- (2024-06-28) Alex Marz: I want to love it but without SSL support its largely unusable for me.
- (2022-08-12) Douglas Twyman: Pretty good bare bones IRC client. Only one Ive found so far that actually works decent under ChromeOS. but could use more features like logging in DM and Channels. Downloads would be nice. auto startup of MULTIPLE servers would be nice. It was helpful to at least be able to save them so that is nice. Overall clean and functional.
- (2020-12-05) Ailsie N.: Overall it's a smooth experience, but I hope it can support downloads someday.
- (2020-04-09) PlainDave: I started out not liking this app because it's so simple and bare-bones. But I've grown to like it pretty much. It's no Hexchat, but I can't run Hexchat on Chrome OS. I only gave it 4 stars because it drops a couple of servers when my Pixelbook/Chromebook times out and goes "to sleep". [EDIT: I was wrong about it dropping servers when my Pixelbook goes "to sleep". I fixed that in settings. I now recommend this app, especially since I found out that you can save servers and server info, nicks, etc.]
- (2020-01-08) Derrick Potter: Hottest IRC client around for chromebooks it seems. Appreciate the dark mode and all the options.
- (2019-06-22) GoodBoyFx: love it because other irc cleint (CIRC)vwas totally barebone small font, My main reason to get this is u can adjust FONT size, this app has 19size font still could be bigger. RQUEST: owner of app make it to 28 like it is on mIRC... the king of irc clients..
- (2018-09-07) Pam G.: I love it. But wish there was a byrd chat for ipads. That is how much I love the chat.
- (2018-04-21) Andy Bowden: no dcc, useless
- (2017-10-01) Half Jack (Halfjack): Even though no one has commented on this in almost a year, I have to say that this is the BEST IRC client I've found. It runs smooth on Chromebooks and I love the customizability. Thank you!
- (2017-08-31) Matt Cirillo: Works, but there is no file download support.
- (2017-05-09) לירון צח: no encoding configuration. no language configuration.
- (2016-12-19) Michael Jones: Constantly forgets saved connections.
- (2016-12-18) Simon Dunn: Perfect in nearly every way EXCEPT when scrolling up through previous messages the arrival of new ones sees the position jump straight back to the bottom.
- (2016-12-01) Moike: Constantly loses saved settings.
- (2016-10-01) Taylor Hammond: Easily my favorite, simple, extension for IRC. Get that proxy support out ASAP and I'll change to 5 star!
- (2016-09-02) Jennifer Ordoñez: I like that this had more features than the other app, especially notifications, but I can't use ZNC. I had to switch back to the other app.
- (2016-05-06) Joe (mooo): Best web based IRC client that I've used. Very customize able. Still not as great as a desktop client but this gets the job done fairly well.
- (2016-05-04) Shaun J: Pretty good but still basic, miles better than CIRC however. The icon needs to change though...
- (2016-03-07) Aidan Campbell: Lacks the traditional option suite of standalone IRC clients. For me, the big issue is no colored nicknames. When you're reading a few hundred lines of scrollback, it's difficult to quickly differentiate between users. Other complaints are that connections go into limbo if you sleep the computer or switch APs. Byrd will claim you're connected, and will send lines, but no other user will receive them. Additionally, a lack of inline image support is disappointing. Overall the client is like a middleground between Mibbit and a standalone client, but certainly closer to Mibbit.
- (2016-01-22) Yonik Malik: This is amazing!!!
- (2015-12-30) Reuben James: Great App works well on my Chromebook and Ubuntu Box. The Dark theme looks Awesome too thanks.
- (2015-12-13) Adrien McLemore: well at first i thought this was the most lameiest thing the world before i figured out what it is
- (2015-12-13) Blaffles: I really like this IRC client. Works really well, very easy to navigate and use, and just all-around great. I wish it was easier to customize though, like being able to change the sounds and backgrounds, but otherwise it's really good. If you want to use IRC on ChromeOS, this should be your first choice.
- (2015-11-13) Jayden C: Exact clone of CIRC. Or CIRC is an exact clone of this. Either way, one of the authors is clearly a thief. Both apps are atrocious, ugly as sin, allow limited customization, and break your Tor / Tunnel Bear configurations exposing your home IP address. Unacceptable for modern users who expect privacy.
