- (2025-07-16) alioop: So far, from several extensions I tested, this one seems to have the least performance impact on my browser with thousands of tabs open (most tabs are inactive of course, from previous sessions). So I'm pleased about that. However, as John McCabe said in their review, I am also getting many false positives because the titles are the same but the pages and URLs are different. To follow up on what you (Lyudmil Pelov) asked them, I would indeed be very happy if you added some configurable options, like requiring the full URL to match. In the meantime, at least when viewing the dupe list, I can see which tabs have different URLs and I don't close those.
- (2025-06-08) Roberto Ruju: This is a very nice extension, but fails to detect Google Workspace (docs/slides/sheets) duplicates when the duplicated documents are displaying different tabs, slides, or sheets. I've tested this multiple times and can see that the extension only sees the 2 tabs as duplicates when I switch one of them to the same slide/sheet/tab as the other. Google changed the way the slides/tabs/sheets are specified and all that information is no longer just after the hash symbol. For example, for sheets, the format is like this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/{{DOC ID}}/edit?gid={{SHEET ID}}#gid={{SHEET ID}} Similarly, slides in Google Slides are like this: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/{{DOC ID}}/edit?slide=id.{{SLIDE ID}}#slide=id.{{SLIDE ID}} And for Google docs, the URL format for tabs is: https://docs.google.com/document/d/{{DOC ID}}/edit?tab=t.{{TAB ID}} It would be great if the extension could have an option to ignore any characters after the following 3 strings in the URL: "?gid=" "?slide=" "?tab=" This would fix the functionality for finding duplicates of the same Google docs file. Do you think this is something you would have the time to implement? Many thanks for your great work

- (2025-02-14) John McCabe: Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it only seems to use the domain and not the full URL for working out if tabs are duplicates are not, e.g. it showed me a load of tabs from github as "duplicates" but they were all different. Perhaps the number after the tab shows they're different in the UI, but I couldn't find any options to use full URLs.
- (2024-11-29) Mahdi Bayouli: Works like a charm.
- (2024-11-11) Matt Inman: This is the only tab duplicate closing extension that works for me at all. Try the others for yourself, but TabPatrol, Close Duplicate Tab, Tab Deduper, and Duplicate Tab Closer didn't even display duplicate tabs. Close Duplicate Tabs (tabs, plural) displayed some duplicates but not all of them. Close Duplicate Tabs only closed the duplicates once before the extension broke and was no longer able to close any duplicates it managed to detect. If TabPatrol worked it would be my top choice. TabPatrol has an option to auto close duplicate tabs.
