Grammit: The AI Grammar Checker
Extension Actions
- Extension status: Featured
Check your grammar and refine your writing with local-first AI.
✦ AI-Powered Corrections
Grammit's AI is great at correcting spelling and grammar mistakes. But it also catches other errors. Did you accidentally write "The theory of evolution was developed by Charles Dickens"? No worries, Grammit will correct that to "Charles Darwin".
✦ AI Rephrasing and Drafting
You can ask Grammit to help you with your writing tasks. Just ask it to rephrase your writing to make it more professional and it will do that. Or have it draft an email for you or help you brainstorm ideas.
✦ Works Everywhere
Whether you're writing emails, social media posts, or chat messages, Grammit is there helping you write clearly and confidently.
✦ Local-First AI Can Correct Right on Your Computer
Select between a local-first, an always-local, or an always-remote AI model to control where your data is corrected. Other grammar checkers (*cough* Grammarly, *cough* Quillbot, *cough* LanguageTool) may require using a remote service to correct. Grammit can check your writing directly on your computer using a local AI model.

Is this for me? Support and sales teams, teachers, healthcare professionals, HR, lawyers, students, writers, real estate agents, and more can benefit from Grammit.
If you're tired of mistakes slipping through or uncomfortable with companies reading your writing, it's time to switch to Grammit. It’s free!
When you use Grammit’s on-device local AI, all grammar checking, rephrasing, and chats with Grammit happen entirely on your computer without your writing being sent to external servers. If you use our remote AI model, we do not retain your writing, nor do we use it to train models.
Try Grammit today to see your writing improve.

- A stellar tool from the Blaze team (whose AI Blaze extension is also great). Grammit took a little while to get off the ground — when first released, it was at an alpha or beta stage. But now, even though it still could use a little more polish, it has reached a level where I'm happily disabling Grammarly and using the far-superior Grammit instead.

- Cool tool, but it has a problem with CH German, as it often tries to trick me into using German from Germany. Can I enforce behavior?

- Does not work locally despite trying to set obscure setting like #prompt-api-for-gemini-nano #optimization-guide-on-device-model #prompt-api-for-gemini-nano-multimodal-input in chrome://flags. (i9 285k 128gb ram, 3090rtx...)
