TheTab.Ninja revolutionizes your new tab experience, turning it into a powerful, private, and fully customizable launchpad. This advanced bookmark organizer and tab manager is designed for users who demand control and efficiency. Stop drowning in tabs and reclaim your focus with a dashboard built for productivity.
Key Features: Your Command Center
TheTab.Ninja is more than just a pretty new tab page; it's a complete productivity tool.
📑 Advanced Bookmark Management: Go beyond simple folders. Create visual collections for your projects and hobbies, add notes, and sort them by name, date, or your own custom drag-and-drop order. Managing your bookmarks has never been this intuitive.
🔄 Private & Secure GitHub Sync: Your data, your control. This is a serverless Chrome extension. Sync your entire setup across devices using your own private GitHub repository. All syncing is manual, giving you full control over when data is pushed or pulled. No external servers, ever.
🚀 Launch as Tab Group: Supercharge your workflow. Launch an entire collection of links as a new, organized tab group in Chrome with a single click. It's the perfect way to start your workday or a deep research session.
🔍 Powerful Search & Filtering: Instantly find anything with a smart search bar. Use operators to narrow your search: filter by collections (#), search everything globally (%), or use quick shortcuts for Google (?) and ChatGPT (!).
🗂️ Effortless Import & Export: Your data is never locked in. Effortlessly switch from other tools with built-in support for Toby import (including v4 JSON) and standard JSON export for easy backups.
Why TheTab.Ninja is a Better Choice
🔒 Privacy by Design: We believe your data is yours alone. Your bookmarks and settings are only stored locally on your machine and, if you choose, in your own GitHub repository. We never see, collect, or sell your data.
👨💻 Open Source and Transparent: Curious how it works? TheTab.Ninja is a fully open-source tab organizer. You are free to inspect the code, contribute to its development, and be part of a transparent, community-driven project.

⚠️ IMPORTANT FOR MAC USERS! ⚠️
Always use GitHub synchronization or an automatic backup system, because Safari deletes localStorage when extensions are updated.

- (2025-05-25) Di Xia: Quite responsive when handling large amount of bookmarks. I wish it could have a navigation panel and spaces (as in Toby) for better organization of bookmarks. I also wish it could have a more compact view option so that more bookmarks could be displayed per page.
- (2025-05-17) Jeremy Watt: Super interesting ideas here. I like the concept (an easier / more polished way to store tabs and bookmarks) and the idea of a github backup. I couldn't get the github backup to work properly, but you always have everything saved in local storage.
- (2025-03-26) Khalid Kuba: As a single developer did this, it's amazing. Still waiting to add Spaces/Pages feature.
- (2025-03-21) Phat La Truong Hoang: clever tab organization
- (2025-03-20) לירן בלומנברג: It keeps my tabs and bookmarks organized, syncs with GitHub for privacy, and the UI is clean and easy to use. Love it!
- (2025-03-13) Andrew Jakobs: Excellent replacement for Toby. Hope it will get more improvements over time like extra styles, but for an individual who just wants something that works like Toby, with its collections, this is great. But for sync purposes you will need a github account and setting it all up isn't for everybody. (I'm using it with the current version of Microsoft Edge browser)
- (2025-02-25) Stan S: Better than Toby
- (2025-02-20) James: Like Toby, without paying a fortune, runs faster too. Hopefully the developer makes it open-source on github so we can all collab-improve it.
- (2025-02-09) C L: I’ve encountered an issue with the tab manager plugin. When I try to manually add a new page, the process fails. Additionally, when dragging a new tab to a target position, it can only be dropped within the visible screen area. The tab manager does not allow me to scroll down to a new position to drop the tab, even if there is space further down on the screen.Could you please look into this issue? It would be great if this could be fixed in a future update.
- (2024-10-26) Rui LU (SixRui): seem's not compatible with Edge. hoping to add sync function
