# Browser Nag Blocker
This Chrome extension removes distracting and unsolicited browser promotions and sign‑in prompts. It specifically targets:
- **Google’s “Switch to Chrome” banner** that appears on Google sites when you visit with a non‑Chrome browser.
- **Microsoft Edge promotional bars**, often displayed at the top of Microsoft sites, urging you to download or switch to Edge.
- **Google One‑Tap sign‑in pop‑ups**, the small overlay that encourages you to sign in to third‑party websites using your Google account.
## Installing the extension
1. Download or copy the `nag-blocker-extension` folder onto your computer.
2. Open Chrome and navigate to `chrome://extensions/`.
3. Enable **Developer mode** (toggle at the top right corner).
4. Click **Load unpacked** and choose the `nag-blocker-extension` folder containing `manifest.json`.
The extension will immediately begin blocking the specified nags on any site you visit.
## How it works
The extension injects a small content script and CSS into every webpage. It hides iframes loaded from Google’s call‑out service and Google’s One‑Tap authentication system, removes known Microsoft Edge promotion banners by ID, and heuristically removes any fixed overlay near the top of the page that promotes Edge downloads. A `MutationObserver` monitors for new elements so late‑loading banners are also removed.
The extension is free to use. If you find the extension useful, feel free to buy me a coffee:
