  • (2024-03-08) Tristan Rhodes (Triad4k): Works well, but be mindful about "Entire Site" option. If you want it to work on an entire site, first go to the root site (i.e. www.website.com) if you go to a sub-page (i.e. www.website.com/page1, then it doesn't seem to work for the whole site, and will only work if you select "Single Page". Once i figured that out, it's worked every time by selecting "Entire site" when the page I'm on is at the root of the website.
  • (2023-12-12) Mark Lenny: Wow! I'm actually surprised this works in 2023 being that this hasn't been updated since 2013!
  • (2023-10-05) Kim Takala: I would give it five stars if there was an option to edit the favicons of sites for which there's no landing page, i.e. a site that logs you in and immediately redirects you to another site. So a way for you to manually enter the url, instead of it being tied to you being on that website with the given url. Currently there's no way to change that. That's sad, because that's the only reason I downloaded this extension.
  • (2023-07-27) Tiana Smith: Worked perfectly. I changed the Twitter X back to the original bird (in Brave browser and Arc browser even). Thank you!
  • (2023-07-25) Emmanuel Oyekwe: Worked great, changed the twitter X back to a bird, now it doesn't look like a porn tab.
  • (2023-07-24) Tristan Wemm: Doesn't work, unfortunately. Tried changing the favicon on Twitter, and it remained as the X.
  • (2023-06-28) mmmad8: perfect
  • (2023-04-19) Manu Krane: Works perfectly, EVEN AFTER 10 YEARS OF NOT BEING UPDATED!!
๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—น๐˜€ ....this is the message I get when I click on it to use it.
  • (2023-03-10) mogilevsky sharon (stevik): does not work on linux, when i select file the menu quits and when i write down the file path it cannot find it. which is strange because it works on macos which is using the same file system
  • (2023-02-21) John Huff: Worked for me. Another identically named extension had more features, but didn't work.
  • (2023-01-19) Puddsszzz G: easy to use and actually works unlike other ones A++++
  • (2022-12-14) 1: Worked perfectly for what I wanted.
  • (2022-11-10) Florian โ€œfurominโ€ Gaul: Great extensions! Does exactly what the name states! Now I can finally add favicons to sites I use that have none and even change an existing one! Just open the site you want, click the browse button (in the popup) and select a new icon. You can choose between changing the icon on a site level or per single page. Congrats dev, you did a great job!
  • (2022-06-23) Mรกrk Bikali: doesnt work well for gmail accounts, it turns on and of constantly
  • (2022-03-05) Mark Newman: I have three html pages on a local drive and have assigned each one a new favicon. (Each web page contains a different list of things that I refer to a lot.) Each favicon is in its own folder. They install correctly but after the first time you open the local html page, they all revert back to the last .ico used. In other words, the procedure isn't 'sticky'.
  • (2022-01-12) Alex West: This is a great chrome extension. The GUI is very ugly, but it is easy to use, and works like a charm. You simply have to choose wether to use the favicon for a single page, or an entire website, and then you need to choose the image, and press change. That's it! You have your own favicon for that website! Some people have been complaining about the file path thing, an easy way to get around it is to press the "Browse" button, which will open up Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) and you can just choose the image from there. I love this extension! 100/10!
  • (2021-11-19) Michael Kolesidis: Doesn't work anymore, did all steps, it says favicon changed, but nothing happened.
  • (2021-10-29) Ian Rae: Works ok at first, but keeps forgetting about the favicon and going back to the original. Not something I want to keep setting. If it kept working, I'd give it 5 stars.
  • (2021-10-20) D1tw Em1: This is fantastic, but I seem to encounter a few problems. The icon for Google Classroom doesnt stay the same, it reverts to normal when I enter the site. Any suggestions ?
  • (2021-10-20) Ruslan Ishmametev: ๐Ÿคฉ
  • (2021-10-14) Pershawn Hamidi: works like a charm
  • (2021-06-24) Mat Schaffer: This _almost_ works, but unfortunately the custom favicon is only appearing in my bookmark bar every _other_ page load. So the default icon is there half the time, which sort of defeats the purpose. If anyone know how to fix this, ideas are appreciated.
  • (2021-04-06) Joel Kramer: Doesn't work in Ubuntu Linux 20.04
  • (2021-01-31) Yannick le Restif: Does work but missing two important features IMO: - Not possible to apply to subdomain (e.g. https://icloud.com/notes/* as opposed to the whole icloud.com site) - Not possible to save changes to my Google account so that they're synchronized to my other devices
  • (2021-01-25) Laura Kishimoto: Useful extension, but some additional features would make it even better: * Avoid scaling of images: do not skew images that are not square. * Accept SVG images, as many browsers do. * Option to use an emoji character as an icon (which can be done via SVG)
  • (2020-10-22) Michael Bergman: Assuming this extension isn't stealing my data, it's great. Works as intended.
  • (2020-09-22) Jean-Philippe Vankemmel: Works great ! Simple and not buggy !
  • (2020-03-28) Philip Pearson: This would be a really great extension if it worked properly. Unfortunately however I configure it, it remembers a sites default icon for a while then suddenly changes it to my favicon for no apparent reason. There seems to be no reliable way of making it always use a site's default icon and only then changing it to mine if the site doesn't have one. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether Chrome is syncing bookmarks or not - the same still keeps happening. Pity - it really deserves 5 stars
  • (2020-02-15) khaki: Werkt zoals het zou moeten! Upload het nieuwe icoontje vanaf je computer door op "Browse" te klikken. Druk daarna op "Change" om je icoontje te gebruiken.
  • (2020-01-22) Zach D: I like the concept when it works, but they keep changing back. It was to save time with organization, but it is a waste to constantly reset them.
  • (2020-01-09) Omar Orcan: The only response when the green star is clicked: Not possible with chrome.google.com urls Rempved it and good riddance.
  • (2020-01-09) Stephen Cornelius: It's very flaky with bookmarks to specific Google search pages. When you first start Chrome it generally won't show the icon for bookmarks to such pages. It seems like it should be a simple fix, so if they could get on and do that I'd be happy to 5* this then, but for now it's more frustrating than useful, as you look at the bar expecting to spot your bookmark, only to have to work out which G it is. 2.51 stars.
  • (2019-12-15) Bridget Stahovic: Does exactly what is says! Thank you!!
  • (2019-12-07) Kate Abbott: This works great BUT it wont change the favicon for google docs which is what I needed it for. It changes other websites just fine, but not specific google docs.
  • (2019-12-06) Kyle Bigler: I set up my bookmarks bar with ONLY favicons...no titles, words or letters, just the favicons. As such, it's important to have clear and recognizable favicons in my bookmarks bar. Since moving to dark mode in Google Chrome, a few of my favicons really weren't showing up right and it just made the bookmark bar look pretty ugly. This extension has solved my problem and my bookmarks bar looks better than ever. I'm now thinking of changing some other favicons that show up fine, but have ugly logos...Or maybe I'll see if I can find all white logos that will really look cool across a blacked out bookmarks bar (sort of like a custom icon pack for Android...).
  • (2019-11-08) b witt: Does not work with bookmark folders. I wanted this to change the folder icon to match the favicon already on pages.
  • (2019-09-18) Margus Meigo: Why Would anyone expect, that something with a PENTAGRAM on its program icon, actually would allow You to REMOVE THE PENTAGRAM from address bar. Aarrgh! these commiealiens..
  • (2019-08-27) Patrick Warren: Does exactly what it claims to do. Works great in both Chrome and MS Edge (Chromium). If blank icons in your bookmarks bar annoy you, then this is a good solution.
  • (2019-07-09) James Erickson: super simple. I just went to my page source grabbed the existing favicon. Pasted that into Gimp and changed it up a little. Then I went to the Favicon Changer clicked to change the favicon and the refreshed the page. That's it! Super easy to use. Simple layout and no confusion. Thank you for this.

  • (2019-06-16) Victoria Mutter: nice. easy, works.
  • (2019-06-10) Padraic Doyle: Doesn't appear to work on linux. Reports that "Image Location is not valid"
  • (2019-05-15) Liam Stritt: Works like a charm. I use it to make my bookmarks look clean, because some sites have awful low res favicons or favicons that are too dark for my already dark-themed Chrome. As others have said, the UI could be cleaned up and made to look a bit better which is why the final star is missing, but for something that I can "set and forget", it does a great job.
  • (2019-04-03) Wesley Thaeron: There's a concept held by greybeards that all really good software exists to scratch an itch. Which is to say that it solves in a concise and elegant manner a particular vexation. The term elegant in this instance meaning that it accomplishes the task with the minimum of fuss, muss, & avoiding any chocolate mess. The rest of the time it stays the heck out of the way. Further, it behaves in most cases as one would expect, and in those few special cases it provides clear user feedback as to why not, together with what it requires to satisfy ones request. Last but most important of all it doesn't break anything, always allowing the user to back out gracefully of any changes leaving all as before. In the overall scheme of things, having the ability to alter a tiny little icon associated with a particular URL is a small thing. But not having that ability, to some of us, is a pretty big deal. That ugly little placeholder in the address bar and in our bookmarks makes our eyes twitch when it appears, it vexes us so. This extension is an excellent example of really good software. Not only does it do what is intended, it does it well without any unneeded kruft. Running light without overbyte. If you're the type of person, like myself, who needs a tool like this. I highly recommend it.
  • (2019-03-14) Reil G: Doesn't seem to support Chrome on Ubuntu 18? I tried browsing to an image and it doesn't populate the field and filling it up with a full path (eg. /home/user/image.png) also doesn't work. I don't know, maybe I'm just not using it right. > - Usage details: Designed for Windows. Does not work with Mac. Ahh, I guess this doesn't work for Ubuntu also then. Too bad.
  • (2019-03-12) L'extension fait certainement son travail sur Windows mais enfin, il serait bien que l'extension soit adaptรฉe au systรจme de fichiers UNIX (ce qui n'est pas le bout du monde...).

