I learn a lot from YouTube, and I wanted to build a tool that could help me retain and apply that knowledge. So, I built a second brain using AI, which helps me learn better and faster! 🚀
This is a chrome extension which automatically transcribes summarizes the content of the videos I watch. 🧠 Not just that, it can also save the markdown files for easy editing. ✨
I decided to take things a little further and added the feature for it to directly store the transcriptions and summary to Capacities as well! 📝

- (2025-06-18) ERIC Santillan: hi, is this still working? i'm using brave on mac os and not seeing the option to go summarise via chatgpt.
- (2025-01-11) Bruce Tuten: I'll second what Geoff said. I saw the negative reviews but saw Geoff's positive one, so I gave the extension a try. All I'll say is the extension works exactly as expected and is a very nice resource. Thank you to the developer for building this.
- (2024-11-18) Geoff McNeely: I've recently begun my Capacities.io adventure and was learning how to use the tools that were built for it. I was excited to try the YouTube summarizer here but did see some of the negative reviews. I tried it anyways and experienced something similar. It seemed something in the ChatGPT API had changed since the dev originally built it. So I pinged the dev and told him what was going on for me. He replied the next day and 4 days later he had a fix in place. I encourage everyone else who tried this and was disappointed to give it another chance and consider revising your review if it is now working as expected. I appreciate the young developer for his timely communication and ability to resolve the issues. And now I am getting very rich summary text for the YouTube videos I save to Capacities using this. I'm very pleased!
- (2024-11-03) Ayman Raweh: It does not save into capacities. It gives everything to ChatGPT and and I press save to Capacities. I get the answer from ChatGPT and the summary but it does not save into capacities anymore. It used to work!
- (2024-10-27) Péter Ambrus: It doesn't work for me either. Opens a new tab with ChatGPT with the prompts, than it gives me the summary in the chat, but can not save it to Capacities. I'm using the Capacities app, so I'm not using it in the browser.
- (2024-10-21) Pedro Lourenço: it´s not working. It only opens chatgpt and does what I can do without this extention
- (2024-09-19) Caleb Lias: Was 5 star, but no longer works. Clicking the button opens chatgpt to an empty prompt. Extension still shows my api key is linked to Capacities. Edit: Glad to see it's fixed. Happily back to 5 stars.
- (2024-09-14) Max: doesn't work, it just opens chatgpt and does nothing
- (2024-09-12) Taj Chiu: Hey Himanshu - I love your extension but it isn't working anymore. It opens ChatGPT but no longer passes the transcript to ChatGPT. Any plans to fix it?
- (2024-09-04) Rick Sheehan: I forgot I had this installed and watched a long video. Shortly after finishing the video, I saw my transcript and overview. I clicked to add it to Capacities and boom! there it is. This is a great start. Thank you for creating this plugin.
- (2024-09-02) Úi Him Khu: As others have previously mentioned, the ChatGPT window is open, but nothing works properly. I don't receive summaries for YouTube videos.
- (2024-08-29) Mike Shipley: I'm getting the issue where it just opens ChatGPT but there's no prompt. :-/
- (2024-06-30) Victoria Teasdale: I can't get it to show the button to access this at all :(
- (2024-05-16) Paddy Wells: Hi, thanks for building this, it is a really good start. When I send it to Capacities, I am not getting and embeded video in the 'notes' section. I am using Kiwi browser on a mobile - which is how I generally use it, so I do expect it not to be as relaible as using on a PC. The summaries are short and sweet, however, as a personal use case, i often want more in depth summaries saved to capacities. I wonder if in future iterations you might provide options for longer summaries or even custom? Great work look forward to seeing how this evolves.
- (2024-05-06) Drew: Wonderful concept, but doesn't work. Click the OpenAI button and it opens ChatGPT, and that's the end of it.
- (2024-04-28) Prasasti Aich: So useful, saving me a lot of time and effort!
