💡 Traditional distraction blockers have a list of blacklisted sites, such as social media platforms and games. This generalization can be a problem—what if you need to watch a YouTube video to learn a concept, or message a classmate on Instagram about a group project? Your typical productivity extension would block you. No Hooting Around addresses this issue by intelligently blocking content on a page-by-page basis rather than entire websites.
🦉 To use the extension, you simply tell Ollie the Owl a task you wish to complete, and he keeps watch over you until it’s accomplished. Ollie monitors whatever you are viewing, analyzing everything from articles to images to chat messages, and decides if it’s relevant to the inputted task. If he catches you off-task, he redirects you to your last productive page. Whenever Ollie isn’t quite sure if the content is distracting, he’ll prompt you for additional context to make a decision. P.S. Ollie has short term memory loss, so none of your information is tracked and saved.
