EBook Offline Reader for Chrome is an offline enabled app that lets you open and read epub ebook files. This app runs anywhere you have chrome installed. It's especially handy on a chromebook, because it lets you read your ebooks even when you're offline.

- Allow opening epub file from within the app
- Migrate to new chrome.sockets API
- Use new epub.js library

This app lets you open "epub" ebook files with ChromeOS file browser by just double clicking on the file. It registers the filetype "epub" Perhaps in the future it will handle other ebook types.

Sharron Murray 2023-05-06: Takes a long time to load my travel guide and the hyperlinks don't work. The quality of the pages and the photos are good, but both my library app and kindle work much better than this.
thph 2022-10-10: Can't jump to a particular page - have to scroll through *all* previous pages and it takes time to load pages. If you're on page 875, you'll be scrolling for a *long* time. I'm only on page 50 of a textbook and it's already annoying. If you reopen a book, it starts at the beginning and not where you left off. Cuts the end off long equations or math expression. Hyperlinks don't work. Can't change size. Can't invert black and white.
Kate ll 2021-09-08: this app works great when i download ePub book format. I am using a chromebook and it's the first time I downloaded. easy and recommend the app for others. it's so easy to use.

Problem - when you download a series of books they load into one area, you can get into another book unless you hit the forward key until the end of the book your are on. Example, I get logged out of reader and go back in and want the page I was on, I have to start from the very beginning and hit the forward button through all the pages I already read to get where I want. Frustrating.

alison totten 2019-03-13: Unfortunately this app crashed my CB when I tried to open an epub file from my Drive. When I downloaded the file to my HD, I could open the file but the app only showed the first page and all pages blank after that. I left the file open for a while to see if it needed to load the book but still blank pages after 5 minutes.
