- (2025-07-07) William Liddell: I'd give it a zero stars if I could. Unless the old PWD manager was broken or compromised there was no reason to fix it. The new version conflicts with other pgms, doesn't load on startup [tried], is kludgy, and a good percentage of the time new PWD saves don't save. Overall, a POS. Rethinking my whole security pgm on renewal, and this PWD manager is part of the reason. Oh and aside from it saving multiple entries for one site, all the incept dates defaulted to the new pgm install date. Great!! NOT. Not ready for prime time...
- (2025-07-01) Adam Aley: Surprise surprise... after the big buy out, shitification has the upper hand. Pfffft
- (2025-06-15) Ivan Leo: just bring back old avast password!! This new avast password doesn't work!!
- (2025-05-25) Philip Barnea: I would give it a big fat 0 if I could. What a load of rubbish. The old password manager worked great - this, well to say it doesn't work is a compliment. Almost 100% bad comments here and have they done anything about it? As far as I can tell, NADA. Will be changing antivirus and everything when subscription runs out. Sorry Avast but you dropped the ball big time on this one.
- (2025-05-22) Roger Zimmermann: I do not like! I have to keep signing on to get it to work on my home computer. Very time consuming.
- (2025-05-21) Stavros Mourikis: Used to work great as it was integrated with the Premium security. Now, it does not integrate with the Avast browser and is really annoying. I think I ll change antivirus altogether...after so many years....sad.
- (2025-05-20) Stephen White: Appalling. No legacy for older systems. Passwords lost. All to get you to spend more money. If there was a 0 star available you'd get that.
- (2025-05-19) Ross K: Avast has really blown it with the conversion to Password Manager. They have deleted all of my passwords for easy login to regularly used websites. Time to find a new anti-virus protection provider.
- (2025-05-08) Darrin Solomon: The process works. I did not have any problems following the process like many other people seem to have. HOWEVER, if you see a 1.6/5.0 star review for an app migration that is REQUIRED and has a DEADLINE to be completed, then you absolutely must take your time, follow the instructions VERY carefully, and take pictures or screenshots of the instructions at each step of the process (just in case something goes wrong) AND SAVE YOUR PASSWORD DATA TO YOUR LOCAL COMPUTER BEFORE YOU START THE PROCESS (and make sure you save the file in a folder that you can easily get to)!!! Then you can easily import the file into the new Avast Passwords Manager. *** I am giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating because the procedures said that saving your passwords to your local computer is NOT advised. *** However, this should be required as many people seem to be losing all of their passwords (which could be in the hundreds of passwords). And the Avast Passwords Manager extension should give people the option to delete the saved passwords file at the end of the process as not to leave the file exposed after the migration. It tells you to delete the file, but it should give you the option delete the file AND do it for you if you select yes. ** I also think the migration process should be made simpler for people who are not very tech savvy. Like 1 to 3 clicks and everything is done for you. **
- (2025-04-28) David Alston: Absolute unusable rubbish. Lost all my passwords
- (2025-04-27) Martin Spacek: it was terrible idea to do this version. Only an idiot can do this new wersion wiyh aout an normal transformation. I lost all passwords also to the router. Terrible. How i can get my information back. You have to let the program be avtive for reading as usual. Not stop it and the user have had no chace to transform it and when your process has bags make the necesorry steps to finde the all passwrd and acounts . Realy bad realisation.
- (2025-04-27) Chris Thomas: I have lost 100s of passwords????? have followed the instructions - and am not an idiot. have tried this numerous times across different browsers, passwords are now gone. This is terrible
- (2025-04-21) Vibe: Works fine in my side, got all my passwords in
- (2025-04-12) rix on drums: Do not use. I lost all my passwords and cannot get them back. Real POS.
- (2025-03-16) Richard Gregory: A pile of cr*p. Take a good programme and make it unusable. Why oh why oh why?
