The only thing I really don't like is the watermark in the bottom left corner of the browser, I watch a lot of videos with info in that corner and it blocks it in full screen. I wish there was an option to turn it off.

• (2023-10-17) Kaizer 01: It's good when it works. Sadly it doesn't *always* work. I'd say it works like 40% of the time. Also when it does work, it adds a little overlay to the bottom of the page that I can't turn off and shows up even with videos on fullscreen.

If you just want ads to be silent and nothing more, this extension is not for you. I wonder if I could even support creators I like while using this.

• (2020-09-22) Mikael Klages: No way to only mute ads, it forces me to also auto-skip and hide the visuals of the ads too. Sometimes it instantly skips ads without waiting 5 seconds, which is very annoying since it'll ruin my ad-karma and just give me longer unskippable ads later

Shame that auto-skip is bundled in to the same setting as auto-mute (because some creators deserve the revenue more than others). But that drawback is more than made up for by the fact that it dims/desaturates ads so you don't even have to see Matthew McHollywoody's face as he tries to sell you old man cars.

• (2021-05-27, v:0.1.7) theultramage: the polling and the blurring
  I took a peek at the code and noticed a few possible areas of improvement: 1) The extension unconditionally polls for 'ad-interrupting' element every 100ms. This seems wasteful. The other extension sets up event listeners for playback and seeking. 2) The extension applies a blur and greyscale filter on the ad. Depending on how efficiently the browser and gpu deal with this, this might be a resource-intensive gimmick. It will also most likely result in the ad view getting invalidated if Youtube detects this sort of tampering, since the user can't properly see or hear the ad anymore. I recommend removing this. 3) The extension adds some overlay text via css. I am not sure if this adds any value, since progress is already visible on the video seek bar. And again, I would be wary of layering anything directly on top of live video playback, unless I properly understood the performance impact.

  I would like the option to mute ads and not skip them so I can support the channel a bit more. Sometimes the ads are maybe 10 seconds longer than if you skipped them and I'm fine with waiting a bit more. If I notice there hasn't been a video playing for a while (while listening to music videos) I could switch to the tab manually and skip the long ads manually. So I would suggest splitting up Mute Ads and Skip Ads. They would still be on by default, but we would have the option to not skip ads.
