Description from store Provides quick and easy access to lots of information about the current page and environment; tab title and URL (all the way down to the protocol used), shortened URL, meta information, screen and page dimensions, browser information, cookies, plugins, formatted date & time, operating system, geographic location, referrering page, colour depth, current selection, markdown formatting, statistics, scripts, and style sheets Just to name a few... Better yet, using a unique template system it allows users to easily create their own templates making the possibilities endless and includes a built-in step-by-step guide to help you write your own. These predefined templates are also provided to help you get started; * URL - Copies the URL of the current tab * Short - Copies the shortened URL (using any of the supported services) * Anchor - Copies an HTML anchor tag with the URL and the tab's title * Encoded - Copies the encoded URL (to be safely added directly in to an HTTP query) * Markdown - Copies a Markdown inline link with the URL and the tab's title * BBCode - Copies a BBCode URL tag with the URL and the tab's title * Selection in Markdown - Copies the current selection on the page as Markdown So with a click of a button you can add all this information directly to your system clipboard without any formatting. (2019-09-18) M K: Why do all the reviews for this extension end around 2016? Did everyone switch to a better tool? I installed this years ago when COLT (copy link text) stopped being available. I like Template, although the name is annoyingly generic, making it hard to search for. This ext seems like it's more complicated than it needs to be, when you first get it up & running. That said, I enjoy that it has some advanced features, I just haven't been willing to put in the time to figure them out. Also the documentation/guide/examples are fantastic-- if you can find them. Took me forever to realize there was more info on other tabs (but maybe that's just me).

(2015-09-18) Leo Davidson: Great at first, but the configuration keeps being messed up for me. I turned off all default menu items and replaced them with my own, and some days I will try to use my custom action and instead it will perform one of the default ones. Opening the config and closing it again seems to reset things, but only for a few days. In the end, it's easier to do things by hand, but if this was fixed it would be a great time-saver. Another minor issue is the settings are not synched with the Chrome/Google user profile, so you have to configure the extension on every PC you use Chrome on.

(2013-05-07) Josh Mckibbin: UPDATE: The below issues were resolved and incredibly fast. Very impressed by the developer's support. ORIGINAL REVIEW: No longer works. Clicking on the links in the dropdown menu does absolutely nothing. Also switching the Toolbar Behaviour action to Template only works for the URL template. Switching to a different template does not work.

(2012-01-06) Alain-Christian: Doesn't work. Used to work when I first installed it but now it doesn't. :( EDIT: Never mind, I solved the problem. First I reinstalled the extension but that fixed nothing. Then I check to see if there was an update to Chrome and there was. So updated Chrome, relaunched the browser and now everything works. :)

(2011-11-09) Jim Leis: citation templates! As a blogger, I was looking for a simple citation extension that would select a highlighted range and copy it along with the url and page title. I didn't find one. But I did find this extension, which does a whole lot more. It accomplishes my citation requirements without thinking, although you have to build your own template. It would be perfect if it could also put in the date.

Hello, it's been a couple of weeks that this extension is giving me problem. At the beginning was perfect and smooth usage. Now, every time I try to shorten a link I get the error "Short output was empty". There's no way to make it works again. I removed it and installed it again, check the update for Chrome (but I am using my company laptop), cleaned cookies and history. Could you check it please? It's very useful and I would be sorry not to have it.

Hi, lately I reported some issues with the extension. When I click on a template the loading bar appears but then nothing happens. The extension remains loading and nothing is copied to the clipboard. How can I resolve this problem? Thank you so much!

[url={#shorten}{#encode}{url}{/encode}{/shorten}]{title}[/url] This does not seem to work! Copies the encoded URL instead of shortened URL. YOURLS really has issues with URLs with & and other special characters so trying to get this work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Doesn't work with Vivaldi browser. Vivaldi uses the Chrome engine. Most addons for Chrome work with Vivaldi.

this will be a better application for paste a template in a forum or a webpage, like you have a BBCode template and you just apply it will be similar to BBcodeXtra that will make a grate extension
