Ask ChatGPT – Browser Context-Menu Assistant
Ask ChatGPT lets you send any text you find on the web straight to ChatGPT with a single action, then see the reply immediately.
How it works
Highlight the passage you want help with.
After you highlight, a small “AskChatGPT” button appears in the upper-right corner of the page. Click it and a new ChatGPT tab opens where the question is sent automatically.
Alternatively, you can right-click and choose “Ask ChatGPT” from the browser’s context menu.
Key features
• Instant hand-off from selection to response—no copying, pasting, or extra clicks.
• Optional prompt prefix so every query can automatically start with text such as “Please explain…” or “Summarize in bullet points…”.
• Model picker that lets you leave the field blank for ChatGPT’s default model or specify your preferred one (for example, gpt-4o).
• Temporary mode that launches the chat in an ephemeral session so your conversation is not saved to history.
• Lightweight and private: the extension never stores, tracks, or shares the text you select; it simply hands it off to ChatGPT in your own browser tab.
Perfect for researchers needing quick clarifications, developers looking up code snippets, students translating or simplifying passages, or anyone who wants ChatGPT available with one effortless click. Highlight any text, tap the floating AskChatGPT button (or use the right-click menu), and let ChatGPT do the explaining—fast and hands-free.
Install it, highlight anything, and let ChatGPT do the explaining—faster than ever, totally hands-free.
