How to Get Started
Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store
Click on the extension icon in your browser toolbar
Start asking questions about any webpage immediately using our shared API key
(Optional) For unlimited usage, enter your own OpenAI API key in the settings
Using Your Own OpenAI API Key (Optional)
While the extension works out-of-the-box with our shared API key, you can use your own for unlimited access:
Create an OpenAI account: Visit OpenAI's website (https://platform.openai.com/signup) and sign up for an account
Generate an API key:
Log in to your OpenAI account
Navigate to the API Keys page (https://platform.openai.com/api-keys)
Click "Create new secret key"
Give your key a name (e.g., "AI Chat Assistant")
Copy your API key (it starts with "sk-")
Enter the API key in the extension:
Click the extension icon and then click the settings gear (⚙️)
Uncheck "Use shared API Key"
Paste your API key in the designated field
Choose your preferred model and response length
Click "Save settings"
⚠️ Important: When using your own API key, usage incurs costs based on the number of tokens processed. GPT-3.5 Turbo is more economical while GPT-4o offers higher quality responses.