  • (2018-11-13) Anton Hartman: Does exactly what you'd expect. Works great.

I'd love to be able to manually edit the URLs and use wildcards so that anything that had the same first section of the URL (e.g. www.site.com/subsection1/*) could have the same image. Your plugin is very helpful for me, thanks a lot.
  • (2022-04-28, v:1.0.3) Steven Wittwer: Linux support?
I have Edge installed on Linux, and this doesn't work (I use it in Windows all the time, and love it!). Once I browse to the image, the whole dialog closes. And I can't seem to type in the path either. That says invalid.
  • (2021-04-13, v:1.0.3) Joel Shapiro: Different Slack instances count as same site
Slack uses URLs all use the same emoji and the url structures make them seem like the same page https://app.slack.com/client/[WORKSPACE ID]/[ROOM ID]. If I could use a regex or "starts with" as a way to pick what page gets what icon, it would be amazing. I have two different slack groups that I run out of browsers and not being able to differentiate them is driving me crazy

  • (2020-12-05, v:1.0.3) Gio Sal: If URL changes, cannot remove entry ...
Using the great 5-star extension for many years. Over time, several sites have completely changed or abandoned their original URL syntax, which makes editing or removing the entry impossible. Anyone find a way to remove an entry when the URL has changed and the old URL no longer exists? Made up example ... Old: mylaundry.com New: login.laundry.com P.S. this extension handles subdomain changes perfectly, but only has trouble with deleting changed top level domains that no longer exist
  • (2020-12-02, v:1.0.3) Khalid Mokhtarzada: Reseting
I have multiple Google Apps accounts. I've updated the favicon for Gmail. One account continues to go back to the original, while the other works fine. -- What am I missing here? Why does it not hold? Please note: When I go to the Favicon Changer, I can see the one I loaded in the bar, but for some reason it doesn't change the actual favicon. I am able to updated this by clicking "Browse", selecting, and WALLA! Fixed. BUT only for a limited time. As I mentioned, it goes back to the original.

  • (2020-10-22, v:1.0.3) Rico Schulz: Version 86.0.4240.75 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)
Favicons are exchanged for white favicons. That works too, but there have been problems since the current Chrome version. As an example when using WhatsApp and Telegram, If a message from a user arrives from these pages, the tab is open, but not in the foreground (not selected) (not in focus), then the favicon is displayed again by Whatsapp or Telegram. This means that when the website updates the tab, the original favicon is displayed again, but this is not wanted.
  • (2020-07-29, v:1.0.3) David Landrith: Does not work on Linux.
As explained by the previous poster, this fails to do anything at all on Linux. Evidently, it has never been tested on a Linux system, because the responses mischaracterized what is going on. When I click on the Favicon Changer icon on the toolbar, I get the popup window where I can enter a location. If I paste the file location into the text box (retrieved by opening a new tab and dragging the desired PNG file into it, and then copying the "file:///..." URL), it tells me "Please use the Browse button." When I use the browse button, a file browser dialogue opens, and the popup window from the Favicon Changer toolbar icon goes away as soon as it opens. I select the file, and nothing happens -- the popup window has already been closed so that reopening it simply shows a blank text-entry box.
  • (2020-05-08, v:1.0.3) Michael: Favicon Changer
I used your product and added a Favicon to a saved bookmark in chrome that did not have one. When I removed the extension the Favicon went away also. I thought it might be a glitch or a one time issue, so I specifically added a favicon and removed the extension and POOF it was gone. Why? I liked the ext. but only use it 4 or 5 times a year. so after use I remove the ext. I'll look for a more reliable one now and will review yours in a week or so. Thank you Michael 5/8/2020

I don't understand if I have to put in the absolute path or relative (in this case, to what?). I tried to use the absolute path but without success. If I use the file chooser button, the file chooser dialog opens but at the same time the extension dialog disappear. I'm using linux, are you validating that the path is windows-like?