- (2025-03-16) Doug: I hate the new and "sh*tty" replacement for the Password app that we've been using up till this point. Many of my passwords/accounts have been dropped. What to hell gives? I can only assume Alberto works for Avast... Update St Patrick's day: It's a bumpy ride, seems OK now, but I keep getting requests to update to Password Manager so I'm confused. If this so I delete my passwords in the original app, here I go: If things go sideways I'll be back...
- (2025-03-12) Brian Dunn: Good grief Avast. What is wrong with you?
- (2025-03-12) Cindi Erickson: I used to LOVE Avast Passwords, but I'm not a fan of this new extension! I was never able to get my LONG LIST of passwords to import into the new system on Chrome! I asked for help from support and they couldn't get my password file to import either! They said they would have a tech person work on the situation and get back to me, but I haven't (to my knowledge) heard anything back from them! (As a side note, I did FINALLY get my password file to upload into Microsoft Edge, but that isn't the browser I use most often!) I'm very disappointed that Avast didn't leave well enough alone! The old system worked great , so I have no idea why they decided to change over to this new extention! (Also, once you start using the new system for new passwords, it does work great, but if you don't know your old passwords to start with, it's pretty worthless!) Just my 2-cents on the new system.
- (2025-03-11) meriem: It works I don't know why others say it does not.
- (2025-03-10) Alex K: avast passwords was one of the only good things about this antivirus and they ruined it, password manager does not work at all and i lost alot of my passwords
- (2025-03-09) Anoushka DogBotherer: Doesn't work, plain and simple. What were they thinking? This isn't even half-baked.
- (2025-03-06) John McCarthy: Pist off. Can't get my passwords to work. I'm cancelling everything and using a different system.
- (2025-03-05) S Lord: Didn't and still doesn't work for me correctly. When my subscription is due for renewal I will move to a new antivirus provider. Surely Avast didn't think this one through?
- (2025-03-05) RAJ Bromley: Totally agree with the majority of the reviews.......it is absolutely C--P..... If it works , 'YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT'.....There was nothing wrong with the old 'PASSWORDS' ......EEEEZY to use...............Have lost most of my passwords ................PLEASE Avast set up some sort of a recovery app......Pretty Please........NOT A HAPPY BUNNY.......
- (2025-03-04) Trudine Wilson: This is the hardest update or change to a website. I have tried so many times I can not remember how many. It has to be an easier way. I feel like I have lost all my Passwords. If anyone has any help I would like to hear about it
- (2025-03-01) Scott Bassett: Avast used to be so simple and easy--alas . . . it has changed! The ONLY feature I really like about the new Avast Passwords Manager browser extension, versus the more localized Avast Passwords (in my Avast Premium Security app), is that I don't have to pay for more than one device now, in order to have multiple access to all my almost 400 passwords (guess I need to clean them up a bit)? As a matter of fact, I don't have to pay at all, anymore; unless I want one-touch (which I never use as I don't have a smart phone) login and/or Password Guardian, the latter of which I don't listen to analytics, anyhow!! (Without saying too much, all my passwords are just iterations of a base and/or previous versions: otherwise I CRS??)
- (2025-02-25) Gery M: Import Function from previous version NOT Working yet!!! If you want that feature I would stay away..
- (2025-02-25) ian gordon: Confused and concerned. Help!
- (2025-02-22) mark klein: Switched over wished I hadn't no way to retrieve master password unless I know the password . im not happy worst software switch I have ever seen . Actually worst I have seen from Avast. Took what I thought was a great program and neutered it. Was this intentional ? very displeased and disappointed.
- (2025-02-16) Ken Allan: I have just installed the newest version without an issue. I downloaded my google saved passwords which I then uploaded to Avast Passwords without any losses. Saved the backup key to the cloud.
- (2025-02-13) Brian Egles: Utter rubbish - import gives error and no indication what to do next. And as for saving a key to unlock all your passwords on a piece of paper - utter madness.
- (2025-02-09) Jim Boh: Quick and easy setup. Installed the newest version in seconds with my saved passwords. Sorry to read so many people are having problems. Was smooth for me.
- (2025-02-06) Lando 365: Auto export files doesn't work as other users have described. However you just have to open the old app, choose import/export and export your passwords to a .json file. This imports fine.
