop via the Horizon client. As other reviewers have stated, this app is lacking. Besides jittery video, even with the correct settings, the mouse performance is frustrating. Re-sizing or moving windows is an ordeal. I will have to buy a windows laptop.
- Familees
- Simply put. It does not work! Thankfully the android version works perfectly on my Asus C302. If your Chromebook supports the android version then I whole heartly suggest you download that version
- Troy Spicer
- Adding to the list where it couldn't connect to the server past the initial login. (Pixelbook) The android app works fine.
- Rajasekharan Sukumar
- Unable to access, very poor in process
- Darshana Agarwal
- does not let Jio Fiber connection with the remote server. Pathetic.
- Connor Toth
- TOTALLY NOT FUNCTIONAL. My company signs in via a link from our Okta login page. ChromeOS said 'Chrome OS can't open this link' until I installed the android app. That app works OK, but I would much prefer an app that doesn't require ARM emulation because of how it impacts my battery life!! PLEASE FIX THIS CHROMEOS APP, THX.

- Unable to use Win Key, Esc Key and some special keys, It always shows the Chrome os's keys while pressing Win key or esc key. Can you help how to forward those keys to VMware client machine ??

- H264 enable option not available, does not work, works fine using HTML 5 on same chromebook or using windows app.

- H264 not mentioned anywhere in settings and is not working inside VM.

- Failed to connect to Connection server. Does not go beyond that

- Doesn't work. Due to COVID19 my employer is looking at all options for remote work. This was one option. Got it to work on my Macbook Pro, but wanted to see if my HP Chromebook 14 G3 would work since my MBP is pretty old. This app is garbage, but maybe its my Chromebook. Works flawlessly for Windows and Mac, but not here. Keeps saying failed to connect to the connection server.
- Brian Check
- v5.3.1 works. It has issues with scaling but is usable. Our setup is VMWare UAG to View Connections Servers serving Linux and Windows hosts. Authentication is using smart cards.
- Yaro Donchenko
- It simple does not connect to server

- I bought a Chromebook to use as a cheap field solution for use with my company virtual desktop system. I tried it on an Acer Chromebook 15. 50% of the time It goes through all of the login steps then goes to a white screen and never launches the remote desktop. Thankfully the VMware Horizon App on the Google Play store works perfectly on it. If you're having issues, go to Google Play and download that version.

- VMware is now using the Blast protocol by default and does not allow you to change to the older PCOIP protocol. As a result, if your not allowing Blast connections from your domain, or are hiding them from your firewall, it will fail. Recommend the Teradichi PCOIP client or have the developers allow the customer to choose the protocol.

- Not working...Full of bugs
- Jeroen
- This app is highly underrated. It works perfectly on a Chromebook, better than the Android app on ChromeOS.
- Eric Nichols
- 4.9 is not working, see the support tab.
- Christopher Evert
- On my ASUS C300, this Chrome store version worked - but would slow and lag over time, severely frustrating, requiring reconnecting every hour to resolve that. I just received an Acer Chromebook 14 to replace that, also to exclusively used for remote access to the office - and this time it's even worse - when you start the app you get an entirely white screen, as many people also report in the support section (read it). There's really no development excuse for unhandled, critical errors and flaws like these. On the ASUS, I installed the Google Play Android version and that worked much better. I'm going to have to try the same with this new machine.

- This version dosnt work, and previous version has been removed... "good" job...
