True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker: Your Solution for a Clutter-Free Browser!
Are you tired of having dozens of the same website tab open, making your browser slow and hard to navigate? Whether it's from clicking external links, automated application pop-ups, or simply navigating around, duplicate tabs can quickly get out of control and hinder your productivity.
True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker is a smart and highly customizable Chrome extension designed to solve this exact problem. It intelligently monitors new tab attempts and existing tab navigations, applying your personalized rules to ensure you only have the tabs you need, exactly how you want them.
Key Features & Benefits:
Automatic Duplicate Tab Prevention: No more endless identical tabs! True Tab ensures that once a specific site is open (according to your rules), new attempts to open it are intelligently handled.
Consolidate Existing Tabs: Beyond just blocking new duplicates, True Tab can actively close multiple existing tabs of the same website, consolidating them into a single active tab for maximum organization.
Customizable Rules: Define specific rules for any website. Set a "base URL" and let the extension manage anything that follows it.
URL Exclusion List: Need to allow certain specific pages from a website to open multiple times? Easily add them to an exclusion list within your rule.
Flexible Tab Behavior: Choose exactly how you want True Tab to handle duplicate attempts:
Prevent New Tab (Keep Existing): If a matching tab is already open, the new tab attempt is blocked, and the existing tab is activated, becoming the sole instance. All other matching duplicate tabs are also closed.
Update Existing Tab with New URL: If a matching tab is open, its URL is updated to the new incoming URL, and the existing tab is activated. All other matching duplicate tabs are also closed.
Boost Productivity: Spend less time closing redundant tabs and more time focusing on what matters.
Lightweight & Efficient: Designed to run in the background without slowing down your browser.
How it Works:
True Tab acts as a smart guardian for your browser tabs. When a new tab tries to open or an existing tab navigates to a URL, True Tab checks it against your custom rules. If a match is found, it applies your chosen behavior (preventing, updating, or consolidating) to keep your tab count in check.
Privacy Policy:
True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker is designed with your privacy in mind. This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal Browse data, history, or user information. All your custom rules are stored locally in your browser's synchronized storage and are only used to manage your tabs. Your data stays on your device.
Take control of your browser tabs today with True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker!

4. "How To Use" Guide (Can be included in the Full Description or a separate "Support" section):
Getting Started with True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker
Follow these simple steps to configure True Tab and start enjoying a clutter-free Browse experience:
1. Installation:
Install "True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker" from the Chrome Web Store.
Once installed, a new icon (your blue/green tab icon) will appear in your Chrome toolbar. You may need to click the puzzle piece icon and "pin" True Tab for easy access.
2. Accessing Options:
There are two ways to open the True Tab options page:
Right-Click on the Icon: Right-click on the True Tab icon in your Chrome toolbar and select "Options."
Via Chrome Extensions Page: Go to chrome://extensions/ in your browser, find "True Tab Duplicate Tab Blocker," click "Details," and then select "Extension options."
3. Adding Your First Rule:
On the True Tab Options page, click the "Add New Rule" button. A new rule block will appear.
Base Website URL:
Enter the main part of the website URL you want to manage.
Use an asterisk (*) for wildcards!
Examples:
https://www.google.com* (Matches anything starting with https://www.google.com, like google.com/search, google.com/images, etc.)
https://mycrm.com/calls/* (Matches any page under the /calls/ path on mycrm.com)
news.example.com (Matches only the base news.example.com)
Exclude URLs (comma separated):
If you've used a wildcard in the Base URL, but want certain specific pages from that website to always open as new tabs (i.e., be excluded from blocking), enter them here, separated by commas.
Example: If your Base URL is https://mycrm.com* but you always want https://mycrm.com/help and https://mycrm.com/admin to open as new tabs, you would enter: https://mycrm.com/help, https://mycrm.com/admin
Additional Link Behavior:
Choose one of the two options:
Prevent New Tab (Keep Existing): If a tab matching your rule is already open, any new attempts to open that site will be blocked, and the existing tab will be activated. Any other already-open duplicate tabs for that rule will also be closed.
Update Existing Tab with New URL: If a tab matching your rule is already open, that existing tab's URL will change to the new incoming URL, and it will be activated. Any other already-open duplicate tabs for that rule will also be closed.
4. Managing Your Rules:
Delete Rule: Each rule block has a "Delete Rule" button. Click it to remove that specific rule.
Save All Rules: After adding, editing, or deleting any rules, always remember to click the "Save All Rules" button at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
5. Testing Your Rules:
After saving, try opening the websites included in your rules from different sources (e.g., typing in the address bar, clicking a link, or simulating an external app trigger). Observe how True Tab manages your tabs!
Troubleshooting:
If a rule doesn't seem to work, first ensure you've clicked "Save All Rules."
Check your "Base Website URL" for typos or incorrect wildcard usage.
Ensure the True Tab extension is enabled in chrome://extensions/.
Reload your Chrome browser if needed after making significant changes.
