If you click a malicious link in an email or navigate to a site designed to trick you into disclosing financial, personal or other sensitive information, or a website that hosts malware, Microsoft Defender Browser Protection will check it against a constantly updated list of malicious URLs known to Microsoft. If the malicious link matches one on the list, Microsoft Defender Browser Protection will show a red warning screen letting you know that the web page you are about to visit is known to be harmful, giving you a clear path back to safety with one click. (2023-11-21) Betty Sanchez: I didn't even know that I had this extension installed til I had a problem with it. I can't open ANY SINGLE web...All of the sudden, all of them are reported as unsafe. That can not be possible... I can't neither swicth it off or delete it. Result: I can't navigate at all using google chrome. If I use a different browser then I can. Obviously is not a problem of the website visited, but the extension.

(2023-04-12) Karen Roach: I compared safe browsing apps. MS Defender compares your browsing to tables of known threat actors in realtime. Anonymously. Defender, on a Windows computer has very low overhead and if you are setup to automatically download and install via Windows Update it is always current. Google permanently logs all of your browsing, keyed to your Google email ID, if you add their Safe Browsing extension. Sounds like spyware to me.

Verstehe ich das richtig, dass das Plugin für Chrome eingestampft wird?! Es wirkt generell so, als ob Microsoft die Nutzung von Edge weiter forcieren würde. Der Homepage-Link des Plugins browserprotection.microsoft.com führt plötzlich auch nur noch auf eine allgemeine Seite mit Tips zur Nutzung von Edge.

Leave it to Microsoft to remove something from the most popular browser to make it exclusive to their browser to try to increase market share and make you a product.. I've seen this story regarding Microsoft played out for decades and they still haven't changed. I will never use Edge and this just hardened my resolve. Wichtig, ist die Intelligente Kombination, mit anderen Erweiterungen dieser art (von anderen Malware Hersteller, einfach z.b Malware Guard eingeben, denn im Gegensatz zu, antivirensoftware ergänzen, diese Erweiterungen sich! Das hier ist keine Antivirenlösung! Es erkennt keine Malware verseuchten Dateien oder Erweiterungen an sich sondern block nur die Domains! Auch sind diese art der Erweiterungen meist Kostenlos z.b Online Security eingeben!)

(2022-06-23) Aaron Horler: This extension just caused a major outage for the company I administrate, by falsely deciding to block a number of sites we use. If you're an organisation using Chrome, my suggestion is to just enforce Google SafeBrowsing by policy and then deploy a DNS-based tool like Cloudflare Gateway or Cisco Umbrella instead of using this extension. It'll save you from Microsoft taking your business offline.

He contrastado con la extensión de MalwareBytes y la verdad es que esta última ha bloqueado todo correctamente. Pudiendo instalar ambas gratuitamente os recomiendo esta última. Esto es en 2022, veremos si WD sigue mejorando, lleva una buena línea para estar prestando un servicio gratuito de antivirus.

My other browser safety extensions detect it more often though. I've reported multiple sites already for malicious and/or phishing websites. Needs more signatures though, overall great extension.

Dose exactly what it claims. Has never gotten in my way, given me a false positive etc. And it's so lightweight I don't see any reason not to install the extension.
