Makes Facebook less addictive

Image from store
Friction for Facebook
Description from store

Friction makes Facebook less addictive by:

1) Dimming alert badges to a calm grey
2) Makes the notification box more boring
3) Auto-hides the newsfeed and adds a delay to loading it

The problem with other productivity apps like StayFocused and News Feed Eradicator is that they don't tackle the main root of why people end up procrastinating on sites: they are deliberately designed to be highly addictive.

Friction for Facebook tries to undo the work of addiction engineers not by forcing you to go cold-turkey, but by adding friction to bad habits and making stimuli less alarming.

This doesn't work with the new FB layout so can't use it..

Possibly the greatest thing ever. Wish this were an option for any website.

This is great, thank you for making it! I'm wondering whether it would also be possible to remove the number of notifications from the title of the page? (i.e. have it read 'Facebook' all the time instead of '(2) Facebook') I think I would find that pretty useful.

Awesome work! Love it! It would be nice if we could enable/disable different bits of the extension. Also I can see my newsfeed content while the page is loading, then it disappears when the page load finishes. This makes it super tempting to enable newsfeed and see what was there! Would be best if you never saw newsfeed content.

Want to share it with friends but am scared to in case it gets popular and Facebook decides to take this down

This is what I was looking for! Small ask: Please alter it so it only hides the newsfeed and not when I am reading a lengthy post that I opened seperately in a new Tab. This is pretty annoying, as I still check up on some people that write interesting lengthy posts on facebook.

good for separating dealing with messages and notifactions.

Fantastic extension - is cuts down my facebook time and discourages me from using it using nice little nudges - thoroughly recommend
