Description from store This interactive web-based dashboard is a powerful tool designed for pharmacovigilance professionals, medical researchers, clinicians, and data analysts to investigate potential associations between drugs and adverse events using real-world data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). What the FAERS Dashboard Does: Unlock insights from the FDA's Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database right from your browser. This powerful Chrome extension lets you search for any drug and up to 5 adverse events, generating an interactive dashboard to visualize trends, statistics, and case details. Powered by the openFDA API, it's perfect for researchers, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in drug safety data. Core Functionality: 1. Targeted Data Retrieval: The tool initiates a search for all FAERS reports that mention the specified drug and the adverse event. 2. Critical "Suspect Drug" Filtering: This is a key feature for data accuracy. The dashboard automatically filters the retrieved reports to include *only* those where the specified drug is officially listed with "drugcharacterization" as '1' (Suspect). This eliminates noise from cases where the drug was merely taken concurrently (concomitant) or was interacting, ensuring the analysis is focused on reports where the drug was considered the primary cause of the reaction. 3. Automated Disproportionality Analysis: The dashboard automatically calculates two key statistical measures used in pharmacovigilance for signal detection: *Reporting Odds Ratio (ROR): It calculates the ROR and its 95% confidence interval. *Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR): It also computes the PRR and its confidence interval. 4. Comprehensive Data Visualization: The application generates a series of charts and graphs to provide a deep understanding of the case reports: *Outcomes Over Time *Demographic Breakdowns *Top 10 Co-Reported Suspect Drugs *Top 10 Co-Reported Events 5. Full Data Export: With a single click, you can download the complete, filtered dataset of "accurate reports" as a CSV file. How to use: 1. Enter complete name of the suspect drug and the preferred term (add up to 5 for multi-event analysis) and press "Generate Dashboard". 2. Upon successful loading, the dashboard will display several metric cards at the top. 3. Review the cards for "Total Cases," "Serious Cases," and "Resulted in Death" to understand the overall scope of the reports. 4. Examine the "ROR (Reporting Odds Ratio)" and "PRR (Proportional Reporting Ratio)" values to assess the statistical strength of the drug-event association. 5. Identify trends in report outcomes over time by viewing the "Reaction Outcomes by Year" chart. 6. Determine demographic patterns by analyzing the "Cases by Patient Sex," "Cases by Age Group," and "Cases by Reporter" charts. 7. Assess the clinical context by reviewing the "Top 10 Suspect Drugs" and "Top 10 Co-Reported Events" lists. 8. Sort the line-level data by clicking on any column header within the "Case Reports Line Listing" table. This re-orders all reports based on the selected column. 9. Navigate through the complete set of reports using the "Previous" and "Next" pagination buttons located below the table. 10. To save a specific visual, click the "Export Chart" button associated with that graph to download it as a PNG image. 11. To save the complete dataset for offline analysis, click the "Download Line Listing (CSV)" button. This file will contain detailed information for all filtered reports and the a, b, c, d values used for the statistical calculations. 12. API Key Support: Optional openFDA API key for higher query limits (get yours free at open.fda.gov/apis/authentication). 13. Privacy-Focused: No personal data collected—searches are local, and your API key is stored securely on your device.
