- (2025-07-14) Sigma Flame: Your extension works pretty well but it actually pauses the video. There is a small sound at the begening of the video. To fix that, I would suggest that on your addon: 1) When a new tab is created, auto-mute it the fastest possible. 2) The video will autoplay but your addon stops it as expected. 3) Now, your addon could rewind the video to the start and re-enable the sound for this tab. This way, this would be really perfect. If you implement a whitelist that allows some site, like youtube, to autoplay video, just don't forget before checking the whitelist to verify if a tab is already playing a sound. Autoplay should be disabled even on whitelist sites if another tab is already playing, from youtube or not, example Netflix or Disney+. Thanks you in advance. ^_^

- (2025-07-12) Another Planet’s Hell: I'm baffled by the low ratings. This is the only alternative I've found to my previous AutoplayStopper extension I was using (which Google depreciated due to Manifest 3) that works AND does so globally (on all website). Thank you immensely for this.
- (2025-07-11) Hazel Jerry: Cannot continue playing video affter clicked the continue botton of the website. It fells bad manully toggle switch of this extension at every page
- (2025-07-11) Michael Skurka: MALICIOUS! Hijacks searches and redirects to finditonlinenow.com which then redirects to yahoo.com VIOLATES it's own Privacy declaration: **** Not being used or transferred for purposes that are unrelated to the item's core functionality It is definitely being used for other purposes than its core functionality. This extention needs to be removed and banned by Google.
- (2025-07-11) Mikołaj: Can't play YouTube videos at all with this.
- (2025-07-11) Jason Harmon: This is an extremely worthless extension. It redirects all searches from your address bar to Yahoo.com. WHY @Google did you not flag this before it was release and/or why is it still available for download!!!!
- (2025-07-07) Tim Galbaugh: Forces all my searches in the address bar to Yahoo
- (2025-07-06) Nick Kinnan: This hijacks your searches and redirects to yahoo so that the author can farm search referral payments. It also does not even work. This should be removed from the store IMMEDIATELY, it is MALWARE.
- (2025-07-01) Lee Izakson: It doesn't stop HTML5 videos from play.
- (2025-06-30) Pavel David: Actual version 2.1.1 doesn't block anything. Previous version did at least something. Now completely useless. Added: It's working again since version 2.1.6. It's the only working autoplay blocker I've been able to find so far.
- (2025-06-29) Mohanad Lababidy: it is bad not work when open on new tab the YouTube video keep paused
- (2025-06-27) Tom: Looking for something to block autoplay on FoxNews. This does block it, but YouTube stopped working.
- (2025-06-14) Kurt E.: very bad :(
- (2025-06-13) Former DittoHead: I don't like it. The other one let me designate individual websites. This one does everything or nothing.
- (2025-06-11) Clarence: Exactly What I Needed – No More Auto-Playing Videos! This extension does exactly what it says — it stops those annoying HTML5 videos and audios from autoplaying. I was getting fed up with websites blaring sound or playing videos the moment I opened them, and this completely fixed that issue. Super easy to use — just install it and you're good to go. It works in the background without slowing anything down, and there are no confusing settings to mess with. I also like that it doesn't collect any personal data, which is a nice bonus. If you're tired of autoplay videos ruining your browsing experience, definitely give this a try. Simple, lightweight, and it works.
- (2025-06-06) David Frank: This is now hijacking address bar search and redirecting from Google to several sites and then Yahoo.
- (2025-06-04) Axel: I've been using Disable HTML5 Autoplay for a few weeks now, and it's been a game-changer. No more unexpected videos blaring in the background while I'm trying to read an article or work in a quiet environment. The extension effectively stops videos from autoplaying, giving me control over what plays and when. One feature I particularly appreciate is the customizable whitelist. It allows me to enable autoplay on sites where I want it, like YouTube, while keeping it disabled elsewhere. This flexibility ensures that my browsing experience is tailored to my preferences. However, I've noticed that on some websites, the extension can be a bit too aggressive, occasionally preventing videos from playing even when I click on them. It's a minor inconvenience, but worth mentioning. Overall, Disable HTML5 Autoplay has significantly improved my browsing experience by eliminating unwanted distractions. If you're tired of surprise videos interrupting your online activities, I highly recommend giving this extension a try.
- (2025-06-02) Avy Falk: for unknown reason redirects google to yahoo
- (2025-05-25) Jonathan Humphreys: First website I went to... up pops a video playing. Does not work.
- (2025-05-25) Matias Piquer: UPDATE: Since the last update (23/05/25) the extension is no longer working and does not let play any video at all. Must deactivate it. It works in Youtube but unfortunately it doesn't on other websites.
- (2025-05-25) AJB: Worked fine until earlier this week when it started blocking YouTube from playing at all. Fooled around with setting but the only solution was to disabled the extension.
- (2025-05-17) David Pattern: Yesss, finally a working extension! YouTube videos no longer autoplay when the page loads. Exactly what I needed.
- (2025-05-14) Trevor Adair: Does not work on this site, removing the extension. https://deadline.com/2025/05/elizabeth-olsen-kristen-stewart-oscar-isaac-flesh-the-gods
- (2025-05-10) Tha Spike: Doesn't work on CNN.com
- (2025-05-09) Crystal Identity: UPDATE: Downgraded from three stars to just one! I thought the extension was working fine on YouTube, but I just discovered a fatal flaw. Even when I switch off both 'Block all websites' and 'Block YouTube', it continues to block YouTube videos from autoplaying. For that reason, I must uninstall this extension until such time that this issue is corrected. ORIGINAL 3-STAR REVIEW: What Matias Piquer said. It is working on YouTube, but doesn't appear to be working for other sites. So I give three stars for now. If the next extension update makes it work globally on other websites, I will change my rating more favourably. Also: Please add a White List feature, to allow for exceptions. Thanks!
- (2025-04-23) Andreas Matzko: This Extension is more a problem, than a solution. Its blocking nearly all buttons and links i see on pages, not only videos. Most pages are not useable, without whitelisting. Which means videos are autoplayed again. Also several forums i am visiting often, don't work anymore. Can't navigate anywhere until i white list it.
- (2025-04-07) Philip Fenske: Still blocking buttons and drop downs on too many sites.
- (2025-03-31) Dan: Breaks more than it fixes. Even disabled the "Add to cart" link on Amazon, and the only way to whitelist a URL is to TYPE IT IN!?!? (Version 1.7.1)
- (2025-03-26) Patrick D: Blocks links to embedded YouTube videos, not autoplay. I just want to disable autoplay, not disable my ability to click through to YouTube video links. Tested on latest version 1.7.1 (Mar 24 2025).
- (2025-03-24) Tom Croswell: Didn't try it on everything but it blocked FoxNews.
- (2025-03-23) Susan Lopez: please update
- (2025-03-23) John Mck: I'm waiting for a new version with the whitelist option

- (2025-03-21) Sarah Jahn: New York Times -- Extension doesn't work on nytimes.com unfortunately :-(
- (2025-03-15) Tim Miller: It does stop videos from automatically playing, but on Youtube it totally blocks the video from playing at all. So it's unusable right now.
- (2025-03-11) Michael Landauer: Prior to version 1.3, this failed to stop videos from autoplaying. As of 1.3, it stops videos from playing completely, even if manually played.
- (2025-03-05) Greg J: Does not work. Didn't work on any site I tried it on. Not sure why it's still here.
- (2025-03-05) Robert DeMattia: As others have said, it doesn't work
