HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
- Download the extension and log into Monarch
- Make sure you are logged into your Amazon and/or Target account from the same browser, then connect to that retailer using the extension
- Your initial sync will include orders from the past three months
- Any orders that are matched to transactions in Monarch will be split and/or recategorized as needed
- You can choose to have a new sync occur every 24 hours to match and categorize any fresh orders
- Historical orders can be synced with a manual backfill from the extension settings
The extension currently works with Amazon and Target, with more retailers coming soon.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- While the extension currently supports Amazon US, we’ll be working on Amazon Canada soon.
- This extension uses AI to process receipt data and properly categorize transactions. No personally identifiable information is ever shared and the only information passed through is what is required to analyze the order itself (i.e. item name, merchant name, price and purchase date).

- Amazon and target have been consistently wreaking havoc on my budget, but this extension is amazing! In addition to splitting and categorizing purchases, it also drops links to your orders in the transaction notes, making it easy to review purchases. This is a great solution to what had become an intractable problem - I'm looking forward to finally getting some of this wildcard spending under control.

- When it works it is great, but it doesn't work most of the time. I spent a month of back and forth with Monarch's support and in the end they told me their bug is too hard to fix and they don't have a fix ETA for it :-/

- As far as I can tell this thing doesn't work at all. The screens and actions described in the help docs don't match reality. Nothing functions as it's supposed to. Except one thing, thank goodness: "Remove from Chrome". At this point that's the only button I need for this failure of an extension.

- Very convenient - if you have two separate Amazon logins for your partner, you can log-in and sync each account separately. I hope this will be automatic with future updates

- Worked nicely except for combining two items together. My order of four items was split into three transactions. A vitamin supplement and a pill organizer were combined into a single transaction under the medical category. Not a big deal, I just had to modify the splits. Time will tell how much a nuisance this becomes as more retailers are added. e.g. when Target is added next, each split may need to be scrutinized to make sure groceries and other items don't get mis-categorized. All-in-all, this extension will save time over trying to look at invoices and calculating tax for each item when splitting multi-item orders.

- I think Monarch has potential to be a one stop shop for simple personal budgeting however accounts that use a two factor authenticator (i.e. financial institutions) fail when syncing so unless you go in and update manually each time you open the app/website it really doesn't give you a full picture of your accounts.

- I just installed the Monarch Money Money/Retail Purchases extension. It worked like a charm! The accuracy with which Monarch categorized my Amazon Purchases was amazing. What i purchased is noted in the 'notes' section for the transaction. If you use Monarch Money, I highly recommend you install the extension.

- Cannot get it to work. Support said it won't work if I have over 180 transactions from the last 3 months. I uninstalled to try to get it to only sync new transactions and it just shows it Syncing and then stops. Frustrating - this would have been very helpful to me!

- If you want a budget tool, especially to replace Mint, you should use Monarch. And if you use Monarch and buy anything from Amazon, you should use this extension. Instead of all your Amazon purchases disappearing into "Shopping," or having to navigate Amazon's Byzantine system of orders to connect the dots, it brings the item description into the Monarch app as notes. It saves me so much frustration. Set it up once and it runs in the background.

- Still needs some work! The "Sync older orders" doesn't work for me at all. Drilling into, for example "Import orders from 2024" just sits and spins. Nothing in Chrome's inspector console log. Last 3 months works great, I've logged in/out and reinstalled the extension a few times.

- Basic funtionality of the add-on works flawlessly. The last 3 months of orders were easily imported and the automatic categroizations make sense. Manually syncing older orders has been hit or miss for me. After several attempts, I got it to work for one of the previous years by ensuring both Amazon and Monarch were recently logged in, then making sure my laptop did not go to sleep while the add-on was still working. Hopefully this (one-time) historical importing process can be made more robust in the future.

- worked great for me out of the box, splitting and categorizing transactions. of course i always review by hand before doing a month-end, but it seems pretty accurate! excited to see this applied to other vendors like aliexpress or walmart!

- It's a great idea and a feature that is a must. However, more than 70% of my transactions are unmatched even though the exact amount is found in my monarch transactions. Very strange.

- I like this functionality and think it could be applied to other services, such as Venmo. However, I would really want to see the name of the product I bought in the merchant field (or at least show the item name in a column in transactions). It's not easy to see the notes field in Monarch and you can't add it to the list views.

- I was really excited to try this out, but after spending a couple of days trying trying to get it to work, the sync consistently fails without any clear error messages or explanation of what went wrong.

- Glorious! Given the breadth of Amazon's offerings, categorizing every purchase as "shopping" leaves a lot to be desired. Was that $23 from last Wednesday groceries? clothing? health & beauty? Before this Chrome extension, you were on your own to figure that out. But now, it is painlessly done for you! How could you not like that? Monarch uses the items purchased to reclassify your expenses. It seems to work flawlessly so far, synching history to include the last 60 days or so as soon as you install and log in. I just discovered settings to allow pulling older history, going back multiple years - bravo! Within the extension you can see that Monarch plans future expansion to include other major retailers such as Costco, Walmart, etc. For us, Amazon was the most important vendor, but I look forward to seeing this working with many other stores soon.

- Finally! For those wondering, even though it's a Chrome extension it will categorize all Amazon purchases, including those made through the Amazon app. And it has a neat little bubble you can click for each expense that tells you what it was to confirm the categorization. Well done.

- Bravo to Monarch for solving our biggest problem - categorizing our Amazon transactions! They are numerous and this is so tedious. I would love it to go back a little more in time, like 6 mos to a year. But so far so good!

- Does what it says. A major time sync is having to go back and see what we ordered while reviewing transactions. One thing it does which is great is that it puts in the notes exactly what you purchased. Having that automated will be nice. Yes, they are getting access to a lot of personal information....but at this point with the amount of data they have on me, it is what it is. If you plan on running for President, I'd suggest not getting this Extension.