- (2015-11-02) Joost Vermeulen: Great, simple irc client i'm only missing timestamps in 24h format :)
- (2015-10-12) Thomas Blakely: So, it's very simple. I contacted the APP author and requested a nighttime mode because it's easier on people's eyes (mine included). And they gave me a nighttime mode. Just like that. Seriously, if I could throw money at them I would just for actually responding.
- (2015-09-26) Mikey D: At least* has some options, unlike CIRC, not bad.
- (2015-09-15) 殷启聰: Better if more graphical operations replacing IRC commands.
- (2015-09-06) Hayden Jones: Nice interface, but I HATE that Escape closed the entire chat window instead of just backing out of the textinput like it should. Super obnoxious
- (2015-08-14) Ed Kolis: Can only connect to one server at a time, and there's no way to disable the UI sound effects.
- (2015-08-03) Andrey (Rad1calDreamer): plese, add 2click to nick -> open dialog
- (2015-08-02) Noneya Business: This is coming along great! It could use a file download feature though. That's the only thing that made me give this four stars.
- (2015-07-05) Cory McGinnis: Keeps saying my nick is in use... and it isn't. And on an active channel, it says the server is inactive. This has the single least intuitive user interface I have ever seen. No help, no information. Utterly useless.
- (2015-06-02) Dileep Singh: just get me in and be visually appealing. I wish I could send to tray or keep it pinned in the top bar. Nice One!
- (2015-06-02) Deepika Mehta Sethi: Nice one!
- (2015-04-25) Stephen Rush: I really like the interface and design but it doesn't support ZNC server authentication.
- (2015-04-14) むいにゃん(むいにゃん): Not supported Charset setting.
- (2015-03-29) jay halsdorff: Everything I wanted. I use IRC for work, and when I work from home I use my Chromebook. Keeps me in touch with folks at work. Great!
- (2015-03-16) Brian Bohan: Quick and intuitive to connect to a network and start chatting.
- (2015-03-10) JB Bell: Very nice app, no unpleasant surprises in the interface, does what it says on the tin. Good set of options to tweak without being overbearing. Sensible layout that's easy to understand.
- (2015-02-03) Jonathan Morley: Seems to be working great!
- (2015-01-31) The Sherpa: This application worked flawlessly until this last update. The same user friendly interface that allowed a fair amount of customization and combined it was ease of use is gone, now with limited options. The older version had few issues I encountered, this one doesn't display nor save my servers, my channels or alert me too the mention of my names properly. Previously I would have rated this app 5/5 stars, but now im afraid its a mere two, by virtue of me knowing it can be better. Edit as of January 31, 2015: Returned to the original version promptly. I have faith you will update again in the future with fixes to the previous version, a much smoother UI and more customization. Thank you.
- (2015-01-31) Theofan Maercan: I like Byrd. I think it's the best IRC client on Chromebooks. Some issues.. auto join doesn't work on the new client. Please patch this update asap, I don't want to move on to a different client because Byrd was so great before the update!
- (2015-01-31) Geoff Franks: To the devs: don't release alpha versions. I understand the need to improve the app, but the v2.0 update didn't work at all -- connection issues, no info saving, etc. V1.x was the best Chrome irc client out there -- keep that branch up and you'll get 5-stars from me again! :-) AND, btw, it appears that the v1.x that you have on the Chrome Store now is an earlier version of the app... it looks like the old one, but it does not save info/settings either. Channel connexions and whatnot work tho...
- (2015-01-30) Kahten (LadyKahten): This client worked very well... until the update. Now it doesn't save any of your information, and the automatic NickServ identifier doesn't work. I will be finding a new IRC client.
- (2015-01-30) skzm: It works fine after I restarted it a few times, but honestly, the simplified UI in the previous version was much better with the options to change colors, add in alert phrases, etc. New version is ugly as heck and not as comfortable to use. Bring the old version back.
- (2015-01-30) Ioannis Giannakopoulos: after what you did not working at all
- (2015-01-30) Michael Smith Jr: Don't know what you did, but it no longer works.
- (2014-11-06) Scott Vanderbilt: This is a neat little client and would like to use it exclusively, but without a logging feature, I can't.
- (2014-11-03) Needs SASL. I really like it though none the less. Quack! :) -facepalm
