Breadcrumb makes every web page remember you.
Close an article, come back tomorrow, and the page instantly scrolls to the exact line you left off—highlights and notes intact.
Why you’ll love it
Save time: Stop hunting for “Where was I?” on long docs, PDFs, blogs, tutorials, research papers, changelogs… anything that scrolls.
Good‑bye tab overload: Finish later with confidence. A tiny progress bar in the toolbar popup tells you which pages you still need to read.
One‑key highlights: Press <kbd>Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + H</kbd> to paint and keep text on any site—no accounts, no export/import gymnastics.
100 % local & private: All data lives in Chrome’s secure storage. No servers, no analytics, no tracking pixels. Ever.
Zero setup: Install and forget. Breadcrumb auto‑saves as you scroll and quietly restores when you return.
How it works (in plain English)
As you read, Breadcrumb watches the scroll bar (throttled to avoid performance issues).
Every few seconds it stores two tiny numbers—page URL & scroll position—plus any highlight ranges you create.
When you revisit that URL, a content script waits for the page to load, checks if the layout still matches, and jumps you back in a blink.
Designed for minimal permissions & battery life
• Uses chrome.storage sync so your progress follows you to any signed‑in Chrome profile.
• Code is under 100 KB and sleeps when you’re not scrolling.
Open source & community‑driven
We keep the code public so you can audit or contribute. Join the discussion on GitHub and help shape the roadmap (dark‑mode highlights? per‑site rules? voice notes?).
Install today and never lose your place on the Web again.