- (2025-02-05) Star_ Light: Awful!!!
- (2025-02-05) Jogi Flower: Sorry, but thats not the way to work. The handling login and to import existing login is horrible many fails. Password Manager for Avast browser, no symply onli the browser tool its also not amazing. Transfer ftrom passwords to P. Manager wont work, need to install Google Crome to get the add. The Migration Tool in the new realase wont work cause json File wont be read! One star to much! Soon update ore we leave in complete!!!!
- (2025-02-04) Kia Gibson-Clapper: Not impressed
- (2025-01-29) Kim Deffey: hate it! want old one back!
- (2025-01-29) Angel Medina: I have no option for giving 0. What a stupid manner of spoling things working perfectly. Persons giving 5 stars should be volunteers for explainning how they got it
- (2025-01-28) Golden Oldie: they sent me a notification telling me that passwords would be going at the end of February and changing to password manager. So I thought my passwords would be safe until I could migrate them today, but no all passwords have now been lost as passwords disappeared on the 27th of January. Thanks a bunch avast absolute rubbish. Will not be renewing my subscription as they also took payment for that last year in August and it was not due for renewal until end of September. Really stressed out by it all.
- (2025-01-27) Yegor Yakovlev: This is a very bad extension. I couldn't even log in, the application mistakenly thinks that my country is under "embargo". I received a letter from support ([email protected]) with stupid questions, it is obvious that they did not even read the complaint from me. Avast, this is a fail.
- (2025-01-24) Tom Breen: Long-time Avast user, and fan of Avast Passwords. Used it from multiple browsers on Windows 10, and on my Android cell phone. Worked GREAT on Windows and good on my Android cell phone. Was always there when I needed it, and it didn't have to tell me it was there. Now with the new and improved Avast Password Manager Extension it has to send me a notification EVRY TIME I open a browser that has the Extension. Why on earth would you program it to do that? If there is a way to disable "that" Extension notification, PLEASE make it much easier to find. I am trying not to change to another password manager, which could lead me to another security/VPN provider too, after so many years. Please fix this annoying notification.
- (2025-01-23) eden wood: Why would Avast leave Avast Secure Browser out of the choices for a web browser? Why do this to users who pay for the service?
- (2025-01-23) George Zaidmann: Tried migrating my passwords as shown. Couldn't get it to work on Opera. It downloaded to Chrome but I could not transfer my passwords to it. I ask was all this necessary as the old version was supposed to be absolutely safe. I now am using another password manager and no longer Avast.
- (2025-01-22) Alberto Giordana: Working, easy to use
- (2025-01-22) Andrew Darby: I've just added the extension but I cant upload my passwords, I cant find them on my computer despite searching for them using the file name given! Its made the whole process a lot more complicated for me and I'm now worried that when passwords ends in Feb im going to lose all of my saved passwords unless I manually add them.
- (2025-01-18) Sapa Mondal: Avast earns money from us - their clients. They should keep their stuff easy and not consume our time which we need to spend to earn the money to pay them. This upgrade from Avast Passwords/ Senhas to Avast Password Manager is absolute BS. It orks in Chrome, while Avast Secure Browser is what I use. Have updated in Chrome as directed, but nothing reflects on Avast secure browser. It is time to discontinue with Avast.
- (2025-01-18) David Clifford: This new system for passwords is overkill. Not at all logical. Just anoter nightmare from Avast. How much will this one eventurall cost?
- (2025-01-14) Ben Fordrin: I'm extremly unhappy with this. I don't trust my browser enough to manage all my passwords. So I don't see why this should be more secure now. Avast Passwords was one of the reason to even use Avast, and now they remove this feature. It's BS, really. Don't do that please.
- (2025-01-14) Nicky Strydom: Not happy with the new password vault extension. Couldn't upload the exported passwords. New system adds extra vulnerability and risks, might as well store passwords in my browser. So frustrating!!
- (2025-01-02) younes laanzour: I can't upload my exported file to this extension. managed to upload a small file with 17 password but the big one from password manager I couldn't import it π
