Installed it, specified my email address, renamed categories, activated primary, social etc categories, re-fresh, change of sequence of those steps... Whatever I tried DOENST WORK

This is great! However, it doesn't work with the new Quartz style- if it could be made to work it would be perfect!
Remember you must - Add Your Email First, Refresh and Tabs will Rename. Super Cool.
Good Idea, has not been updated so it does not work.
I LOVE this extension but for some reason it just stopped working for me. I did just add the gmail app on my phone and I noticed that the tab names I created on my imac weren't working on my iphone - could that be what made it stop working? The tabs on my imac went back to their old names and when I try to change them I can't save the tab names.

Works exactly as described. Easy to use. It took less than 3 minutes to change the names on my tabs to make them more descriptive.
On my second try, it worked! I am so happy :-) Just "add your email" and then go from there. Simple things are the best. Hate "Inbox" after two failed tries, one lasting 4+ months.
Awesome... Awesome... Awesome... Awesome... just one thing, it only changes the titles for the first five tabs, and not for others like travel and finance. If that was possible, then it would be great!

Still working as of the end of November 2016, and doing exactly what it's supposed to.
You will need to add your email address to get the extension to work. Otherwise, this is a great tool.
OMG This is the holy grail of Gmail. I never understood why Google didn't implement this, and this is magic: does just what it says. Only downside is that it seems a little resource-heavy, and when you drag a message to another box it retains the same old label, but you soon remember which was renamed and it is easy. THANK YOU!!!
