• (2024-08-01) Mikael Klages: No way to only mute ads, it forces me to also auto-skip and hide the visuals of the ads too. Sometimes it instantly skips ads without waiting 5 seconds, which is very annoying since it'll ruin my ad-karma and just give me longer unskippable ads later EDIT: Still has the same issues, and sometimes youtube decides to change something that breaks the extension, but in general has drastically improved my yt experience.
• (2024-05-19) Lawh: This works exactly as intended in late 2021, and it's a shame I haven't looked for an app like this sooner. I do hope the creators still get their moneys. EDIT: 19.5.2024 Not working today, but it goes on and off. It's still a good app as long as they can keep up with YouTube trying to spam you.

The only thing I really don't like is the watermark in the bottom left corner of the browser, I watch a lot of videos with info in that corner and it blocks it in full screen. I wish there was an option to turn it off.

• (2023-10-17) Kaizer 01: It's good when it works. Sadly it doesn't *always* work. I'd say it works like 40% of the time. Also when it does work, it adds a little overlay to the bottom of the page that I can't turn off and shows up even with videos on fullscreen.

This is a darn shame because this extension was great for a long time. It'll sit at some ads that are 3+ min and won't skip them. Sad trumpet noise

• (2020-10-05) Salih Küpeli: It is like a different version of adblock. Some ads almost don't even appear. There are options but they are very limited. If you just want ads to be silent and nothing more, this extension is not for you. I wonder if I could even support creators I like while using this.

Edit: Why does YouMute need the browsing history permission? What is this used for? These 2 youtube links both play the same video. YouMute doesn't seem to work with the second link yet. • (2018-12-16) Prime Technophilia: No longer works unfortunately, could be something changed on youtube or chromium's end, no idea, the only thing this extension does now is auto mute the ads, no fading out or skipping.

Shame that auto-skip is bundled in to the same setting as auto-mute (because some creators deserve the revenue more than others). But that drawback is more than made up for by the fact that it dims/desaturates ads so you don't even have to see Matthew McHollywoody's face as he tries to sell you old man cars.
