Important : Unlike other XBMC remote Foxmote relies on the XBMC's JSON-RPC API for communication with XBMC. Unfortunately for some users this may lead to conflicts with existing applications (see Incompatibility list). If you are concerned by this issue you will have to change the TCP port on which XBMC is listening to incoming JSON-RPC calls. This can be achieved like that :
- Create the file advancedsettings.xml (see XBMC wiki http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Advancedsettings.xml)
- Once created copy the following content in the file
<advancedsettings>
<jsonrpc>
<compactoutput>false</compactoutput>
<tcpport>9093</tcpport>
</jsonrpc>
</advancedsettings>
- Restart XBMC
- Configure Foxmote to use the TCP port number 9093
Incompatibility list: Foxmote may not be working as expected if one of the following applications is installed on the computer running XBMC
-McAfee Web Gateway,
-Openfire,
-Logitech Media Server (Squeezebox)
-Cherokee
-Secure Web
-WebSM
-Webwasher

- (2015-06-21) Praveen Innamuri: none of the keys worked for me.
- (2014-11-03) Christopher: About half of the buttons don't do anything. I use my smartphone to really remote control xbmc, this just when I am in front of my laptop. But again, half the buttons don't do jack. And no, no apps running on the xbmc computer. Works perfect with other apps.
- (2014-11-01) Fatih Ka.: So unstable. Tried the advancedsettings thing and allowed remote from other systems but the app is not usable.
- (2014-07-22) Paul Swindlehurst: works ok, unless you have a large media library. Only manages to pull down listings/info for the first 100 or so albums/artists/videos etc.
- (2014-07-21) Jared Luker: Works OK with ONE media center. It really needs the ability to configure more than one XBMC and to be able to switch between them easily. I had no problems with my firewall settings.
- (2014-06-09) Filip Machata: Good, but buggy volume control!
- (2014-03-20) Works Great! Smooth UI!
- (2014-03-12) Raimonds Virtoss: useless, wont connect even with firewall off, other apps works fine
